They won’t let people with tattoos into the hot springs. Culturally, in Japan, tattoos are usually seen on criminals, and nobody wants a criminal in the hot springs.
@@musical_costumer7976 They're extremely strict, typically the most you're allowed to go in with is a towel, not even underwear or a swimsuit (because male and female are seperated they have no reason to make you have any cloth on you since its a place to wash and relax). It's because out of all the people in Japan, only criminals get tattoos, especially the yakuza. They wear it like a badge of honor. So if you go to any establishment with a tattoo, to the Japanese, it's basically saying, " I'm here to cause trouble" and yes it's unfair but Japan is a country ruled by traditions and traditions are hard to break

I maintain the opinion that tattoos are something you earn like the anchor. But my respect is really not something anyone should live their life by except myself.
Okay, like I get that the Yakuza is a thing over there... but shouldn't that mean tattoos _are_ allowed? Like the mafia is similar, not 1:1 by any means, but close enough for an analogy. If you're in the mafia, you're _probably_ Italian, and if so, you're _probably_ Catholic, so you _probably_ have one of those cross necklaces. You'd never be able to ban cross necklaces, for multiple reasons; but if you tried to... wouldn't you wake up with a new pair of cement shoes in the East River? What, does Japan have _effective_ cops or something?
Listen, I've been tattooing for 16 years and I'm 60% covered with tattoos. I got them everywhere! So let me be the first to say; They're not for everyone. You're beautiful, and awesome just the way you are. Mwah
Logically I know that for most people tattoos are about self-expression, but subconsiously I've always seen them as self-modification. Changing yourself to better fit into a subculture, or a certain asthetic, or to please a partner. Like plastic surgery or something. I can't shake the feeling, so I guess they're not for me.
I also love tattoos, but I am very fickle and creative. I also just hate needles. My solution for this when I'm ready to buy them are those fake adult tattoos that stay on for a few months. It's amazing because I can change them out every few months, I don't have to have needles in my skin, and I can be as creative as I want and never have to have just one or as many as my skin will allow. They're also less expensive than really tattoos, well until you get too many.😂
I just simply don't have anything I care about to the severe enough degree that I would want it permanently engraved on my body. I've always thought maybe when a loved one dies that will be my first tattoo, or the name of my first child. Stuff like that, something crucial enough to the formation of your life that you want it permanently showing for everyone to see that this is what you care about most in life.
