Very interesting, from the wipe-on poly to the guitar 'rant'. And Funny: I've never heard the terms 'butt crack' - 'pregnant' - 'pot belly pig' - 'pot-belly pregnant guitar' - used in conjunction with a guitar. That's our Danny! I enjoyed this segment.
"Veneers include the amazing butt crack, alien about to give birth, and pot-bellied pig options - Please specify which one you want, and we will select only the very best wood veneer book matching from the tone-wood library for your custom guitar..."
4:09 Indonesian-made guitars are wildly underrated, for now at least. My Gretsch Streamliner Jr. cost $550, 100 of which was the guitar shop's margin of profit, and the electronics aren't amazing (I'm having my guitar guy replace the pots with CTS 500k) but I have no complaints about the body or workmanship thereon. Beautiful binding, neck, fretboard, semi-hollow construction.
You were right to take the guitar back. It might be different if you paid $200 for a knock off brand, but you didn't. I'm still in disbelief that PRS let that one leave the factory. It's so unlike them. There are sometimes little minor blemishes that you can overlook and live with, but that one was too much man! Especially for the price of the guitar. You can't unsee that one. Any shop worth anything would have understood and taken it back without any hassle as long as it's within a reasonable amount of time. It seems that they did that here so fair play to the shop. Btw, thanks for the lesson in the application of poly. The neck looks nice on video.👍
I agree. When you buy a Gibson, you get a slip that says it passed this or that and it initialed by the person who did what. So your telling me if theres 4-6 people signing and theres multiple aspects of the guitar wrong, this means no one gives a shit ! Why would i spend my hard earned money on a guitar that has no care put into. Im not blind and im not gonna be an idiot and somehow fall for the persuasions to buy a new Gibson some people along with Gibson try to tell ya to buy. Think people. Your getting screwed out of your hard earned money these days buying this crap. Just because it says Gibson, doesnt mean its got the care and love put into like they once did.
Nice vid again dude, I'm currently cleaning an martin acoustic, the guy who owns it stopped smoking last year both him and his wife have spent the last year unsmoking the house and he can really smell his guitar now. I think I gotta remove about 28 years of smokeing. The sound hole smells very strong. Got the 1st stage of the process done on the outside of the guitar and I have sticky stinky hands and t shirt now. The inside is something I have not done before as I have only had to do electric guitars for this type of cleaning but I have a few ideas for getting the smell gone from the inside.
@@guitarhobbywithdannythemedic got some active charcoal bricks and some fabreeze sheets that I will put inside the guitar, then will seal the sound hole and leave for a few days. After that the smoke smell will be gone hopefully.
Danny, Several times when you were picking up the guitar, you inadvertently scraped the body on your bench. Unless you’re also trying to relic her, you’re scratching her instead. And hitting the hardware. Use a bath towel or a guitar mat.
I can't bring myself to buying even their Tribute or Studio series either. With every step of the way, it's always "not quite there" almost forcing you to spend up to the next level. I just won't play that game. BTW It's generally a good idea to leave the finish for the recommended time so it has time to fully cure. When I'm finishing guitars, I can leave them for a while between coats just so it cures fully and the grains can stabilise. Then I'll rub it back, leave it for a while and buff it after maybe a week. Over time, I find the finish or grains won't rise ruining the paint job - as much as I really want to just finish the guitar!
My custom Sahana was made with Himalayan wood. Awesome top that looks like Godzilla on the bottom. Check it out on my thumbnail. 1800 in 2020, but I think they are asking 2500 now.
Not sure if your a fender guy. But the custom shop starting at $5000 - $12,000 seems the same bullshit gibson is pulling. That somehow... Custom shop can take metal and wood and make for the cost of a commuter car?
Your better with a Squier than a Fender. If you want the ultimate Fender get a G&L. Leo Fender perfected his designs before he died with George. G&L = George and Leo. ;-) Seems people would rather buy his ideas that carry the same issues they did back when they first came out sadly. I own G&L guitars and have for over 20 years, a Fender built as good as a $1200 G&L costs about $3000.
There is a guy on youtube who will buy a $25,000 name brand guitar, and he will take it all apart to see inside before he plays it.Doesnt that devalue the guitar?
Hi Danny. Not sure if you know but there's a difference between drying time and curing time. Adding another coat to a coat that is touch dry but that hasn't yet cured does not add another layer of product but instead reactivates the one you just applied but didn't let cure. This is why the time between coats is usually much longer than the time it takes to be touch dry. As long as it worked for you, it's cool though. It made me laugh a bit because your favourite guitar coating - nitro - famously takes about a week to cure between coats, which is yet another reason not to like it! 😁
I sand my necks down with 320 or 400 grit depending on the amount of gloss. I hate polyurathane necks. They grab your hand. After sanding use tung oil. Smoother than a babies @zz.!! Gibson has been hype for decades now. I owned a great 73 SG. They ain't even close to that quality now. Now PRS is going that way. Their making amps like the HDRX-20 and MT-15 better than their SE guitars. My SE Custom 24 needed more work than my Yamaha Pacifica or Ibanez GRX $250.00 guitars to be playable.
I have one guitar I decided to remove the "sticky grabby" gloss, wiped it with scotch brite pad to satin it up, didnt remove too much, slick like oil.. almost no friction at all
most gibson's are shameful for the price but the lower end one's are insulting. people pay for the name on the headstock and nothing else. But I find now that Gibson is no longer associated with quality anymore.
Danny what are we all gonna do when uncle Sam comes to confiscate all of our guitars because we're not allowed to own nothing ? Welcome to the liberals nwo.

Dude you’re hilarious, but honest. Keep them coming!
"an alien about to give birth"
Too funny and too true
My thing is; if one can create their own exceptional guitar from scratch, why not! 😊

Customer is always right and should be happy for his purchase. Your right for returning it. Nice.

so u just put in an air tube into the hole and wait a few months?

its fine, my table is made of soft plastic
So happy to see your new video today. Do you need to shake that polly before use?
bottle says shake
Is that a pack of Newports behind you, D?
What a fantastic video
When do we get an9ther vid
"A pot belly pig" 😆. I was looking at PRS. An S2 possibly. But I don't know.
Hey, Danny the medic! When are we going to get some new guitar videos?
maybe this week, I been busy
@Guitar Hobby with "Danny The Medic" Ita good to be busy. Def miss your guitar videos. Enjoy them immensely
I prefer Tru-Oil as a “wipe on” finish. Dries very fast and dries rock hard.
Very cool project. Impressive results. What do you think of those Klusons?
styled things are great

My end result is a thick layer of the product which I let cure after putting it on over many coats, then I sanded and polished.
