Majority of Vietnamese peoples do believing in spiritual and ghost, so there is a tradition that is a common acceptable for the living as well as the deceased is light up incense as a way to acknowledge and give respect to the deceased world. According to superstition and oral tradition passing down from ancestors, it is believed that when we leave earth realm, we will go/transform to spiritual realm where people also refer to as ghost. Ghost can't harm us even though us human have been mocked and ridiculed ghost for thousand of years. Anyhow, ghost complained to God, and asked God to allow ghost the energy force to move object so that it can go after the human that disrespect ghost, but God refused because that would interrupt earth realm because human can be hurt without a warning or know who is doing the attack. God insisted that He can allow enough energy force of a breath so that it can warn or notify human of its present. These explain when ghost is present and near us, we will feel cold behind our neck where it is possible that ghost is standing behind us. These also explain certain tomb robber/tomb handling expert practices using candle method before disturb by opening the coffin without the deceased permission. The method is light up the candle and if there is no wind but the candle is blown. If the lid of the coffin has not open yet, the candle can be re-lid again; however, when the candle is blown after the lid is open then the lid of the coffin must be closed within 9 seconds and cease to continue disturbing the deceased. Historical, there were unexplainable bad things happening like from lacks of sleep due to nightmares to accidental deaths to anyone that were involved in the grave disturbing operations. It could be just a myth; however, it has been very difficult for anyone to explain the mysteries.
