    North Americas’s power grid allows Canada to buy excess solar power from the American south during the day, and the Americans to buy excess Canadian hydro-electric power at night. This interview is spot-on that having a robust continent-wide transmission system is a must, so that excess renewables can be distributed to where they’re needed!

    9:00 That Draghi saying came to mind when I started playing the video glad he mentioned it.
    Draghi prob wanted to say something a little harsher but he wants to be diplomatic.
    Truth is we are fighting a war too even thou not with soldiers. Sooner we realize that sooner the war ends. In the end of the day war is a battle of wills and unity.
    If everyone turns off their AC that sends a clear message . If we all act as soldiers this war would have ended long time ago.
    Every war is a battle of unity and will.
    Europe has huge potential but it seems timid.
    This is our big advantage not to fight this war with life's lost , but with an oil and gas embargo.
    If we all act as soldiers in our home in our work in our cars , Putin has no chance.

    Energy is THE big topic… Prof. Glachant brought out ‘who pays’ for all the infrastructure…. (I liked that!)particularly in continents like India, South America, and Africa… each with over 1B people. And is everyone entitled to energy grids and infrastructure if they don’t build it themselves. I really liked the idea of the world being so intertwined that it’s impossible to fight one another… like the inside of a golf ball.. however, we are actually seeing that play out now,with this war….. with energy, food and fertilizer shortages having a world wide effect. Another great discussion! PS: in the U.S. we are having food shortages and price hikes on gas almost daily (diesel fuel for trucks is actually going to spike prices of everything further!)There is no question we will go into a deep recession unless our domestic energy production is turned back on. EVERYTHING is tied to energy!

    Another good video - I'm becoming convinced the political leaders need some more technical training in the area of energy. This training may help them to make wiser long term decisions. I look at Germany shutting down its nukes and I think someone should have had a very long gentle talk with their Green party. However, experience is the best teacher and if they get their gas shut off and face a cold dark Winter they won't forget it.

    • @dmkdata
      @dmkdata 2 года назад

      Opposition to nuclear power goes well beyond the green party these days in Germany. When Merkel sealed the second nuclear exit after Fukushima the green party was not involved in the government. Also, while I personally think it is a mistake to shut down nuclear before coal and I wish it would run longer, nuclear does not change a lot about German gas dependence. The main issue there is that German heating is not electrified. The state of German gas dependence is a failure across the political spectrum and arguably the greens are least responsible for it.

    • @imnotanalien7839

      Great point! Also the western countries use the energy to provide the products and services that the world wants and demands. Those countries just order what they want… that’s the only reason they are not polluting. If they don’t like the carbon output….they don’t have to purchase the products!
      Then carbon output goes down. 🌻 Problem solved!

      A G A I N S T joining NATO : 1) Joining NATO means to serve as a target for Russia´s or China´s strategic nuclear missilles all the time in future, certainly not just untill Ukraine war would end. 2) USA may back off in case of nuclear war in Europe to save hundreds of their cities- than NATO would loose nuclear war in Europe. 3) USA would appreciate every new NATO land(Finland) to absorb some of Russia´s nukes, which otherwice would probably explode above USA´s cities in case of nuclear war between USA and Russia... 4) Finland managed alone in past, could manage in future. It is still far better option than to be incinereted instead of some USA´s cities one day...USA likes to be nuclear armed nation, on the other hand they can not defend themself against Russia´s nuclear forces, let alone to defend Europe against it! Finland would better to rely on Finish defensive means and not to mess with counting on USA and kind of stand up against nuclear superpowers like Russia and China to "fight" them one day... To "fight" them means - to absorb some of nukes which would otherwise explode above USA´cities very harmlessly for Finland.... 5) Joining NATO is the way how to assure the tottal destructin to Finland during a nuclear war between USA and Russia, or even between European NATO members and Russia... 6) If anybody thinks that USA is a morally "OK" NATO leader- kind of a "good guy" , than please try to google: "USA drone strikes" . You will find horrible crimes committed by USA on civilians including children in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen an other third world countries... 7) Pro NATO propaganda sounds like this: „No NATO country has ever been invaded. “ Russia has not been invaded either. It certainly does not prove, that NATO and Russia will not destroy each other one day without any invasion. 8) In case of nuclear war the destruction would be gruesome, but also very limited geographically to states involved. Joining NATO is possibly signing of a completely unnecesarry death sentence, since it is signing of being targeted by SATTAN II and more of similar machines of death instead of some USA´s mainland, which is warmly welcomed by USA.

    • @hungryghost3260
      @hungryghost3260 2 года назад +1

      That's a good question. Canada didn't succeed in building out pipelines to the west and east coasts: it was too easy to stay addicted to the US market. The other point is that US shale oil has a much lower production and transportation costs than most Canadian sources. Consider too that Canada doesn't own the majority interest in the Canadian oil industry: the Americans do. Add to these factors one final misstep: Canada hasn't developed enough value-added components such as oil refineries. We transport our raw crude - and thousands of potential refinery jobs - to the US where they add the value and make the significant profits. Sad that Canada missed out on such an opportunity, isn't it?

      Nuclear and hydroelectric power were fairly "green" as far as emissions are concerned. And would alleviate the problem of overpriced oil in the hands of dictators. Cue in certain "environmentalists"...

    Early comment below (and several good replies entered) by Ian Siow is very important, but I would want to see comprehensive analysis of who truly had the moral high-ground. In the case of Soviet Union come Ruzzia, I look to "Red Famine" by Anne Applaebaum and "Winter Is Coming" by Garry Kasparov (world chess champion from Russia). Kasparov foretold the grim future quite exactly as we behold it today.
    Once I assimilated the history lessons, and recognize the secret machinations in the Ruzzian Empire, I can not find moral high-ground with Putin or his sycophant followers. In the end, he wants a structure based in applied Evil in service of his exalted glory over the entire earth. He finds support because many people can not invest themselves in offering a moral example - they perpetually disguise secret machinations within their own minds, and do not make general effort to help innocent people become truly strong in mind and kharma. Instead, they foster a world of secret machinations, and devise systems for feeding on the productive innocent sectors. Once becoming perverse this way, propaganda is the leading tool of communication toward the general masses. It is a complex problem, sorting good versus evil, but if we can't uphold reliable landmarks, we are doomed. Evil machinations hold the initiative, intending to catch you confused and impotent.
    If the world finally has language and politics for exposing Evil, every move to save innocents is a valid move - even by hypocrits. If we don't potently wield such language and tools, then why can't we? Is all leadership fundamentally corrupt? What about an artificial intelligence in role of the leadership mentality? It needs to be given a try, as soon as possible, just to see if evil becomes weakened. And the code needs to be open source, open review, and fully insulated from tampering.

    This so far ignores the humble bicycle. Oulu is a town in north Finland which leads the world with riding bicycles, including in winter. This promises to reduce air pollution in cities and reduce demand for Russian oil and gas. But seeing a massive increase in the number of people riding bicycles in short time, this is the nightmare of conservatives, not just the utopian dream of liberals. So it will be hard to make happen this summer, this... winter.

      The main difference is if you end with one country or two.
      Liberation - invade, appoint a government from within the country who trades favourably with you, allows your military bases, etc. Impose some form of democratic election as mode of succession with pre-defined terms (how long between elections)
      --- vs
      Invasion - invade, administer the country directly through an appointed military leadership or government. Invasion involves hegemony, or being integrated into an empire, union. Invader chooses if, when, and to whom succession occurs.
