Theres been some class demo's released for the Amiga in 2017, but I'd say this is the best one of the year I've seen! Can't wait to run on my real A1200/060 tonight :-)
No. The main thing that reveals it, as well as the low resolution graphics, is the absence of numerically intensive operations. It's a bunch of mostly 2D raster effects.
@@vapourmile Just because you are able to understand the tricks of the magician doesn't make the magician bad or the show terrible. When you are able to execute 2D raster effects so they appear 3 dimensional and look so visually appealing as they do in this demo, it doesn't matter one single ounce that "it's a bunch of mostly 2D raster effects". Combined with awesome music makes it a brilliant demo. End of story.
@@bitbearmusic And you think I should just accept that? Sorry no. Making 2D raster effects appear 3D. Eg. Scaling rasters along demo-predictable sine tables isn't even close to being as numerically intensive nor as difficult to achieve as perspective correct textured 3D..It doesn't even require leaving the programming safe-space of basic integer arithmetic.
@@vapourmile my praise has nothing to do with arithmetic or numerically intensiveness. It's about production quality. And the production quality of this demo is stellar. It doesn't matter how simple or cheap the effects are if you are able to execute them so masterfully as they are in this demo.
It is probably a compressed wav-file in 27 or 28Khz that is either loaded into memory or streamed from disk. CPU usage is very low (around 5%) compared to any multichannel tracker on the Amiga.
A few questions... Party and AmiNet versions are different a bit, and later is missing some more files in the distribution, party version also lacks some. Running the demo gives a lot of enforcer hits pointing to odd memory writes that should not happen. Demo never completes and crashes kind of at the end with black screen and garbage sound, can not quit at this stage. Would be very nice to have a fix for these. Tested on real A1260 and WinUAE with different configs, but same results :-( Otherwise a very inspiring demo.
The demo streams a 16 bit stereo adpcm wav-file at 14 bit 28604 Hz through Paula. This is standard practice for a number of years and comes with a little bit of noise. Filesize of the wav is about 5 MB. This RUclips uses the original 16 bit stereo wav at 44100 Hz.
Yep, if you ve ever heard music made on the program symphonie ( on an Amiga Blizzard 1230 with 16 megs and FPU ) you wouldn't believe it, what the OCS DA is capable of ;-)
Amiga was the ulitimate machine back then, now we got Pcs with 4ghz 32gb ram/2060 gfx cards. . and they cant even do usb copying from external hd to local hd without locking the whole f%#&/÷ system. Amiga had NO problem with this...ran smooth with 14Mhz,1MB ram..and no Fpu.. i miss the architecture. please..bring it back.
So true. My Win 10 machine is so inefficient at renaming and moving files. I recall being able to format a diskette, decompress files in a shell, download over 40 files at a time, and have Ed Player running in the background comfortably while also copying decompressed files to the blank disk in the second drive. All that simultaneous stuff on a 16 MB Amiga 4000 with a 68030 in it. That was the low-end A4000 and it ran like a dream. Here's another nice '060 AGA demo: ruclips.net/video/wmcOXIk9VwM/видео.html
i wonder in my youth why so much devil-satanic-bones-and-skulls themes in demoscene production? which and why -- do these people has too sugary life and has animal-instinct needings for some evil and bloody deathly frightening? got no clue... i prefer Prestige and Melon hearts`n`love thematics ))))
Hi Ya & best wishes. SuperB! Thanks for work. Be Happy. Sevastopol/Crimea
Haujobb & Ghostown-- impressive work.. Technology from the early 90's continued rules... AMiGA
Still awesome in 2023!
oh hell yeah. My kinda visuals and my kinda music. Still cool in '24!!

The only thing that reveals that this isn't a modern 3D accelerated PC demo is the low pixel density. This is an amazingly well done demo. Bravo!

"Stella"? Nope. A far more accurate rating is "pointless".
It's brilliant! I've seen it probably 50 times already.I LOVE THIS DEMO!
I'm amazed... This is so impressive... Cool music, beautiful imagens and effects, everything in Sync. This is probably "the" perfect demo.
this has to be one of the best looking demos for the amiga i have ever seen
Amiga perfection to its best :D
Late to the party.... Thanks for the OCS love with this demo, works great with a little bit of extra ram and cpu horsepower.
Increible zoom final, perfecto!
Wonderful tune in the second part... congratulations! :)
A master piece ! Amiga rulezzzzz
The second song is just so epic!
I enjoy this so much. Great work from beginning to the end. Awesome!
Great demo! Ghostown and Haujobb rule!
True masterpiece.
Miazga! Piękne!
That‘s utterly brilliant!
Top notch stuff, good atmosphere, good music, it's all good!
Good job! Watched on party ^^
Great production by -Ghostown-/..::hAuJobB::...the first audio track reminds me a lot Jesper Kyd/ The Silents DK....
Stunning!
top prod! :)
Was really beautiful on bigscreen :) Greetz & respect :)
Wooooooohhhh!!! 😮 That's incredible!! 😀 Btw is that a multichannel module we hear?

Loved it!

Please try running the final version 1.2 which can be obtained from www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=71976
good music
that skull on the beginning reminds me Cocoon :)
Great! What about sound, is this all 8 bit coming out of Paula ?
I don't think so, probably a streamed mp3 unfortunately :\
Ok but is it streamed out of original Amiga D/A converters?
The demo streams a 16 bit stereo adpcm wav-file at 14 bit 28604 Hz through Paula. This is standard practice for a number of years and comes with a little bit of noise. Filesize of the wav is about 5 MB. This RUclips uses the original 16 bit stereo wav at 44100 Hz.
Thanx, i thought it could be something like sum of the channels in order to get better resolution.

you mean 14MHz, 1MB of ram and no FPU - you're out by an order of magnitude.
@@pigpenpete lol of course.. must have been wasted writing this :D

Someone know the dimension (MB) of this nice Demo? Thankxxx
It's 9.5MB compressed but 7MB is the music as an ADPCM wave file.

low resolution, like expected from Haujobb :D
