@luciusnoll Ive been in military exercise with your mariens and majority arent even close to this physical fitness... One of youre generals (i think) wasnt even able to run a 5km run... These marines are in great shape!
yes, but - To be fair, being in good physical shape initially puts you at the top of the team. I prefer people with average physical fitness when martial skills come from elsewhere.
I just had the same thought... thinking he likely started from the very bottom as a underprivileged young man and built himself up into a leader.. respect
What impressed me most was these guys were honourable gentlemen throughout. Gracious in victory, noble in defeat. I wish this approach to sportsmanship was encouraged more in sport.
@acheesysensation7047 rage bait is what it is. There's no way someone would be brave enough to say racist stuff in 2025 without the fear of being cancelled/shut off from society
He's also gone against Olympic gold medalists (retired) and beat almost all of them. (A Norwegian show. All retired World champions.) For a challenge involving a combined 5 min arm hang, Margnus did it one go (setting a record for the show).
The first time I went to a bouldering gym there was a bookish looking man in 90's jeans, and Harry Potter glasses, reading on the mat. He was so uninvolved with his surroundings, other climbers in athletic wear, staring at the routes, mentally solving their climb. I looked back at him again and again and finally he got up, set his book down and climbed an insane route, totally inverted, like it was nothing. Then sat back down to read again. Thats when I fell in love with this sport.
I had a blast competing! It was such an intense competition. Thanks for the invite and shout out to the editors for making me look somewhat respectable 😂
@JohnL-m2l I think what he means is if there was 7x magnus, or that he got to rest, ofcourse there is no way going back to back even 2 or 3 of the excercises.
(Marine vet here) the average marine you see really isn’t all that. The marines does have a lot of hidden monsters but our training won’t really make them monsters, it is something they have to do on their off time. Now, if you see a marine with a “tan tab” on their mcmap belt, you already know they are above average marines physically. The tan tab allows them to train other marines up to their belt but the physical training to get that tab is intense! Now a red tab is rare to see and those people are true monsters. They go through some of the hardest training and that tab allows them to train other to get their tan tabs. Never seen anybody with a tab that wasn’t a straight beast.
I find it weird the marine only did 67, even in Navy bootcamp that was the average amount of pushups, not even the athletes, the athletes in my navy bootcamp would do over 100 pushups perfect form no problem, i’m just genuinely surprised he got so little
5:50 There's one man in the world who really can plank all day: The Guinness World Record holder Josef Šálek, who held a plank for NINE HOURS, THIRTY EIGHT MINUTES AND FORTY-SEVEN SECONDS!
Dude's a beast, absolutely. You can also tell he's got a ton of competitive spirit but is very humble about it. Always willing to push himself as hard as possible.
Yea hahah so true. There are climbers a lot stronger. But also there are marines a lot stronger. A retired marine had the record for 8hrs 15min on plank for a while there!
Hope you guys know endurance beats mass so it doesnt matter how much muscle you have or build up, you need to know how to use them and distribute body weight properly. You also dont need to build muscle mass to gain strength, you can become just as strong and not look as big especially if you stretch b4 and after you work out and also depending on the exercises you do
Almost every pt instructor for every pft I went to would do that. Always a ripped guy or woman that as soon as they got to demonstrating the "No bicycling" they were just flexing on the rest of us
@nikoneoratp man, pay attention. We are not talking about the marine who ran against Magnus. We are talking about the second Marine to run the obstacle course. The second Marine didn't touch.
At the beginning the leader allowed each team to send who they want. After the marines lost a bunch of times, he started requesting specific ones 'Don't be sending Magnus to kick our asses at everything' :)
It was fair, and that's all we could ask for...He could have been biased, but matched them equally based on size/strength...Hope they got contact info; A few marines are good friends to have!!!
@Sluchayniy That isn't bad form, it just works out the chest more than the triceps. It isn't a less valid pushup or the instructor would have included that in the directions. He just had to stay straight and do full rom.
@radix5315 if you want to work out the chest, you move the palms away from each other, not the elbows. The elbows always have to be kept close to the body, that’s the proper form. I can do twice as many pushups with elbow flare
@OngoGablogian185 Dude could have good genes too. I didn't see any varicose veins(really squigly "S" shaped veins) on the dude, which is a sign of roid use. It's caused by high blood pressure
@MurkyWaters677 You have no clue what you're talking about if you don't realise that guy is blasting juice. And I've been in the Marines - lots of guys use. The signs are obvious. Two of them in this video are on.
The thing i like about Magnus is that he doesn't rip his shirt off any moment he gets. That man is pure muscle but he never shows off. Humble and kind. Great guy!
@Kimloost My guess is they're thinking of the climbers that die from climbing big outdoor routes? Magnus doesn't do much of that, aside from his free solo video he did with Alex Honnold
16:00 I love how they realize that they are evenly matched at this point and are giving each other tips on running here. They are gaining comrades and forming a bigger team. That is cool.
Yes, pro tips on running was beast. You can see that's their expected response after competition. To share the skills which lead to victory and increasing overall skill and future competition. This is way better then those UFC goofs kicking people with the mouthguard falls out.
Magnus is the ultimate sleeper build. Normally you hide the strength under the shirt. Magnus hides the strength under his muscles. He looks strong shirtless but then you see just how incredibly strong he is, it's wild.
@tappajaav yes there is a correlation BUT you can become really strong without getting big muscle and you can get big muscle without becoming really strong. The way climbers train is to get as strong as possible with as less weight as possible. There are 2 reasons for it. One is the connection between the brain and the muscle and the other is that the muscle cells can be build in different ways. I was once told what happens on a cellular level but I forgot it.
@ Well for starters there are multiple different types of muscle cells - body grows various types depending on the given stimulus. Then there's myofibrillar & sarcoplastic hypertrophy. Myofibrillar hypertrophy means creation of new muscle fibers, while sarcoplastic enlargens the existing ones. Think of "sinewy" muscles vs "showroom" muscles
I kind of wish they would have regulated a bit more. Either both can take shoes off, etc. or neither of them get to, that sort of thing. I'd be interested to see in a more strict/controlled aspect.
I don't think Magnus is your average climber, I haven't finished the video yet, but so far in what Magnus competed in, he is undefeated and not by a small margin. Magnus is a super-soldier.
I love how the marines are so composed for the entire competition regardless whether they win or lose each category. But then they have a massive celebration at the end. You can really feel the energy.
you have to remember that Magnus pretty much got into the French Foreign Legion special forces, into the Norwegian Special Forces and a couple of other ones that I'm probably forgetting right now..he's no joke. He could 100% be a top tier operator, if he wanted to.
Nope. The fitness test is designed to screen people out. You aren't doing this stuff for a day, a week, a month, or even a year. Depending on the program, it can take over 2 years before you are even graduated from a pipeline. Within the pipeline, you can be kicked out for performance issues or if the instructors don't think you'll be a good fit. The hardest thing is to make adjustments mentally and academically while being tired all the time. Anybody can perform while being fresh,. But, can you do it while being hurt, tired, hungry, sleep deprived, and stressed?
@boogaloo4640 Bro, that's not even for a full cycle. He didn't even go through the normal process just to make it to selection. I can go on and on, but seriously study the pre-selection and selection process before making an opinion on something you know very little about. Also, don't cut half of what I said out. You left out the academic knowledge part and the teamwork. His video btw, is nothing compared to a real selection. Passing per-screener exercises doesn't mean anything. The real work begins once you graduate from a pipeline, go to specialty school, and thrive inside a team while balancing life.
@user-bh9vf2zu1r I imagine Magnus would pass any psychical test/training series in the military, he is one of the best athletes I have ever seen. You are right though, that doesn't mean he would be a good soldier- I doubt it would suit him.
Prob getting flack for this, but Jasons planck stance was wayy harder than the marine one. Jasons stance is what you wanna do if you want to gain maximum core muscle training, whereas the marine stance, is what makes you last longer because the tension is about 1/3 less on the core muscles, and transitioned over to the shoulders/elbows. No hate, just pointing out he would have lastet way longer if he used the same stance as the marine.
I thought same thing. His elbows are too spread apart making all the weight focus on that and not using mainly his core…Asian boy clearly never learned in gym class 😂
Don't like that he had boots on the first challenge while magnus had socks - you wouldn't think it, but it changes the equation A LOT. Edit: I'm an idiot, he literally said that after the test. My man.
17:40 So the climbers had to use someone who just ran 400m, the marines with two people that had the longest rest. And did the last marine touch the top of the rope?
I’m a 65-year-old grandma who was an outdoor badass in my day. This is like comparing apples to oranges. They are all great athletes in their own ways. None of these Marines could go out and do what these climbers do. I admire athleticism because I know the hard work it takes in no matter what you do. Great job to all of them❣️
As a 70+ former UK Marine I agree with what you say (I have always admired the strength and flexibility of the very few rock climbers I know) BUT - by the same logic these climbers could not go out and do what Marines do EVERY day of the week. As you say apples v oranges, or horses for courses, but entertaining non-the-less! best wishes from UK. ns
As an ex dancer ,classical and modern ,,we would train / have classes 8hrs a day ,,we did pushups ,on toes , feet str ,then repeat with one leg lifted, each side ,,it would add up to many more than these guys did , and that would be first lesson warm up .. Greatest advantage was how little i weighed at the time ,,,,with pullups and rope climbing the biggest challenge is how much these guys weight ,,muscle is WAY heavier than fat ,,
Wow. The Climbers are super impressive. What do you do to get such strength and endurance? Marines will always have my heart and highest respect❤️. So proud of you and so proud of USA!
Im in the military but tbh climbers won...Max did a pull up at the top of the rope at the end thinking he won, instead of jumping down and running back. GG's though boys
@jumpjetcaptain495Yeah there's a storror video where Toby does a 30 minute+ hang, I think Magnus would be on that level. Probably could have won the hang with 20kg weights added.
No Pete beat all of storra in hang so they got Magus in as a ringer Pete did 90 minutes Magus 60 and then they agreed to drop at same time as Magus didn't think it was fair@alexsappington1587
That was fun to watch! I appreciated the sportsmanship of both teams. At 17:20, I think it was a little unfair though that Max was chosen to participate in the last challenge when he had just run before, whereas the marine he was up against got to sit it out, so Max was already tired.
amazing to see takano and geekclimber, also the marines and climbers were very humble and respectful, and not in the cringe but honorable way. the host was amazing too, great video
@tappajaav It's nice online to interpret people in a charitable way. I'm interpreting it as "false modesty", in which one is humble and respectful on a surface-level but it's obvious to spectators that it isn't genuine. With these marines, the respect and camaraderie seemed to me genuine and sincere.
Absolutely love all your videos Magnus, being a Finnish army reservist I love seeing you upload collaborations with different militaries from around the world, much love mate
4:34 He's just as tired as you are. Immediately shows Sgt stone cold still. lmao I love it 9:20 Meanwhile Magnus' 65th pushup looked exactly like his 1st pushup.
@ZesPak Not really, his legs were too close to the ground which made it so much more easier. I'd say the other guy had bad form too but bad form that made it harder in some ways and easier in others. The marine had the easier form to do it.
Respectful? the marines cheated. first the marine leader started picking out who does what competition. how is that fare? then he lets the second guy cheat on the rope climb... cheaters
Love this video. Perfect example that the format works just as well without all the shouting and fake trash talk, that most other fitness influencers like to engage in (not that there's anything with with that, either, but this one is refreshing).
I would not normally watch fitness stuff, but the respectfulness and total guy vibe without the egos made me watch till, the end. I would expect my son to be a gentleman, like they are. Well done!
The Marine did a good amount of pushups, and very rapidly, but I've seen dudes that can do 90-100+ pushups in 2 minutes during APFT, typically people who heavy bench press. As a reservist, I think I capped slightly over 80, and I didn't exactly do this exercise regularly, nor am I a fitness guy. I was also in my late 20s. By comparison, the length the Marine held onto the bar in the hanging position was kind of nuts. Mind you, I could probably barely hit 30 reps optimistically right now since I haven't done a pushup in about a year, but in a month I could probably do 60 without stopping if I really wanted to, but I've gotten lazy and I hate doing pushups these days. It's a weird exercise, and the lactic acid buildup when you get above 60 reps is kind of agonizing, even when you're in shape. 50-60 pushups is probably average for most active duty soldiers on a PT test. We had a female soldier that did over 50 during BCT, and she looked like a donut hole.
I love that Magnus hand picked two nerdiest looking climbers for the competition. They looked so harmless but so strong!
He also picked some scrawny looking marines 😂
@luciusnoll Ive been in military exercise with your mariens and majority arent even close to this physical fitness... One of youre generals (i think) wasnt even able to run a 5km run... These marines are in great shape!
@luciusnoll close weight class, it'd be unfair if it were bigger dudes
@luciusnoll Wouldn't call them scrawny, and being big is a disadvantage in these types of challenges.
Look at the forearms that is what reveals a climber.
That guy moderating the challenge is an absolute tank
For sure. That red stripe on his belt means he's a martial arts instructor as well, which is tough and takes time.
yes, but - To be fair, being in good physical shape initially puts you at the top of the team. I prefer people with average physical fitness when martial skills come from elsewhere.
This guy should have played Roland in the Boarderlands movie.
@sourotaste5784 Exactly
He didn't mod that well though, tech was all over the place for several of these challenges
The guy in charge has game show host energy and I love it 😂
He's very charismatic
God, did you see his arms!!!
He is indeed good at presenting
@zie9171 he's on the verge of looking like he injects himself with oil
I just had the same thought... thinking he likely started from the very bottom as a underprivileged young man and built himself up into a leader.. respect
What impressed me most was these guys were honourable gentlemen throughout. Gracious in victory, noble in defeat. I wish this approach to sportsmanship was
encouraged more in sport.
yeah its jarring seeing even a crumb of that from blacks
@Michael_Jones1111tf is wrong with u
@acheesysensation7047 rage bait is what it is. There's no way someone would be brave enough to say racist stuff in 2025 without the fear of being cancelled/shut off from society
It's his brain
@Michael_Jones1111 Wow you actually made me cringe. Congrats
Technically it's Marines vs French Legion honorary member Magnus.
Nope. Magnus is much older than any Marines or French Legion competitor, if Magnus was younger he could be even better.
@7947-d1n get a life
@alexeyakulovich4737 see Magnus previous video on french legion. Thats what the poster meant.
@7947-d1nwatch the other videos he is…
Actually it's three marines vs two climbers and one crazy dude.
pumping out 70 clean pushups like that without specifically training for it is madness. super impressive
@snoopdagg7900 Not sure you know what average means, but you do you
@snoopdagg7900Sure, upload a vid of it lil bro with proper form 😂😂😂
@HexishuDo it!
I'm 60y old and can do that...
@jimmybondy9450 Did you have any previous training?
People have to remember that magnus has passed multiple elite military training in multiple different countries. Magnus is an absolute beast
He's also gone against Olympic gold medalists (retired) and beat almost all of them.
(A Norwegian show. All retired World champions.)
For a challenge involving a combined 5 min arm hang, Margnus did it one go (setting a record for the show).
And a ninja warrior.
yeah i didnt know he was a climber i thought he was EX special forces.
Let's be honest, as elite as marines are, they are no competition for a world class athlete.
And he won all his challenges, including the first lap of the O course.
I so wonna meet that guy
Mesmo o cara sendo bom, não gosto dessa postura blasé que você descreveu kkkkk
@50dranit was like watching an assassin in nerd camouflage
Awesome! Bulk doesn’t necessarily mean strength.
18:51 not the sergeant just casually doing the obstacle course behind them while filming 😂
hands free too 😭
😂
To be fair, everyone in the competition is a straight up unit. But I agree, the sergeant running things is impressive.
😂😂😂
He wasn’t doing the course, he was running alongside it to film
I had a blast competing! It was such an intense competition. Thanks for the invite and shout out to the editors for making me look somewhat respectable 😂
LFG!!!
Helllll yeah Max, string bean energy 💪💪🫛🫛
That Marine was "cheating" on those push - ups...
You were great!
No disrespect but you threw at the end lmao
Basically if magnus went against every round it would be 7 0😂
well Magnus is an ex pro, while the others are not.
There's no way Magnus could have kept up that intensity after fatigue set in.
@JohnL-m2l I think what he means is if there was 7x magnus, or that he got to rest, ofcourse there is no way going back to back even 2 or 3 of the excercises.
French foreign legion vs US marines. 7 - 0
Eh the running would be a potential loss : )
(Marine vet here) the average marine you see really isn’t all that. The marines does have a lot of hidden monsters but our training won’t really make them monsters, it is something they have to do on their off time. Now, if you see a marine with a “tan tab” on their mcmap belt, you already know they are above average marines physically. They go through some of the hardest training and that tab allows them to train other to get their tan tabs. Never seen anybody with a tab that wasn’t a straight beast.
I did not know that
Cool story bro
Wait so the host guy is actually a monster marine
Magnus beating a marine is a pushup contest, then doing a few more while making it look easy is insane.
I find it weird the marine only did 67, even in Navy bootcamp that was the average amount of pushups, not even the athletes, the athletes in my navy bootcamp would do over 100 pushups perfect form no problem, i’m just genuinely surprised he got so little
@Vune_GGstop fucking lying bro. What a boot-ass comment
yeah i now a marine that could do 60 1 handed pushups in 60 seconds wining bets for drinks in my bar
@Vune_GG They're less serious in basic tbf lol. I got 10 more in basic than I ever did elsewhere
See the sarcasim there🥴
Max' run through the obstacle course was actually mad impressive for what I assume was his first time going through it or anything too similar.
He has done obstacle course challenges before with a couple of military units, including the French Foreign Legion.
Seriously, I thought he was going to get destroyed, I was blown away. The funny thing is he lost the lead on the rope climb! lol
@Daniel-ng8fi i mean the other guy didnt really go all the way to the top imo ..
Yeah, he smashed it damn. He just forgot you have to run back at the end 😅
@Cupofgohe's not talking about Magnus.
Thanks for inviting me to participate in this competition! It was super fun, but sorry for contributing 2 losses 😅
You did great man!👍
Marines were lucky to not put a heavy weighted pull-up exercise against you.
Nice to see alongside Magnus, you come a long way
You did great 👍
You've come a long way from being that "Average Guy" ;)
5:50 There's one man in the world who really can plank all day: The Guinness World Record holder Josef Šálek, who held a plank for NINE HOURS, THIRTY EIGHT MINUTES AND FORTY-SEVEN SECONDS!
That’s fucked up 😭
i know alot of people who do calisthenics to the point where doing a plank doesnt effect them anymore
😮😲😳
a czech person???
@mxxkmsYes he’s Czech 🇨🇿
Magnus is an all around athlete. He is competent in anything that requires physical strength and endurance
@CaptainTodger69 We don't talk about the incident...
His mental strength is crazy too!
@CaptainTodger69 or let him swim :D
His swimming is okay, but nothing special.
And mental 💪💪💪
Dude's a beast, absolutely. You can also tell he's got a ton of competitive spirit but is very humble about it. Always willing to push himself as hard as possible.
I like how none of these guys are professional climbers (except Magnus, and he's retired) and it was still so close
Yea hahah so true. There are climbers a lot stronger. But also there are marines a lot stronger. A retired marine had the record for 8hrs 15min on plank for a while there!
Magnus’ L sit was a great ad for Rúngne socks… I suddenly find myself wanting a pair.
his two pull ups after he won was such a flex too lol
@soulofartorias9928 he could only do that because of the socks.
@soulofartorias9928The marine was an idiot for wearing his boots though, handicapping himself
Hope you guys know endurance beats mass so it doesnt matter how much muscle you have or build up, you need to know how to use them and distribute body weight properly. You also dont need to build muscle mass to gain strength, you can become just as strong and not look as big especially if you stretch b4 and after you work out and also depending on the exercises you do
It helps to not wear boots like the other guy too.
Muscle doesn't mean anything, it's force and strength. Good competition. Real sportsmanship.
when he was demoing the pull-up, that bicycle was more a flex than a demo, brother is built like a tank
Almost every pt instructor for every pft I went to would do that. Always a ripped guy or woman that as soon as they got to demonstrating the "No bicycling" they were just flexing on the rest of us
Being super muscular isn't always an advantage with pull-up competitions. Muscle is heavy
@AdamR-j1owhich makes it even More impressive the Bulkier Marine was able to pump out 17.
Magnus is all class. He knew dude didn't actually finish the rope climb at the end but he didn't insist on it.
Can't believe their posturing despite knowing that. 💀
He finish it, look when Magnus get down he tap with his hand
@nikoneoratp we're not talking about Magnus' guy, we're talking about the second guy. He decidedly did not finish.
@ I'm talking about the other guy too, i said when magnus get down the other guy tap the top with one hand
Idk if Magnus was an "Elite level Athlete" but if he was those elite level guys are just a different kind of beast even among professional athletes.
Yeah the seargant kept picking max to go for events even when he was gassed out
@Friendly_Gbro what? They all went twice. He picked max because he was the only one who hadn’t went yet 😭
The first competition was not rhe same as one had boots on and the other only socks.
Bro tf the marine was doing instead of a plank, the climber deserved that point
I like how stoic marine guys are. Even when they are exhausted, they just don't show it, so you could break mentally, not necessary physically.
You've got that backwards.
They can break physically, but not mentally. That's what counts.
Put your boots on....
and they always go back to their "standing position" automatically. Spread legs, crossed arms, straight back.
@TerribleTom113 100%
@TerribleTom113 theyre already broke mentally. its required for them to be made into a marine.
0:12 “you have us, climbers” then zooms in on the biggest smile there 😂😂 I love it
Biggest and geekiest
It's a war smile 😅
Magnus with perfect pushup form throughout
The elbows of both were bending way too far from the body. That form was not perfect
@Sluchayniy allot better than those quarter reps the other dude was doing
@Sluchayniy That isn't bad form, it just works out the chest more than the triceps. It isn't a less valid pushup or the instructor would have included that in the directions. He just had to stay straight and do full rom.
marines last 10 push-ups weren't push ups anymore
@radix5315 if you want to work out the chest, you move the palms away from each other, not the elbows. The elbows always have to be kept close to the body, that’s the proper form. I can do twice as many pushups with elbow flare
Magnus you're a beast. Completing the course that fast against a guy who does this for a living and should be 5-10 years younger than you. Respect.
the referee looks like he could literally wipe the floor with everyone, on every exercise lmfaoo
Yeah, steroids work.
the hood vibe
@OngoGablogian185 Dude could have good genes too. I didn't see any varicose veins(really squigly "S" shaped veins) on the dude, which is a sign of roid use. It's caused by high blood pressure
@MurkyWaters677 You have no clue what you're talking about if you don't realise that guy is blasting juice. And I've been in the Marines - lots of guys use. The signs are obvious. Two of them in this video are on.
@OngoGablogian185the white kid is natty
"You're going up against Marines".... "Oh cool, let me grab my Adidas sandals and I'll be right there"
The thing i like about Magnus is that he doesn't rip his shirt off any moment he gets. That man is pure muscle but he never shows off. Humble and kind. Great guy!
unless he's climbing. Being shirtless while climbing gives him superpowers
I honestly hope that he lives a long, long life. Far too many climbers haven’t.
@ChrisHyde537 i don't know much about climbing.... why is that? accidents or health issues?
Yes, and he clearly sometimes put the brakes on to stay sportive. Nice one.
@Kimloost My guess is they're thinking of the climbers that die from climbing big outdoor routes? Magnus doesn't do much of that, aside from his free solo video he did with Alex Honnold
5:10 he looked very low to the ground but idk if its just his baggy pants
he has bad form. his core is not even engaged.
I thought the same. He looks like he is doing a comfortable yoga position, not a plank.
Ya but the rock climbers was really bad especially his arms...he should've won if they both had correct form, neither did imho
@lupusmomma The form of the rock climber looked like it was maximizing difficulty. While the other guy is barely working his core.
Think they were both cheating on opposite ends. One was too high other was too low
Insane... Magnus always has incredibly strict form OR he calls himself out whenever it's not strict. What a guy
I love how supportive Magnus is throughout the whole thing, almost like a mentor. Very nice to see such attitude.
His team is more supportive - more teamwork to push each other.
If it's really close - that counts
16:00 I love how they realize that they are evenly matched at this point and are giving each other tips on running here. They are gaining comrades and forming a bigger team. That is cool.
Yes, pro tips on running was beast. You can see that's their expected response after competition. To share the skills which lead to victory and increasing overall skill and future competition.
This is way better then those UFC goofs kicking people with the mouthguard falls out.
Nah marine gassed himself to win a rigged race then was acting cocky
@mikegillihan4428 I am blocking your negative vibes.
@mikegillihan4428 when's the last time you ran with your legs and not just by pushing X? No one likes a hater.
Magnus and some dudes he met at GameStop vs marines
I’m so early there’s still chalk on the screen
Chalk on my screen from the climbing gym
Nobody asked
@Djellowman I know right? Bro busted a nut on his screen, let it dry up and calls it chalk
I got liquid chalk all over my screen 🤤
@Day100 Oh you naughty naughty
Dont think my pilates instructors would consider what the marine was doing to be a plank at all
If my opponent came to record a fitness challenge in slides, I would give up immediately
"you're not gonna.. bicycle when you pull up" ... sir, respectfully, nobody was thinking of doing that lmfao love the host and this series
Magnus is the ultimate sleeper build. Normally you hide the strength under the shirt. Magnus hides the strength under his muscles. He looks strong shirtless but then you see just how incredibly strong he is, it's wild.
It's because his muscles are flat rather than lumpy. Hides how much there really is.
Viking genes
Strength and muscles aren't interchangeable
Alternative title: Professional Athlete tries to carry two dudes against marines in fitness challenges
Was a unique experience having Magnus train in my area and getting to compete with him, super nice humble guy and an absolute beast
I kind of wish they would have regulated a bit more. Either both can take shoes off, etc. or neither of them get to, that sort of thing. I'd be interested to see in a more strict/controlled aspect.
Bro does not have time to recover between videos 💀
I don't think Magnus is your average climber, I haven't finished the video yet, but so far in what Magnus competed in, he is undefeated and not by a small margin. Magnus is a super-soldier.
Yeah dude is a beast
Magnus was a world class climber back in his day
I love how the marines are so composed for the entire competition regardless whether they win or lose each category.
But then they have a massive celebration at the end. You can really feel the energy.
barely won lmao
@TesseractBrick OP never mentioned anything about winning
That’s called Bearing. One of the 14 leadership traits
The white guy wearing white was so obsessed with shoes
magnus not doing the pullup comp hurt my soul lol
What would be the point, though? We don't have them compete in deadlift or rock climbing either. It's more interesting to keep the challenge close.
Too easy to win that for magnus
it was so unfair to put the marine after push ups. And if we didn't go against magnus in push ups he would win
you have to remember that Magnus pretty much got into the French Foreign Legion special forces, into the Norwegian Special Forces and a couple of other ones that I'm probably forgetting right now..he's no joke.
@boogaloo4640 he's just saying theres a uge difference mentally being there, performing for a few days. vs doing that shit every day for years.
@ I agree with you on that point. There is a difference in being a career soldier and an athlete.
@Slizzeroo that last part sounded like it had some malice on it dude
@SlizzerooWhy not just call him 'the climber'?
@Slizzeroo “Asian boy” is crazy, that man has a name
which one is jason?
Don't like that he had boots on the first challenge while magnus had socks - you wouldn't think it, but it changes the equation A LOT.
Edit: I'm an idiot, he literally said that after the test. My man.
21:00 Who's "This guy on RUclips"?
17:40 So the climbers had to use someone who just ran 400m, the marines with two people that had the longest rest. And did the last marine touch the top of the rope?
Was thinking the same, typical Marines :) Was still great performance from all
"just ran 400m" when you watch an edited video. It seems reasonable to assume he had some time to rest.
@andeolevain Still less rest than the others.
I'm suprised you're the only one that caught on to these. It's probably because majority of the viewers are ultranationalistic americans.
had to search for the rope touch. even the climber was like "wait did he touch?"
As you say apples v oranges, or horses for courses, but entertaining non-the-less! best wishes from UK. ns
I was pretty sure a “and even she could do more push-ups” joke was incoming. Wasted opportunity, 😂
@nuttysquirrel8574 obviously, that’s why they won.
Yeah if we're ever attacked we need to call the climbers to protect us. 🙄
7:57
Magnus: i did one
Marine: oh shit...
😂😂
And the obstacle course was amazing considering you have people that do it regularly vs first time the runners ever saw it.
4:00 Climbers Back is arched.
The senior marine has natural talent for tv. Great vid!
He's probably Haitian. Which would explain why he let his boy cheat on the rope climb
Magnus going to prove climbers are just the ultimate breed 😂😂
2:10 clean front lever at this point is pure domination holy shit
No L sit pull-up to front lever was some gymnastics level shtt.
U guys made the marines look huge in the thumbnail and then in the first second we see that they’re all about the same size lol
Magnus would have beat these guys all by himself. No questions about it!
Especially the hanging competition!
@alexsappington1587 that's with readjusting and shaking out each arm and not a strict hang
Look at the running guy, he would have won 100%. He was just being humble, I’m sure he could have beaten the time in this by ten seconds. So 6:1.
That was fun to watch! I appreciated the sportsmanship of both teams. At 17:20, I think it was a little unfair though that Max was chosen to participate in the last challenge when he had just run before, whereas the marine he was up against got to sit it out, so Max was already tired.
Yeah, what the hell was that stupidly unfair pick..
They had to do it man...can't let Marines lose to a bunch of climbers
I thought that too, but Max probably had a height advantage on that course as he was going over pretty much everything rather than under.
And look closely, the marine doesn't even touch the top? That's cheating lol
And not like the 400m is really a strength test anyways.
Awesome seeing the chess club beat the marines in an athletic event. Nicely done guys.
Magnus is a freak of nature, hes so strong at about 70kg
amazing to see takano and geekclimber, also the marines and climbers were very humble and respectful, and not in the cringe but honorable way. the host was amazing too, great video
How can one be humble and respectful "in a cringe way" ?
@tappajaav It's nice online to interpret people in a charitable way. I'm interpreting it as "false modesty", in which one is humble and respectful on a surface-level but it's obvious to spectators that it isn't genuine.
With these marines, the respect and camaraderie seemed to me genuine and sincere.
@tappajaav if you stop caring about being cringe, nothing is cringey anymore
@Hhhh22222-w False. It remains cringey but you just don't care.
Absolutely love all your videos Magnus, being a Finnish army reservist I love seeing you upload collaborations with different militaries from around the world, much love mate
Has he done the Finnish special forces? He needs to. I imagine you guys are tough AF with your shtty eastern neighbors.
4:34 He's just as tired as you are.
Immediately shows Sgt stone cold still. lmao I love it
9:20 Meanwhile Magnus' 65th pushup looked exactly like his 1st pushup.
11:36 when he tries to go in for the handshake but his hands are too numb
Marine Push Up Guy wasn't even doing proper form, man was lobstering after every pushup
True, but then the marine doing the plank had much better form than the climber...
@ZesPak Not really, his legs were too close to the ground which made it so much more easier. I'd say the other guy had bad form too but bad form that made it harder in some ways and easier in others. The marine had the easier form to do it.
should have done the plank in the flip-flops for style points
I really liked the mellow and respectful tone between the competitors! Impressive work from everyone! So nice to see a chill vs video!
Respectful? the marines cheated. first the marine leader started picking out who does what competition. how is that fare? then he lets the second guy cheat on the rope climb... cheaters
So climbers are basicly spiderman, nerdy, skinny and strong
Magnus been pushin his limit lately
Should've done 3v3 in the tie braker. None the less, great video as always Magnus, amazing to see you always find something new for the channel.
It was nice of them to give the marines a chance by adding some other rock climbers.
I love the mutual respect. Also, freaking 70 pushups with perfect form. Hot damn!
Finally one of these style videos where it’s not complete one side dominance lol. Good comp! Both killed it
Big salute from a Senior Sergeant from Norway to the US Marines! You guys are great!
No YOU'RE great
Love this video. Perfect example that the format works just as well without all the shouting and fake trash talk, that most other fitness influencers like to engage in (not that there's anything with with that, either, but this one is refreshing).
Calm and quiet 'The job is the job' attitudes all round.🤘🙂
I would not normally watch fitness stuff, but the respectfulness and total guy vibe without the egos made me watch till, the end. I would expect my son to be a gentleman, like they are. Well done!
Definite advantage to marines on the last test, if not for that I think the climbers had it! Great job, guys!!
This is legit like watching a real game show and i love it. I mean the quality of this is easily on par with any tv show.
Love that u got someone else to present it as well, he was a very good presenter!
I love seeing Geek Climber's smile anywhere
I am always so impressed with how respectful your channel is! So complementary to everyone surrounding you.
19:08 damn Magnus flew up that rope
Magnus must have a strong back to carry his whole team like that.
Being prior service and a climber, the pushups was the only one that surprised me. But that's on me because you don't bet against Magnus.
Magnus is a freak of nature.
The marine did more pushups than Magnus.
@lu_re7198the marine did like 57 with good form. After that he was doing yoga poses
Being lighter body types is actually an advantage for a lot of these.
I loved the random shot of just grass and clover at 11:45
Crazy I read that comment exactly whilst the grass part.
same
3:48 does he know what flat back means
4:54 the guy's ass is not in line with his head AT ALL.
Just look how respectful they are to each other.... Y'all. This was a treat to watch.
1:38 "MANGUS" LOOOOOL
The last marine on the relay tapped the rope near the top while Max tapped the ring, so that was the race right there
Amen!
@heavenbound7-7-7-7 tf
Dude when Blaze jumped up for the dead hang it looked like he floated up there. Some crazy fitness in that crowd
THAT WAS SO FUN TO WATCH !!!! you all kept me on the edge of my seats !
Next: Ballet Dancers VS Magnus !!! Pllleaaassseee !!
