CarlinKit 5.0 2air Wireless USB Adapter - Unboxing & Review

Here’s the unboxing and a detailed review of the #CarlinKit 5.0 2air wireless adapter for Apple #carplay and #androidauto. The unit was sourced from Amazon India and we paid Rs 8000 for the unit. We tested the unit in my Honda Jazz for Apple Carplay and in my friend’s Toyota Urbancruiser for Android Auto. Thanks to my good friend - Vijay for lending the unit for review!

I have been using this device for past 6 months since its released. In carplay The audio lag is there even for me and tried few more replacement devices of the same. I tried with spotify, apple music. It has the difference around 2 seconds while using apple carplay.
Android auto works fine. Like there is no lag in song play/pause or skip.
All other apps works really good. Im fine with the lag. Im using for carplay in polo stereo.

Can I use the additional usb port in the car link kit to plug a usb drive and to use along with apple car play. This is because my 2017 Golf has only one usb port.

Hi. No, the stock system must natively support CarPlay for the wireless adapter to work.

Does this have a standalone rom, which means without using android auto, can i install apps and run directly & use with pioneer stereo?

Hi Benjamin, short answer - no.
I am not aware of the specifics but the circuit has an embedded processor for handling the data processing, onboard memory to store the firmware and temporarily buffer data for a smooth operation and the Bluetooth/WiFi modules. But not possible to install any apps.

I have lost powerbutton of my Rcd 340 anyway i can get only the button in india or i have a spare useless RCD320 which i tried removing button but its strongly put. Any recommendations here ?

Does the power knob have any protrusion outside like the one you see on the electronic fan regulator? If yes, you can get one 3D printed that fits the protrusion.

How is the battery of your phone when you use carlinkit??

Depletes gradually. Best to combine it with a wireless charging pad if you’ve one. Over a half an hour commute and listening to music and a call, the battery on my iPhone 11 dropped from 84 to 81%.

How long will it take to deliver in India?

This one was sourced from Amazon India so it takes a day to a few depending on where you’re located.
If you’re ordering from the global website, it may take a month to two. I suggest you use Aliexpress and get it shipped to the Middle East or Singapore or any country outside India and have a friend or relative carry it for you.
