Kurt Knispel (20 September 1921 - 28 April 1945) was a Sudeten German Heer panzer loader, gunner and later commander, and was the highest scoring tank ace of World War II with a total of 168 confirmed tank kills; the actual number, although unconfirmed, may be as high as 195.
German Panzer ace Michael Wittmann was by far the most famous tank commander on any side in World War II, destroying 138 enemy tanks and 132 anti-tank guns with his Tiger.

leave it to a Brit to downplay Wittmans kill ratio and even call evry Russian tank inferior 😂 With the amount of Russian tanks they attacked the Germans quantity often beats quality. I dont know ANY British tank ace, but i do know Wittman, Knispel, Carius, Schroif, Bolter, Sandrock, Egger, Lang all had a + 100 kills under their belt. I tried to look up for Allied tank aces and quickly saw they barely scratch the German aces their kills. Radley-Walters was the most successful Allied tank commander in the theatre, and the British gave him the title of tank-ace of aces. He had 18 tank kills. PS Radley-Walters allegedly killed Wittman.

Lazerpig couldn't even get the basics right. His video was poorly made. For example, Lazerpig stated Wittmann was the commander of Schwere SS Panzer Abteilung 101 during Villers Bocage. He wasn't. Heinz von Westernhagen was. Lazerpig also stated Wittmann returned for the second battle at Villers Bocage later that day and lost more Tigers. He didnt. Wittmann went on foot to the HQ of Panzer Lehr Division after the morning battle and played no part in the later battle. The later battle involved Rolf Mobius and his 1st Company.
So Lazerpig even messed up on basic facts.

The Czechs had had a gutful of all things German at that stage. Most went to West Germany as refugees. However, if he had survived the attack on his tank, he most likely would have ended a German POW up in a Soviet gulag. Eric Hartmann flew his fighter to surrender to the Western forces only to be handed back to the Soviets as most of his service was on the eastern front, and the rest of his Luftwaffe unit, the ground staff, were captured by Soviet troops. The Soviets did not get involved in the ethnic cleansing of the Sudetenland and just let events occur without any or limited intervention. Any German who protested the forced deportation too loudly was simply killed / murdered by Czechs.

Of course there are those who geel the need to discredit Wittman, saying he destroyed less tanks than previously believed. I dont care for such nonsense. He was the best of the best during that war. Just let it be.

Wittman was not the "greatest tank ace" or even anything great. Just a propaganda figure. Whoever made this documentary should be ashamed.

Let me guess , your thought is some allied tank commander based on the movie "fury" .
I suppose you'll say the same for the luftwaffe not having significantly better fighter pilots than all the allies ?

Not the greatest tank ace, but 139 confirmed kills is nothing to sneeze at. The guy took out 3 T-34's by himself in a Stug in his first engagement. That's pretty damn impressive.

This film was made 25 years ago.
Just after Villers Bocage the British high command based much of their thinking of the “disaster “ on the German propaganda without even asking their own troops as to what happened.

Kurt Knispel was a beter and more human soldier that acieved more kills then Wittman, whom was placed on a pedestal by the SS , Kurt knispel was against the SS and that is why Wittman made quicker promotion , but neother of the two survide the war all was it for Knispel just a matter of days to survive , and Wittman was long gone by that time so calling Wittman the best and greatest is a foolish thought.
