I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. Today (December 31, Christmas 1), Galatians 4:4-7 was our New Testament Lesson (or Epistle) of the Day. And with this, we close the door on the Christmas Season. Now, we prepare for Epiphany, in which we see the early days of Jesus. But we will pick it back up on November 27, 2018.

Not here to make an argument..just to ask for your opinion.
The 10 commandments written in simplest form..
    1. Love God more than you love anything else.
    2. Don't make anything in your life more important than God.
    3. Always say God's name with love and respect.
    4. Honor the LORD by resting on the 7th day of the week.
    5. Love and respect you mom and dad.
    6. Never hurt anyone.
    7. Always be faithful to your husband or wife.
    8. Don't take anything that isn't yours.
    9. Always tell the truth.
    10. Be happy with what you have. Don't wish for other people's things.
Now imagine a place/world with this character reflected by everyone.

Hope you read this in the right context with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
When a child is still small.. I agree they need a guardian to guide them to what they need to learn in life.. the do's and dont's.. right versus wrong..
And when they mature, physically and mentally, they do not and/or minimally need of a guidance because they can learn about life for themselves.. they can now decide for themselves.
that's what it is also for life spiritually.
because life is a wholistic being (physical, mental, spiritual, emotional)
It does not mean when you already are grown up or mature enough, you can now forget the guidance that you have learn from your guardians. it is still in your way of life.
it is still beneficial for you to know what is the right thing to do.
Being a grown up is not an excuse to forget what you are taught of when you are still a child, especially when these things will make you prosper and do good in life.
    God bless brothers and sisters.
When you get to know Jesus, it does not mean you need to forget about the law and teachings that lead you to Him..in fact, it runs in your blood and it shows on how you handle things in life.

You forced a group of people (non-israelites) that were never "under the law" into a text that clearly says "Jesus came to redeem those that were under the law". The only ones "receiving the adoption as sons" were the "ones that were under the law". What law were non-israelites ever commanded to keep?

The commandments are not exclusive to the Israelites. No-one is exempt from the wrath of God as a result of failing to obey the commandments. Every human being will be called to judgement, hence every human needs a savior to pay for their freedom from penalty. :)

It seems like the bible says that only Israel had the law and no other nations were ever commanded to keep it.
Do you gave scripture that says what law non-israelites were/are under?

If there were no scriptures every human being has a God given conscience. We know right from wrong and there is guilt and remorse associated with violation of the conscience. The law is written on the heart. The bible is not available to everyone but it does say that God reveals himself in nature and has put eternity on our hearts. Every man will be called to judgement because Christ died for each one and everyone failed to keep the law. Now we have grace. Christ fulfilled the law so we can all become children of God through his blood. Is there a human that has not sinned besides Jesus? Then if we have sinned we are under the penalty of the law. However, you are correct, it was originally given to the Israelites. They are the model for us and an instrument for the bloodline of Jesus Christ.

It seems confusing...if "sin is transgression of the law" how do we transgress a law we aren't under. The bible also says "sin is not imputed were there is no law". That means sin not under the law is not charged to a person.
This verse says that only Israel had the law written on their hearts....
***but this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord , I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
      Jeremiah 31:33 KJV
      How is that us?

Jesus came to His own (Children of Abraham) , who rejected Him. So He took His message to the Gentile Nations all around Him, and offered sonship to them (and us by extension).
Paul is here, talking to the Galatians, recent converts, snatched from heathens, now adopted into the family of Abraham and, someone ( not a Believer), back in Galatia, was teaching them that they had now come "under the Law", (Judaizing). Paul's letter was; a reminder that the Jewish Law had been superseded, and was a call to return to the teaching first given to them, when they had been converted.
The Galatians had been heathens, and had been doing whatever they wanted, according to which particular satanic demon they had subjected themselves to. They were used to being subjected to; do this/ do that, and someone, not of the New Faith was trying to capture them into Judaism.
As for the pagans and heathens, no, they were not under any Law given to the Children of Abraham, as recorded by Moses. Mosaic Law was given to the Israelites, for their health and protection, and to make them a peculiar nation among the pagans.
I mean consider that as the rebellious first-time-to the-gate Israelites wandered in the desert for 40 years, their sandals never wore out. That generation all died in the desert except Joshua and Caleb. Now consider this; All the other men that came to the border the second time had to be 60 years old or younger..... and this generation was about to enter the Land of Canaan to slaughter the giants living there. Imagine a 60 year old wielding a sword and carving up the giants. Imagine Caleb who a few years later comes to Joshua demanding his inheritance saying something like ; " I am 85 years old this day, and as strong as I was when we first came to this Land; now give me my inheritance" ( I'm paraphrasing). The point is that he's 85 years old and preparing to go take a corner of the Land for himself, but there are still giants living there.
      Back on point;
It's too bad they kept whoring after other gods, and eventually God had enough and divorced them, and abandoned them to the pre-existing curses, given at the entrance to the Promised Land centuries earlier, and which are still upon them today. Those blessings and those cursings were for all their generations. The Good News is that when we come to the Faith of the Risen Christ, we get adopted into that family, the Family of Abraham, and so Heirs to those Promises, those Blessings, and to those cursings.
One of the blessings, probably my favorite, was that God would prevent the diseases of the Gentiles to come upon the Israelites. So, keep in mind that when Moses' 130 years were up, the lifespan instituted by God at that time, it is written that Moses went up the mountain to be with his ancestors. There was no dimness in his eyes and, nor feebleness in him. His years had simply expired. God went up there with him, I guess to bury him, And when He returned to camp, He said to Joshua; " Moses my servant is dead" badaboom, the end. Joshua likewise lived to 130 IIRC.
Remember that the Mosaic Law was for all the generations. So even tho the Cross supersedes all the laws pertaining to animal sacrifice, preparation of the priesthood, and by extension tithing, that doesn't mean we can't take advantage of the rest of the laws, to our own benefit, because a blessing is promised to us for doing them.
Today our lifespans have been shortened to 70 years, 80 if by reason of good health. And God puts the "good-health plan" right there in scripture, for any adoptee to practice. I turned 66 this past summer (2019) with no sign of sickness in me. If I live to 70, guess what; I'm going for 80. After that? I actually hope there is no after that. Nevertheless Lord, not my will but yours, be done.
Aw jeepers I wrote another novelette, sorry man
