Fantastic piece! This woman was a marvelous composer, unfotunately died too early, what a loss.
She was 60, older than Beethoven, and she wrote plenty of music.
@ThaSchwab Lol. Beethoven lifespan was okay for the 18th/19th century but in the 20th and 21st century most people in rich countries live way longer than Beethoven. 60's peanuts, when many top genii are pumping out some of their best stuff from 65-90. Where would we be without(🤔um, finking finking)...?

Love at first listen, really. MANY thanks for posting this! There is so much know-how here, it's like a textbook on how to write for strings. To my taste, the piece compares favorably with string-ensemble works by Stravinsky (Concerto in D, Apollo), Bartok (Divertimento), Vaughan Williams (Tallis Fantasia et al.), and Shostakovich (Chamber Symphony after 8th Quartet, accompaniment to 1st piano concerto).
Extraordinary.
