I’m a new fan to Ger and I am so taken by his talent and dedication to this style of ballads and songs. His voice and musical ability make him stand out in a world of overdubbed overrated performers. I will continue to follow and wish him all the success in this new generation of Irish talent staying closer to the roots.
I find myself saying "oh this is my favorite" then I click next song and that idea is blown. Flutes usually end a song for me but dang any instrument Ger picks up he makes it work in the song. It's not forced. Not to mention picking excellent duet partners. Great harmonies. Love it. Beautiful.
What a powerful song, quite moving, indeed. A great performance by both Pat Coyne, who's terrific voice goes right through you and Ger with his splendid voice & soothing flute accompaniment. Very impressive!
The fact of the matter is that Ger is probably in a tremendous amount of pain when he thinks about all of the shite music we are subjected to by the controllers. Therefore, he releases this angst by pushing more emotion and passion into his own performances. Pure speculation, of course. Ger and friends are transforming the music scene one song at a time.
Beautiful song. I'm trying to play the song for guitar, specifically Pat's part (I see that Ger's is a baritone) but the microphones cover his hands and I can't see what tuning he's using on his guitar to play the chords like he does. Is it possible to know this information?
Great stuff Pat and Ger. I remember Pat playing Monroes and some other great pubs in Galway, always thought he was star qual.
