After reading her new memoir I realised this song is about the night she went to a party without tommy and met the mysterious Derek.... the sequel “we belong together” is about her leaving tommy for Derek and wishing they had worked out. That’s why she wears the ankle bracelet he gave her in “we belong together video”
And I started watching prison break in 2005 because “that guy from Mariah videos is gonna play there.” And the rest is history :) Addicted to Prison Break and Wentworth forever.
If you go back through her catalog it's this, Daydream, and Butterfly that are the most artistically consistent albums. Each of them tell stories and have little nuances to them that make them stand out from her other albums, which at times seem more commercial. The one-two-three punch of this song, We Belong Together, and then Shake It Off was the best album opener of her career in my opinion. Girl came to slay during this era and she more than proved that she was not a gimmick created by her ex husband and Columbia Records to piggyback on Whitney's success, but a true artist with her own style and sound. Her attitude is a little ridiculous but still funny, but her best music moments cannot be diminished. They are stellar and deserve recognition and respect among her peers.
Mariah is the complete package. There are some people too jealous of her and discrediting her talent when they can't even be compared to her legs. Hahaha!!!
@@fhm1330 preach it. Those legs better have been insured during the late 90s/early 2000s. Her and Tina have more famous legs than have the celebrities out there.
This… I was in the Philippines. Her songs were all over the TV, the clubs… everywhere! The greatest comeback in all of history and not to mention, Wentworth! 😍
"She really blew people away." - a quote from a TV special regarding Mariah Carey's re-emergence during TEOM era. And I have to tell you she really did. The first Mariah Carey album that I ever bought was the Rainbow album when I was seven. I remember the Glitter era, and I bought the Charmbracelet album, so I was already a fan of hers. But I remember one day in early 2005, my mom and I had just got in the car and were going down our street when "It's Like That" came on the radio. We literally said, "This is Mariah Carey?!" We were literally blown away. Soon after this I became a lamb. I think The Emancipation of Mimi era is the strongest era for a female music artist ever. There was something so innately present and effortless about it. It wasn't based off any gimmicks--fancy dance moves, music trends, overt sex appeal, etc.--but grounded in Mariah Carey's undeniable and divine talents of singing and songwriting, her persona and artistry. It was visionary.
Aaron Thompson Well it is looking to be one! I'm beyond excited that she will be releasing an updated version of her #1s album, which is also set to have new music on it! Hopefully, this new music will be natural, organic, and full of substance and she may go #1! :-*
Matthew Boyd Yes, I really do hope this is a new chapter for her like she said on Ellen. I'm rooting for her Vegas residency to do really well too. People need to realise that Mariah is a supreme vocalist. It doesn't surprise me though, most music topping the charts nowadays sucks soo much.
Aaron Thompson Well, with news reports coming out now that divorce papers were officially filed last month, it really is a new chapter for her and a clean break. Although I know she is heartbroken, as her parents also divorced when she was three, and it does sadden me greatly, divorcing Nick Cannon is truly the best thing she can do at this point in her life, personally and commercially imo. And judging by her appearance on Ellen, she seems to be in the best spirits she has been in, in a while. Mariah will come out stronger than ever. Mariah Carey is a survivor, in the words of Barbara Walters. And I love her endlessly for it. #L4L
Aaron Thompson I also believe that signing to Epic like it has been rumoured will help her to get #1s as they hopefully will pick better singles than Island (e=mc2 would have had way more hits if they had picked the right singles and released them in the correct order)...

That’ll be the illuminati, all the signs are literally in this video. They all pay the price.
After reading her new memoir I realised this song is about the night she went to a party without tommy and met the mysterious Derek.... the sequel “we belong together” is about her leaving tommy for Derek and wishing they had worked out. That’s why she wears the ankle bracelet he gave her in “we belong together video”
How do you no
@Tiren Mickens I ment how do you know shes still in love with Nick Cannon
@@leannebennett3893 how do you know shes not ? either way its her personal lifeeee

My condolences to FatMan Scoop Family..... Forever Playing His Music RIP
After all these years, I just now realized that's Wentworth Miller in this video and the guy she runs away with in We Belong Together.
It's a two part video with We Belong Together.. Queen really planned her comeback.
@hytt x Lol, I just realized that's Eric Roberts. 😂
@@edwardashleysolares1701 I figured that much. I just never put two and two together until a few months along. 😂
And I started watching prison break in 2005 because “that guy from Mariah videos is gonna play there.” And the rest is history :) Addicted to Prison Break and Wentworth forever.
Same
The range on this album!
From 'its like that' to 'fly like a bird'

I play those/these three as a single montage---it was a while before I even listened to the rest of the album.
RIP Fatman Scoop, thank you for all your amazing contributions to music. ❤️
One of her best songs ever.
This… I was in the Philippines. Her songs were all over the TV, the clubs… everywhere! The greatest comeback in all of history and not to mention, Wentworth! 😍
This track has such a distinctive sound of the 2000s.
At work listening to Fatman Scoop today. All day 🎶🎶💔 Gone too soon. R.I.P.
You are so spot on!
Aaron Thompson I also believe that signing to Epic like it has been rumoured will help her to get #1s as they hopefully will pick better singles than Island (e=mc2 would have had way more hits if they had picked the right singles and released them in the correct order)...
favorite song from her atm..
Thanks!
Black dresss iconic
I was just thinking, does she still have that dress? Because if she ever decides to sell it, I'll go rob a bank to win it in the auction lol!
R,I.H. Fatman Scoop. You was fire on this!! Love your voice. ❤Get some rest king!! 2024!!
We don’t look for old songs, we look for the memories they carry ✌🏻
