Its musicians around the country who recorded themselves to celebrate the beauty of our country, and to say despite all the challenges there’s still hope, this footage fits perfectly for our project, I will credit you obviously for it. Thanks

    how did you fly in so many places without getting in any trouble?? did you have any problems with airport security at all or customs? I'm flying to South Africa and Victoria Falls next week and I want to bring my Mavic

    • @chriswilliams1986
      @chriswilliams1986  7 лет назад

      Hey, as long as you are sensible about it everyone is fine with it. I tried not to fly in public places, over people or further than 500m. There were some drones around, but overall it was seen as more of a novelty. Enjoy SA!

    • @TravelVentures
      @TravelVentures 6 лет назад +2

      Actually what he did was illegal if it was in a national game reserve, the law states that flying closer than 500m to any National nature reserve in our country can result in your equipment getting confiscated, serious fines or even jail time. This is not even mentioning the fact that he flew so close to the wildlife. If you are visiting a private nature reserve, then their legislation on drones may differ.

      hey, the shots were taken at a private reserve. Head ranger was with us when we took them and the head of anti poaching was asked beforehand. So that's what I meant with being sensible about it. Sidenote: we later found out that poachers use drones to find rhinos. Disgusting :(

    • @TravelVentures
      @TravelVentures 6 лет назад +1

      Yeah private reserves have their own set regulations and such :). But of course poaching is probably one of the big reasons that a lot of reserves has banned drones. :( I would have loved to film myself at places as well. Great video btw Christopher!

    hey, are all these shots legal? because it says you are nto allowed to fly within 50 m of houses but you clearly fly over houses and in parks? just checking because we want to fly legally this year as well

    • @chriswilliams1986
      @chriswilliams1986  5 лет назад +1

      Hey, I did my best to only take legal shots. For the shots in Cape Town in the beg of the video, I was doing my best not to fly over houses directly. As for the park, that was a little more tricky. We actually stayed at a private reserve and I asked the park ranger for permission. He even had to get in touch with the head of anti poaching, because poachers use drones these days to find rhinos. That's how I managed to get those shots. Overall SA is a great place to fly a drone legally. Just be careful with the wind and how much battery you have left. Especially on the coast line...

      @@chriswilliams1986 what about the shots taken in cape town; within 10km radius of airport and over a public roads. trying to look more into whats legal beacuse i am wanting to get a drone myself but with my understanding of the regulations, seems almost impossible to get nice shots and not worth it

    The main question here is youtube and uploading videos to youtube, does this classify as recreational or commercial, monetization, gain of followers, how does this impact drone usage, asking as informative and for guidance purposes nothing else, the question is not to put you on the spot but I would also like to upload drone footage and SACAA does not seem to clarify on youtube matter in definite.

    • @AgniesMTDronesandPixels
      @AgniesMTDronesandPixels 2 года назад

      Uploading to your own platform that has no commercial purpose is considered personal. If you monetize on it it is commercial.
      The uploader does not always get paid for the adds appearing, only above certain thresholds and if in official partnership.
      But... flying over National Parks in South Africa is only allowed for approved commercial operators, so I assume that the video maker had all the permissions for commercial work :-)
