Haha! I grew up with them, I love them because we could always use them whenever the power went out for hurricane, which was often in Louisiana
I have this same stove and I put all of the parts including the grates in my dishwasher
Ohhh I never thought of that!! My grates have been getting so greasy! It helps with that also?

I have the same stove and I use barkeepers friend to clean it. Leave it on for about 5 mins and wash it after and it will come right off.
