    Probably the best tutorial I’ve seen on low key portraiture. You understand it perfectly. But, you are decidedly not a low key personality! I like that. Now, I have not always preferred low key. But on looking back most of my work that did not satisfy me was perfectly exposed, cameras do that very well. Eventually, I figured it out. Again, nice video.

    • @LauraBC
      @LauraBC  2 года назад

      Aww thank you so much Edward! I’m glad you liked this tutorial. I personally love this kind of lighting. It’s true that sometimes perfectly exposed portraits may look more “normal”. I find that playing with light, we can get super creative and try new things that we end up loving. 😊 Thanks again for your super meaningful comment, it does mean a lot! 🙏🏼📸

    Thanks for this video and I might look into this light for my own photography.
    I was on my first shoot of the year on Saturday in a studio that had all the great lights and backgrounds but it also had a north facing massive window. So the model and I decided to use the Scottish sun streaming in through the window and even had her on the window ledge for most of the shoot. As it was an art nude shoot we got so many great photos and shadows on her body and the background. Looking forward to editing the shoot, i think over 300 photos, when my eyes behave themselves

    • @LauraBC
      @LauraBC  2 года назад

      Awww amazing Andrew!! Sometimes we don’t even need that amount of lights right? Making proper use of a window can result in incredible shots! Glad you smashed that photoshoot! I know the feeling about editing. I’m always super excited to edit when I know I’ve done a good job during a photoshoot. I hope you are better with your eyes! 🙏🏼❤️

    Nice video, I love playing around with the position of the light. Exactly what you said, some photographers are scared of shadows and fail to experiment enough leaving them with less creative pictures. Love that. Your tutorials are great. Just read a classic photography manual from Feininger and he shows 10 examples from one portrait shot with 10 different lightnings, one side, two sides, above etc. and 9 were considered wrong. I prefered most of the wrong shots. I like shadows.
    What is the advantage of spot lights compared to these video led lights when taking stills?

      Hi Usha! I use more often strobes. For product photography I use more continuous light and for some portrait work. It depends. This light is powerful to shoot still portraits but if you want to add movement, it’s better a more powerful continuous light or flash. 😊
