One thing I’ll add to NYC museums, if you are a NYC resident with a free NYC public library card you can reserve culture passes to visit many of the popular museums for FREE most of them up to 4 people. This is a great gift for friends or family members that come to visit you during the holidays!

I love the idea for bringing your own containers and utensils! That is right up my alley!

Thanks! And metal utensils are much more satisfying to eat with than plastic ones.

@@UrbanCaffeine yes! This is such a great idea. The plastic utensils that most places provide are so cheap and flimsy they are barely useable.

Some excellent ideas for gifts especially a gift card for visiting a local attraction we often take for granted that museum / observation deck / gallery that sit in our backyard because of everyday life or just because it’s there and you’ll get round to it sometime 🤷‍♀️ Great video 👏

Hi Thea! Could you make a video about spending New Year's Eve in NYC? I'm going to spend a week in NYC after Christmas for the first time and I want to know how New Yorkers (and tourists) typically spend their New Year's Eve! Thanks!!

Hi! NYE is a toss up. For locals, some have parties at home and some attend parties set up by restaurants or bars or dance clubs (which for these you need to buy tickets in advance, and some places get fully booked up).
As for the ball drop, I don't know any local who attends (or has attended) the ball drop at Times Square. At least no one who will admit it.🤣 It's just too packed with people. Locals are just too averse to large crowds.
If you want to go to the ball drop, just brace yourself. Some people start camping out in the morning. There's a certain time they might close access for everyone just to control the crowd.
But there are hacks to getting a good view of the ball while being comfortable. Only thing is they are expensive (expect to pay a ballpark of $1000 per person). You can get tickets to restaurants with views hosting parties that night (I heard Bubba Gump has a great view). There might be a hotel that has a rooftop view. But be careful and do your research because some places will say they have a view but it might not be a good view. And there are places that will do a tour and end the tour with a spot at the front of the stage right around midnight.
However you celebrate NYE, I hope you enjoy your trip! Let me know what you end up doing. I'm posting a video today on things to do in NYC during the holidays, most of which are still applicable the week after Christmas.

Wow! $40 for an observatory. I thought they would be free or a nominal fee e.g. $1.

Yeah, I think it's super overpriced. Once summer I was able to get a Groupon for One World Tower for only $20.
