The 6128+ was my first computer. I spent many hundreds of hours playing burnin rubber and typing in games from Amstrad Format Magazine. To this day I still set my terminal apps to yellow on blue, albeit a little less bright.
I know I'm 2 years too late to the party, but there's a passable replacement for solder braid. Just copper cable (preferably with a lot of very thin strands) with some solder flux applied to it. Not quite as handy as the real deal but it works well enough if you run out of solder braid at the worst time.
Oh wow i had no love for plus version of CPCs (because stylistic that colour scheme of OG 464 I just love) so now i have to find how to get cheap 464plus hmmm thx mate outstanding! :D
Why would you do that? Except for loading cassettes for nostalgic reasons, the 6128plus already has everything that was done in this video. And adding a cassette port is much easier than doing all of this. And to add a Gotek to the 6128 plus is even easier. Just get a Centronics connector and crimp it to a floppy cable: done! No soldering required (unless you want an ABBA switch to switch between A and B - but even that is simple)
I've only recently found your channel, very interesting, thanks. Ah, I know 'if only's' are pointless but assuming the '+' ASIC was too advanced to go in the original CPC's one wonders if the '+' range might have been a little more successful if the Z80 was clocked @ 8mhz? Yep, a 6mhz mod works and so would 8mhz if you could find a monitor that could sync to an over-fast video output... it might not have made a huge difference but as the hardware can do it a bit of extra speed to allow more '16bit-alike' software may have been enough for some. The '+' actually has very good GFX indeed, just nobody bothered and the 4mhz Z80 wasn't really enough to drive it. Rambling...
In my experience, loading tape software from an external cassette player is also considerably buggier than from the onboard drive. Slightly off volume settings and imperfect connections or cables leads to noise and the dreaded read errors A and/or B.
i just use the zaxon usb drive with 512kB expansion on an original 464 (it also has parados etc), there isn't that much use for the extra cpc-plus enhancements.
That floppy cable soldering was impressively tidy.
I upgraded my 464+ a few years ago and squeezed a gotek inside the case. I still use external 3.5" floppy. As you say probably they ultimate cpc

I'd never seen this range of Amstrad. Glad you made this video!
Wow so much to learn from scratch but finally a big project for my CPC464+ I've have for 20+ years in a plastic bag
Goodstuff. I appreciate your ingenuity with desoldering; hope you can get another vacuum gun soon. Look forward to your next project
Wow! You master your passion or your trade! That is a pleasure to see such virtuosity. Thanks!
Ah, percussive desoldering! My favorite!
Congratulations for your video, but I prefer to keep my 464plus as it is. Thanks for sharing!!!

cheap and plus .... these words do no longer belong together ;-)
Fantastic video - it actually makes me wonder if I should swap my 6128 Plus for a 464 Plus!

Need a 64kb ram expansion but would love a cpc to plus feature upgrade too?
I can't find 125µH 2A Filter. Can I put 100uH or 150uH there ??
Finally I found how to upgrade my CPC464+, problem is I and a complete idiot on soldering skills. Maybe just do the ram upgrade....
Very good job!!!... a question, would the W27C010 eprom be valid as a substitute for the M27C1001 for a normal plus cartridge?
yeah seems to have the same pinout
is it desktop sir? i just see it first time in my life thx u for uploading this❤

Yeah I'm thinking about getting a DDI3 for my OG 464. The 464 plus setup takes less desk space though

@@DirkDierickx What on earth?! how did you make that?
Excellent video.

nice work their fella
I see Kropotkin. You a breadtuber now?
No I don't have the costumes or makeup skill
would you sell me the ctm644 colour monitor?
I want to do similar to a GX4000
I'm not and it was. cheers
This game is needs 128k to run, sorry.
should use Rick Dangerous 128PLUS version to properly test the newly improuved machine.
