alot of films I've been on in Canada when we slate we will read the slate cam op will say mark it when the slate is clean in camera ac will clap the slate and say mark/ed, hold it for a second or 2 then walk off. I find it's more clean and has more communication.
I haven't see your videos in awhile my long term goal having my own studio for film, acting, theatre, & animation . I need to learn more about filmmaking I want to explain my film projects with you guys when we communicate
@Film_It_Yourself I have a slate on the slate on the bottom it's written: DATE, INT EXT DAY NIGHT MOS SYNC and FILTER It doesn't have Frames per second(FSP)
Great question! More professional ones usually do, but also the camera report which is filled out by the camera assistant will also have that info. It’s also fairly easy for an editor to see frame rate in any video editing program.

Great question! “Sound” means Mono or Stereo. So basically it’s just wanting how you’re recording the sound. Mono is one mic, Stereo would be two. Most likely you’re doing mono. You can also include info like lav mic or boom mic if your editor would find that helpful. “prod. Co” is the name of your production company. Hope that helps! 😊
I love your channel. I just started getting into filmmaking and I like coming here to brush up before I go on set.
That is awesome! Thanks so much for watching and best of luck with your films!
Fantastic video. I love the clarity, tempo and content of your tutorial. Thank you!

Hi
What is the filter on the slate for?
Hi there! Not sure what you mean by filter. 🤔 Could you be more specific?
@Film_It_Yourself I have a slate on the slate on the bottom it's written: DATE, INT EXT DAY NIGHT MOS SYNC and FILTER
It doesn't have Frames per second(FSP)
@@eofprojects oh got it! Weird that it doesn’t have FPS. So filter means what filter is being used on the lens, such as ND or a polarizer.
@@Film_It_Yourself Noted with thanks 😊
Why don’t all slates have the fps ? Wouldn’t that be useful?

My clapperboard says "sound' and "prod. co" what do those mean?

@@Film_It_Yourself thank you!
@@DeceasedFlesh no problem! 😊
What do I put for "roll" if I shot my film on a phone?
Good question. You could really use this space for whatever info you want to capture. Perhaps scene number or anything else.
