ALEXANDER WOLFE - Jesus (Single version)

Taken from the album ‘Little Death’, Jesus the uncompromising standout track.
It is the latest release from the songwriter’s remarkable album ‘Little Death’. It’s a powerful and exhilarating statement by the British solo artist who recently featured in BBC6 Music’s Tips for 2019.
Speaking about the track Wolfe says:
“The song is about how life is chaos, there is no divine plan, and how that’s actually pretty beautiful. I used to wish I believed in god sometimes when I was a kid, I remember thinking how much easier it would make things if I did, it just always felt like such a cop out to me. I don’t know what happens to us after we die, but I’m pretty sure there are no pearly gates.”
‘Jesus’ is the follow-up to Wolfe’s recent singles ‘Avalanche’, ‘Oslo’, ‘I Cant Get To Sleep’ which garnered radio support from Lauren Lavern BBC6, Absolute & Radio X as well as press support from Indie Shuffle, CLASH, The Line of Best Fit, Mahogany Blog, Record of the Day and All Things Go to name a few.
“The church has got a lot to answer for hasn’t it?” Wolfe says. “Wars, massacres, crusades, there’s been an unending list of atrocities performed in the name of god. I’m with Marx, it’s the opium of the masses. Jesus was clearly a good man, but his importance has been endlessly exaggerated over the last 2019 years.”
Wolfe took a short hiatus at the end of 2018 where he wrote and performed the music for the critically acclaimed theatre piece ‘The Trench’ - a dark otherworldly fantasy set in the World War One trenches’- by theatre company Les Enfants Terribles, of which Wolfe was nominated for an Off West End award for the soundtrack which he also wrote. On its original release ‘The Trench’ took Edinburgh Festival by storm and then toured the UK a couple of years ago, before returning in October and November 2018 for a sold-out six-week run at the Southwark Playhouse.
‘Jesus’ is released on October 25th on Dharma Records. Alexander Wolfe’s album ‘Little Death’ is a beautiful body of work that showcases Wolfe’s immense talent.
