Yes we can read directly from S3 or DB as well. However, Idea is to apply the config changes immediately to the live running app. Sending new message on each config change helps applying latest changes immediately (without restart)

For the config channel, Why is kinesis required to propagate the config, Can we can directly read it from a DB/file on s3.
