Today there are a lot of interesting updates from the Velyka Novosilka direction.
Here, a massive Russian offensive was set into motion, aiming to consolidate control over the town and break through the Ukrainian defenses. However, the unfolding fight would soon take an unexpected turn, as Ukrainian forces, positioned strategically on higher ground, hunted down the Russian assaults from their positions on the high ground with deadly precision.
The goal of the Ukrainian forces in this area is to target and eliminate Russian forces trying to enter and consolidate control of Velyka Novosilka. The Russians are trying to exploit their control over the town's large infrastructure to achieve numerical superiority by accumulating large forces for an offensive effort to the north. Consolidating their control of the town would also allow them to establish stable logistics by using the infrastructure to set up ammo depots, tank repair workshops, and field hospitals for wounded soldiers, further supporting their offensive.
To prevent this, Ukrainian fighters are conducting constant aerial drone reconnaissance and utilize their positions north of the town to target large Russian columns that are trying to enter Velyka Novosilka.
The main advantage of the Ukrainian forces is the location of their positions to the north of the town. If we look at the topographic map, we can see that the Ukrainian positions are located at a higher elevation than the Russian-held Velyka Novosilka. This allows the Ukrainian forces to observe Russian movements and target them with precision using anti-tank-guided missiles, artillery, and drones. Furthermore, the Ukrainian defenses are further reinforced by the Mokri Yaly River and its tributaries, which prevent the Russian forces from directly approaching Ukrainian positions without any form of preestablished crossing points.
Russians have inherited the disadvantageous positions in the lowlands that allowed them to take the town in the first place.Furthermore, the rivers further complicate Russian logistics because they flow through the town, where all the bridges were destroyed during the fighting.
This forced the Russian forces to restrict their movement along predictable ground lines of communication towards the northern part of the town, which isn't blocked by any river crossing. This is further reinforced by the fact that the withdrawn Ukrainian forces knew which specific buildings in the town provided the best tactical advantages and protection for the Russian forces, so they zeroed in on their artillery, drones, and anti-tank systems to meet the Russian advance.
Combat footage from the area reveals how a Russian column of eight armored vehicles that were carrying stormtroopers entered the northern part of Velyka Novosilka, where they were immediately targeted by already zeroed-in Ukrainian artillery fire. Subsequently, the lead vehicle struck a landmine, forcing the rest of the column to stop.
Several Russian stormtroopers dismounted from the damaged lead vehicle, trying to establish positions in the high-rise buildings in front of them. However, as the intense shelling continued, the panicking crews of Russian armored vehicles started shooting at the high-rise building, where their soldiers took up positions, thinking that Ukrainian fighters are there instead.
Subsequently, additional footage reveals that after the column was finished off by Ukrainian artillery fire, a few Russian infantry squads scattered within the town. However, the Ukrainian drone operators effectively hunted down the Russian fighters that tried to hide in houses and basements, only for the Ukrainian FPV drone operators to demolish their positions and eliminate them, leaving no survivors.
Overall, the lack of any tactical advantages and poor planning led to a predictable Russian mechanized assault that was effectively countered and eliminated by the Ukrainians. The scale and intensity of Ukrainian precision fire led to tremendous losses among the Russian units, including the elimination of the commander of the third mechanized battalion that participated in the assaults. Such tremendous losses among both foot soldiers and skilled officer cadre will force the Russian command to pause their operations in the Velyka Novosilka area, giving the Ukrainian defenders ample time to adjust and predict their alternative assaults in the future.

    February 7th 2025:
I have been watching RFU since pretty much its beginning. How so? Because RFU was started rather quickly after the ru full scale invasion of UA.
And Ukraine happens to be only a few hundreds KM from my family flat, except across the border. The NATO border that is.
But...I have also been watching Ukraine since 2012. Not 2013 (Maidan, etc) But rather 2012. Why 2012 you ask?
It's when Ukrainians and Poles got together to organize the EUFA Championship.
It's when thousands of Ukrainian people took a bus and visited Poland for the 1st time and saw how WE lived in the West.
It's also when Poles saw that Ukrainians were not "russians" in their mindset.
You see, a few hundred thousand people talking in a football stadium is often enough to convince both sides that ru mir and ru autocracy is.
    The rest?
The dear People of Ukraine are doing.
Support for the AFU and the Ukrainian People!

@3:05 the simultaneous impacts could be a battalion of crewed guns, or it could be MRSI (multiple rounds, simultaneous impact). Many of the newer self propelled howitzers Ukraine is fielding are capable of this, firing multiple rounds with decreasing angle and powder charge, so that the first rounds fly a higher longer trajectory while the last rounds fly a fast low trajectory, with all yhe rounds arriving on target at the same time. German PzH2000 and RCH155, American M109 ,Swedish Archer, French CAEZAR, Czech DITA... All of these are capable of producing the simultaneous impacts you showed using a single gun.

And I mean the russians, they throw a lot of people to overwhelm the enemy positions, mass more people over the bodies of the fallen ones, rinse and repeat, ukrainians might have to retreat after certain amount of waves, but done well they can make all battles extremely costly for the russians, doesn't matter what the vatniks says, Velyka Novosiika costed A LOT more than what it's worth, well, this war in general

The simultaneous landing of multiple shells in one place doesn’t mean that there must be a battalion of howitzers around.
It means that there is a PzH2000 or a RCH 155 around. As a quick firing rate by any these two howitzers can lead up to 5 shells of different types landing at the same area at the same time or cover an entire area.

Unfortunately, there have also been tragic loss of equipment from Russian
fiber optic guided drones on the Russian sources
Lets hope the losses were not in vain,
from my viewpoint, its better for Ukraine to be defending then
trying to advance, but lets hope they know exactly what they are doing.
Some of it defies common sense.

@Wim. Sometimes officers get injured so the Russian army does need some medical facilities.
Also they need a location to hand out the crutches so wounded soldiers can return to their assaults.

Have subscribed for a while, are there any plans to widen your reporting?
These seem to be on repeat for the last 16 months. Single battle, UA DRONES hit armor, then target soldiers, etc.. The impression left is Ukraine Is almost done.
I do not believe that is the case, in fact, it appears to be a stalemate with minor movement on each side.
What are the issues inside of Ukraine that prevent going back to 2020 or 2014 borders? Looking for honest answers here, not to blame anyone.
Please don't say - more money, more weapons. There have been plenty of both, especially in the last 8 months.
What of the fatigue of front-line troops and the lack of new recruits?
What happens if all Ukraine can do is hold the line?
From a February 2025 perspective, what does the end look like?
Is the public willing to support the cost to move forward?
There are terrible sacrifices being made in human life and suffering. What can we do to help end this, then work on repairing and going forward. In a real-world way, not just wishing.
Support Ukraine and looking for some Ukraine perspective of the big picture.

RUSSIA IS THE MOST POWERFUL ARMY IN THE WORLD
    Great Imo Jonathan
In Ukraine, 32 NATO countries plus others making them 50 are active participants in the war against Russia. There were over twenty thousand direct NATO soldiers joined with over three hundred thousand NATO hired mercenaries from across the world active participants in the war against Russia in Ukraine. In addition, NATO in ten years trained over eight hundred thousand Ukrainian soldiers, from around 2008 to fight against Russia, with Over 20 CIA laboratories in Ukraine to fight against Russia in Ukraine.
Don't forget, the entire western world brought their economic power together against Russia with over 500 billion dollars so far spent. In addition, the entire western world sanctioned Russia with over twenty six thousand sanctions; a never seen before in human history.
America and NATO coordinated all targeting against Russia and deployed their satellites and high calibre weapons.
The entire western world also deployed their media for propaganda against Russia. Very shameless characters.
Effectively, NATO has been fighting Russia in Ukraine.
Yet none of these western countries making noise against Russia can fight Russia alone; not America, not little chuwawa like barking dogs called British and not any amongst them.
When they tell you that Russia is fighting Ukraine, it is a big lie, Russia is fighting NATO and the entire western world.
They can't stand what Russia has withstood, i challenge them. America with some NATO countries spent twenty years fighting rag tag Afghan militia along with their weapons and lost. America spent 3 trillion dollars and thousands of American soldiers dead and they lost to rag tag Afghan militia.
America spent twenty years fighting farmers in Vietnam and billions of dollars and thousands of soldiers dead and they lost.
As it stands today, two hundred NATO hired mercenaries from across the world are dead in. Over one million NATO trained Nazi Ukrainian soldiers dead. Thousands of NATO weapons having destroyed. Twenty thousand NATO soldiers and top commanders are dead. Ukraine is crying for manpower and thousands of forceful recruited ones are running away from battlefield. Over 500 billion dollars so far spent by the west is lost. Twenty six thousand western sanctions against Russia has failed. Western media propaganda has failed. Russia is trading with the global majority and is exporting more to the world and earning more money. The economy of Russia is growing at 4 percent and has became the biggest economy in Europe, 4th biggest economy in the world by purchasing power parity, while Europe is declining and deindustralizing itself. Europe is paying more for energy and Russia is earning more from energy. BRICS which Russia is the leading architect is growing and now has 44 percent of global GDP and 55 percent of global population, while G7 by the west is declining. Yet Russia is fighting the entire western world alone.
Tell me any major country America has gone to war against alone. None! When all NATO countries plus others gather to fight it makes them think they are that strong but individually they are nothing compared to Russia.
Russia has defeated all major powers in world history and that is one of the reasons some Europeans don't like them, because Russia puts them in their place.
Russia defeated Ottoman empire, defeated Napoleon and Hitler. For over six hundred years, western powers have sort to defeat Russia and loot ber resources and they are yet dreaming of it today.
Especially the greedy British are jealous of Russia and have been decimated at all times they tried anything against Russia. If Britain does not learn its lesson, the island may eventually disappear when they provoke Russia into using one of its mighty weapons.
The British are the architects of all hatred against Russia in the world today because Russia did not allow them in some occasions to mess around. Even America that is against Russia today Russia saved them from British wickedness. Russia's Catherine the Great opposed British naval blockade against America around 1775.
Russia in 1863, Alexander ii sent Russian fleets under the command of Admirals Lessovski and Popov to New York and San Francisco in order to put pressure on London and fight the British navy for 10 months, to stop the British and the French who were on the side of separatists South.
Twice in less than a century, Russia stood by America to help the union stand. Americans should not think they can defeat Russia, even with their new found allies.
