  • The outfits of noble boyars were made from precious fabrics, trimmed with furs, adorned with cuffs and buttons. Garments of different cut were worn one on top of the other, thus, giving that much-coveted stately and dignified look to their owners, and corresponding to the ideals of beauty of that time. Old Russian costume has long gone out of use, but the names of medieval garments survived in numerous Russian idioms, many of which are still in use.
