This video randomly showed up in my suggestions and I remembered that this was an asmr video I used to watch before starting college! I watched it in anticipation of my dorm and first year of college. Years later I have my dream degree and now it shows up again. Wow time flies.

Honestly, though, the like-to-dislike ratio is pretty high; I was expecting it to be much lower. Plus, the most liked comments seem to be the most positive. People always approach advertising campaigns with skepticism (check out the hilarious Kristen Wiig Pizza Hut commercials which everyone in RUclips hates), and ASMR's moment in the sun seems to provoke a lot of anger in the ones who can't experience it. Despite that, the ad seems pretty well-received. Gotta love those Scandinavians. They know how to do it right.

Funny enough, this is actually useful. It helps me figure out how certain things might feel when I lay on them or am tossing and turning in bed. Or if I am getting new clothes out of my closet. Now I know how loud stuff will sound and everything, very nice.

this video was my introduction to asmr. now, 4 years of high school and 1 gap year later, i bought the pillow cover from the video to bring to my college dorm room because i love how it sounds
used to work at ikea! during orientation they spoke a lot about the internet and its impact on their image as a company, and brought up the memes about people not being able to assemble stuff/read the names, as well as this video! its a pretty big part of the culture with employees. i admire their approach at advertising a lot actually.

It's parody done badly...and ignorantly. THIS, tho...! Like I said, one of their marketing peoples CLEARLY is a connoisseur of the stuff. What I still don't get, tho, is how they are SO GOOD AT IT. Like, I may love and enjoy a lot of ASMR myself, but I would probably suck at making an ASMR vid!

It gets worse. Some people will fall asleep to this and them dream about IKEA furniture. The pleasant feeling they get out of watching this will enter their subconscious and some people will have a warm reaction to IKEA branding without even realizing it.
DREAMER _14 I personally think that understanding the words hinders the experience... Listening to ASMR in different languages is something I definitely recommend you try, my personal favorite is Hatomugi ASMR since she uses a ton of different microphones and her voice is so soft

Well, congrats IKEA. This is actually an excellent ASMR video. It's a bit tacky in my opinion (the "look at how XXX sounds/look" phrases for example), but these are the parts that actually work the best. And damn, ASMRtists are doing their best with staging, but you got the big guns! Image and sound quality are top notch, the narrator has a fantastic voice with the perfect imperfections for inducing tingles and the vocabulary is carefully chosen. Excellent work. Please keep doing it well so the ASMR community doesn't feel exploited for marketing purposes. As some other suggested, collaborating with ASMRtists would be a great way to give back to those who have been producing content for years and bringing the genre to the mainstream :)
Great suggestions! I think this lady has experience doing ASMR though, but a collaboration with other ASMRtists sounds really fun. I can only dream of having a whole IKEA floor to make a video..

Honestly, I would think it's much more likely that one of their marketing execs is a connoisseur of ASMR material, rather than someone entirely unfamiliar with it noticing a trend and going in and doing research on it themselves.
Yeah, just watched those Super Deluxe videos. Those are clearly from someone who really doesn't get it who is just making fun of the general appearance of ASMR videos from an outsider's perspective. It's parody done badly...and ignorantly.

I wish they would make more of these! I find myself coming back to it a lot, and while I normally would be pretty irritated by a company using something as delightful ASMR as a marketing tool, IKEA seems weirdly fitting for it LOL.

DREAMER _14 I personally think that understanding the words hinders the experience... Listening to ASMR in different languages is something I definitely recommend you try, my personal favorite is Hatomugi ASMR since she uses a ton of different microphones and her voice is so soft

Well, congrats IKEA. This is actually an excellent ASMR video. It's a bit tacky in my opinion (the "look at how XXX sounds/look" phrases for example), but these are the parts that actually work the best. And damn, ASMRtists are doing their best with staging, but you got the big guns! Image and sound quality are top notch, the narrator has a fantastic voice with the perfect imperfections for inducing tingles and the vocabulary is carefully chosen.
Excellent work. Please keep doing it well so the ASMR community doesn't feel exploited for marketing purposes. As some other suggested, collaborating with ASMRtists would be a great way to give back to those who have been producing content for years and bringing the genre to the mainstream :)
Great suggestions! I think this lady has experience doing ASMR though, but a collaboration with other ASMRtists sounds really fun. I can only dream of having a whole IKEA floor to make a video..
