린포체(Rinpoche)란 티벳 불교에서 살아있는 부처(活佛), 산부처(生佛)란 의미를 담고 있는 단어로, 티벳 불교의 고승들은 전생에 못다한 보살도를 이어가기 위해 몸을 바꿔 다시 태어난다고 믿는데 이를 Rinpoche라고 한다. 2017년에 개봉한 다큐멘터리 영화 “다시 태어나도 우리(원제 앙뚜)”를 감상하고 영감을 얻어 작곡한 '대금협주곡 1번 Rinpoche'는 김계선 명인이 1930년도에 녹음한 청성자진한잎을 주제 선율로 삼아 총 3개의 악장으로 새롭게 구성한 작품이다. 협연 악기는 일반 정악 대금 보다 완전 4도 높은 Eb관 개량 대금을 사용하여 높은 음역(역취)에서 보다 자유로운 연주가 가능하도록 하였다.
1악장 - 어둠(고난) 속에서 빛(희망)을 찾아가는 과정을 그렸다. 영화에서는 사원을 찾기 위한 고된 여정을 이어나가는 모습을 음악적으로 표현하고 싶었다. 청성자진한잎의 선율을 일정한 박자 안에 넣고 악기들끼리 화성적, 대위적 움직임을 만들어 음악적 변화를 꾀했다.
2악장 - 린포체의 환생증명에 관한 신비스러움을 표현하기 위해서 몽환적인 느낌의 화성이나 미니멀리즘 기법을 사용하여 전개하였다. 1악장에 비해 보다 파격적인 화성이나 리듬꼴이 등장한다.
3악장 - 영화에서 느꼈던 따뜻한 감정과 힐링을 관객들에게 선사하고자 하였다. 청성자진한잎의 변주 선율을 활용해서 새롭게 발전시켰으며. 다이내믹의 변화와 잦은 전조를 통한 드라미틱한 전개를 꾀했다.

8. introduction of work : “Rinpoche” is a term used in Tibetan Buddhism that means “living Buddha”. Tibetans believe monks of virtue are reincarnated to continue their spiritual training left incomplete in their previous lives, and these monks are given the title “Rinpoche”. Daegeum Concerto No. 1 Rinpoche, composed based on inspiration from the documentary film entitled Becoming Who I Was released in 2017, consists of three movements themed around Cheongseong Jajin Hanip (a solo piece for a wind instrument) recorded by Master Kim Gye-seon in 1930. Modernized Eb daegeum (Korean traditional flute), which is a tetrachord higher than the typical jeongak daegeum, was used to enable performers to play freely in the high register.
First Movement - The First Movement portrays the process through which light (hope) is sought amidst darkness (predicament). The composer tried to describe the arduous journey to find the temple in the documentary through musical language. The melody of Cheongseong Jajin Hanip is mounted on a new beat, and instruments make harmonic and contrapuntal movements.
Second Movement - Ethereal harmonies and minimalist techniques were used to render the mystical feel of the reincarnation of Rinpoche. More experimental harmonies and rhythmic patterns than the First Movement appear in this part.
Third Movement - The Third Movement is intended to convey warmth and the soul-healing effect of the film to the audience. A variation of the melody of Cheongseong Jajin Hanip was employed and developed, with changes in dynamics and frequent modulations adding to dramatic turns.
