Ben, I really like this video. Especially since you told us what the chisels were that you used. Maybe in a future video you could elaborate and explain why you use a specific tool. Love the red.
Totally agree; another suggestion might be to do a little narration whilst turning, as a sort of insight to your process, what you look for in the piece whilst turning, how you learned to get the right “feel” for the lathe. I know, it’s more work, so it totally up to you. But we’ve all been here for a while, and i love seeing your process, and how you and your lovely wife share in this home based business
I've learned more watching you than my years of wood and metal shop in high school. That was a little over 40 years ago. LOL I just enjoy watching your creativity. Resin is new to me but I love it!
I really like the red and red glitter. Makes the background really standout in a great way. I love the idea of a shifter knob. Maybe you could do one with the Jolly Roger instead of the spider. ☠️. Cool idea this week!! Love it! 😊💜
I like the gear stick knob, but I think the red background for the red back would look better with jet black glitter background, I also think a back window would look good with the red background. You could also make them in quite a few different colours , so they can pick one to match the interior of there car . Good video as always 😊🎉
I knew you were good when you squirted the two-part epoxy, it's like cooking and not using measuring cups. My name is Bicycle Bob and I approved this message.
I think that would look so good with a contrasting color behind the spider, really make 'em pop. 🤔 Ooooh! What about a black widow?!?! That would be so cool on the red glitter 😁
Redbacks will forever just make me think of Neighbours...because of the time back in 1989, when little Sky Mangel (then Bishop) was bitten by one during a picnic and got rushed to hospital
Even the colours around the bottom are gorgeous, purples and blues look great, beautiful handles, Nice work. The Funnel Spider is the only Australian spider I am aware of, off to watch "A Red Back" 🫣Thank you 👍
Hey Ben!! Thank you for another great video!! How about making a shift knob to the tune of Jurrasic Park. A mosquito trapped in amber. That would be pretty cool I think.
I just noticed the mirror in front of the sanding lathe! I’m so jumpy when someone comes up behind me when I’m working. Either listening to music or loud machines 😆 I’m assuming it’s so you can see someone behind you and not cut your hand off from jumping 😛 I’m going to steal this idea for my art studio!!
i though it would have been ok, but after seeing it i changed my mind. it's amazing, that red and spider together are awesome. too bad i can't put it in my car...
Maybe glue the thread in first, then use a threaded rod in the lathe ;) It won't unscrew because of the rotation, if you're worrried it may punch through, add some locknuts
It looks fantastic. IMO a sapphire blue stone or greenstone would’ve popped instead of the red on the red with a silvery black in between. Everybody to their own. I’m really glad you popped up in my feed.
Nice. With the red jewel though, I personally would've gone with a different color of paint and glitter for the base. Silver, gold or green color shift would've made the jewel really pop. Still looks good though.
i was able to snag the round one that he made in this video and i can tell you that if you've been on the fence about buying his stuff its absolutely amazing in person! Thanks again Ben and sorry once again for the address mix up!!
That is so cool! I love that red glitter! Sounds like your red back spider might be similar to our brown recluse spider in the States. They're pretty dangerous. My daughter got bit on the hand by one when she was a kid. It was horrible and scary! Thankfully she recovered just fine.
Love these shift knobs. My one question is why you drilled a pilot hole when using a forstner bit? The point on the bit drills it’s own pilot hole and keeps the bit steady. If you look at the video, you see the forstner bit chatter a bit before it bites. That’s because the center point isn’t biting into the material and the teeth don’t have a clear path. The result can be a very slight off center hole and possibly a kick back. I’d just run the forstner bit straight off and skip the pilot hole.
Ben did you ever think of doing a line of those to match farm tractor colors, I mean you already have the farmalls down, and offer the different inserts???
I love them so much. They are just so absolutely stunning and beautiful. Say Ben do you have any plains to make more of the dioramas in the future? Always loved those bigger protect videos. Especially how creative you can be with them. Like with the bat man plain crash one.
@@BensWorx oh how exciting. Like I said I loved those bigger project videos. If I recall correctly those are the videos that got me to sub to this channel years ago. Not that I don’t love your smaller content or your experimental content. I love it all. I was just thinking about those bigger ones recently and thought it was kinda a shame that we haven’t had one of those in a while. I love it when you flex your creativity on those bigger ones. Thank you so much I can’t wait. 😀 And keep up the good work man.
Looks great but I feel the red (back) and the red glitter base are a bit to close. I would probably go with a burgandy or maybe violetl for the base, just to make spidey stand out. I resin but I don't lathe. I once did with wood, long ago. -Seattle
Wow Ben the most dangerous insect we have here in England is a wasp lol but what a gorgeous recreation so beautiful… funnel webs red backs and scorpions ohh im to much a girlie coward 🤣
Now that's cool. I mainly like the idea of shifter jobs in general. I have a 1965 VW Beetle and I'd definitely be interested in a shifter nob but not for a spider one. I'm don't have arachnophobia it's just not me.
Hi Ben, I'm not sure if this is something you'd want on your channel but would you consider doing a full real time tutorial on turning please? I really enjoy your videos, you talk so clearly, explain things really well and come across brilliantly in general so I personally think you could give really good video lessons. I have a lathe but am struggling to get started so maybe if you could do a video explaining the process, what chisel to use and when - basically a start to finish process I personally feel it would be a massive help to me and many other people. I hope you will at least consider doing this? Kindest regards and best wishes, Steve.
Love the vid. Especially when you walk us through each step instead of just showing us. While the knob is beautiful, the only thing I’d change is the background. It’s lovely but too much for my personal tastes. I feel it overshadows the gem of the spider. But that’s okay. This is just MY preference. You make it however you want it to be my friend.
Are manual transmission cars popular in Australia. Almost no one in the US drives them anymore. I would love to, but we're a one car family, and my wife doesn't know how to drive a stick. 🤷♂

A dark green or gold background would make the spider easier to see, very cool though
I can see the spider just fine
I agree. The red looks awesome, but a contrasting color would’ve really made the spider pop.
Agreed @@kelseymaev
Yes!! Or even black glitter 🤩
🟣 would be so pretty under that red jewel, too. Not a criticism, peanut gallery, tis just an artistic suggestion. Love your work, Ben!
Beautiful work. The entire time I'm watching this I'm thinking "PLEASE show the end when you put it in your 1973 Falcon XB GT."
Looks great but next time sould use different glitter color so spider pops more
I've learned more watching you than my years of wood and metal shop in high school. That was a little over 40 years ago. LOL I just enjoy watching your creativity. Resin is new to me but I love it!

Honestly I liked them in the sun, but the resin... The resin just adds that extra refraction and magnification that brings it all together. 10/10
I really like the red and red glitter. Makes the background really standout in a great way. I love the idea of a shifter knob. Maybe you could do one with the Jolly Roger instead of the spider. ☠️. Cool idea this week!! Love it! 😊💜

What makes watching lathing so mesmerising?? It's like a primal compulsion!! The shift knobs looks fantastic.
Thankyou
I don't like spiders at all but i like what you did with these. Very nice Ben.
They're both really beautiful! The faux gemstone looks so cool on the spider especially when it gets magnified by the resin.
Thankyou 😊
I knew you were good when you squirted the two-part epoxy, it's like cooking and not using measuring cups. My name is Bicycle Bob and I approved this message.
Man, I love these shifter knobs!!!!! I prefer the squaty round one. I'd love to have one for my Jeep!
I think that would look so good with a contrasting color behind the spider, really make 'em pop. 🤔 Ooooh! What about a black widow?!?! That would be so cool on the red glitter 😁
They turned out beautiful! I work with resin and the whole time I worried that the facets on the spider would disappear. So glad they didn't!
I’m not a big fan of this particular project, but man I’m loving the new video formats!
Great shift knobs, love the spiders 👍❤️
Thankyou
Great video, Ben! Loved the tutorial aspect
They come out Wicked and Cool 😎👍👍👍
I love that red glitter! I’m not a fan of spiders, but I’ll bet something similar with a tiny butterfly or dragon would be neat.
Redbacks will forever just make me think of Neighbours...because of the time back in 1989, when little Sky Mangel (then Bishop) was bitten by one during a picnic and got rushed to hospital
Oh so awesome. Me and my mom are spider crazy. I own tarantulas and my mom has a ton of spider decorations all over house.
Awesome!! 😊
Very cool! They look amazing. There is going to be a couple of really lucky people who get those.
Thankyou

I had a real one last week. I could have sent it to you 😂
Beautiful piece of art 💕💕
Thankyou
I love these! Makes me wish I still had my red Mitsubishi Eclipse...these would match perfectly!
Enjoying this style of video. The shift knob is really cool. Would have looked good in a Corvette I once owned.
Do a green alien on top of a purple/blue rocky planet! That would be sweet!
Amazing video as usual. I was lucky enough to have one of your galaxy eggs for father's day. It's beautiful 😊
Thankyou 😊 we really appreciate it!
Gorgeous!
I think you need to change the background glitter color or a black spider,
It doesn’t pop like it should cause it’s red on red

Magnetic shift knobs 😎👍👍
Liking the shifters!! You should try different paint and glitter.
That is so cool to see I don't drive but if I did I would have one of them
Thankyou
Absolutely gorgeous. I love the red and blue resin you used
Thankyou
Nice job! I wonder what it would look like if there was a light source under the gem….
I love it, wonderful colors. I wish I had a shift knob to put one on. lol.

Very nice Ben! They both came out spectacularly! TYSM for sharing!

Another awesome video 👍 I'm not a spider lover I couldn't have that looking at me in the car I'd have an accident 😅
Hope your all well 💕
Thankyou, we are 😊
Hi those are cool. They would match my truck. You should make one for your car. You should of got out the knob you made with the real spider ❤
Thanks Connie 😊
Chevy Corvair made a car in the early ‘60’s called the Spider - used a spider symbol on the car…this would be a real cool addition for that car.
Would love to get one of these when they become available again.
I would love to see these available again, possibly in different colors.

I dont know what is braver? Handling a real poisonous spider or handling Glitter. Ben you are certainly a brave soul in this one. Good on you, Mate!

Ooo color shift would be cool
You know we live for the ribbon spitter. Lmao
Why didn't you drill the hole after shaping the knob instead of before?
Beautiful, Ben! Do you think you could tell us where to get that nice respirator?
Thankyou, it’s called Trend
Nice
you got the spider charm off of temu? I shop there for items for my shop's inventory :)
Yeah
@@BensWorx thought so :D I am getting the exact same spiders in the mail for a candle I am working on.
I thought you were going to use a real Red Back spider. Maybe in the future, although you would have to position all 8 legs individually 🤔.

Not really, only Jake and I can drive a manual
How do you get the rest of the glitter out of the brush? Or is that just a red brush now?
We keep using the same brush for red 😊
Is a UV torch the same as a black light torch
A blacklight is a type of UV light
For somebody just starting resin would you recommend UV or epoxy
It all depends on what you’re making, thin jewelry pieces go for Uv, if you want to go deeper with more strength then use epoxy
That is so cool. I wish I didn’t live 12,000 miles away.
So pretty but the red paint hides the spider 🕷️
