Good morning & Happy Tuesday! I am excited to share with you the progress on my Propagation results on my Philodendron Birkin! I propagated the mother plant about a month ago and I am so happy that it looks like it was a success. I will definitely do another updated on these propagations since the Philodendron Birkin is a much harder plant to propagate. I hope you have a great day 💚🌱
I just bought a big Birkin with lots of roots coming out of the stems so I may try to propagate it one day but I now have a big variegated one and a reverted one with lots of green and red. So happy with them. So what will you do with your propagations? Keep, sell, trade, or give? I know it's nice to have more than one. I know I love the Philodendrons and may take the plunge for a Pink Princess, Brandiantiam, and more one day soon. Love your videos. Keep them coming. Learning a lot from you. You are brave to propagate the plants you love that are hard to do, like this one. But look what you've gained. Wow! Beautiful plants everywhere.
Those are called aerial roots - philodendrons and other aroids put them out for support and also to pull moisture from the air around them. Once in water (or soil) they will change from aerial roots and start putting out offshoots as you can see when you had the cutting over the towel. Looks really good!
Am about to propagate mine and happened to see your video when I was browsing on YT , like you( saw your 1st video ) , am kind of scared too to do it but looking how you did yours and now the cuttings are really growing well , am encouraged to do it . I will do mine next week am off . Thank you for sharing video , really helpful …
Thanks so much. Mine are all doing pretty good. The mother plant is doing some funny things though.but I think it was in a bit of shock and I am sure it will recovery 100% soon. I am getting ready to follow up with a video on how it is doing today.
Wow! They’re really doing great!! So weird that the roots were growing up - I wonder why it did that… that’s so cool that the mother plant is already going to replace the ones you removed! Thank you for sharing! 💜💚🪴
@@theplantingbug2045 I have 2, one is mature with loads of variation and one juvenile with few variations. Maybe it’s a maturity thing? I’ve also. Over close to the window in case it is a light factor?..
I'm brand new to plants, I just got my Birkin ysday. Seems to have strong varigation as you say, so I'm guessing that's a good sign. However one leaf (which is the one that cought my eye) one side of the leaf is all green and the other side is the Birkin white n green strippy look. I absolutely love it, but is this a good sign that this is a good plant ???
One day I might be brave enough to propagate my Birkin. I got him at the beginning of July and needed to repot him into better draining soil. I lost one small leaf and was really worried he was super traumatized. But the other day I noticed a new leaf🙌🏻
Hi, I think your water propagation has roots, not shoots (I think). But if they are shoots, there aren’t heaps of other roots to support the plant. Ps I love my Birken too and really appreciate your videos
Lovely plants 🪴

My friend, thank you for good sharing 😊
Those are roots! They are looking to get out of the water and attach to something. Good job potting her up. Loving your channel 💚
Nice to know. I wasn’t sure. Thanks for watching.

I love this plant thank you for sharing this tip I will do this in my Birkin too.
You are welcome and thanks for your kind comment. This plant is probably my most beloved.

I know right very weird. I’m happy I finally have it reported and can’t wait for new leafs.
My birkins don’t have as much varigation as yours, but they are still small so I hope they develop more as they get bigger.
I’ve noticed that with some other Birkins I have seen as well. It may be the sunlight you grow it in but I’m not quite sure.

Does it get bright indirect light or get watered thoroughly?? Bc it's so droopy

Woohoo a new leaf is a great sign for sure. You did great. I was scared to death propagating it but so happy I did. 💚🌱
Hi Tara, Do you know why Birkins lean over like your Mother Birkin is doing? Because mine is doing the same thing.
I am not sure on this either.
