it's still very hard to conduct electricity with tap water. if you've done electrolysis before, you would know that you would add baking soda or salt to it to increase the ion's conductivity. (also how would you even use that property to test it?)

Because in hard water soap can react with magnesium and calcium ions but detergent cannot while in normal soap doesn't react then didn't produce scum

The tap water contains Mg2+ or Ca2+ ions, so when soap is added, it reacts to form the insoluble substances (scum). Whereas, in pure water there are no ions and no scum is formed when soap is added.

Sharing is Caring! Let the plants have it. It will then bear fruits which will contain some portion of the soapy water. Then grind the fruit into juice and drink it.

Just dont test the water, there is no need to test if water is tap or pure.

You can also heat the water up until it starts boiling. While pure water will make the temperature stop at 100°C, the temperature in not pure water will still increase by a little.
You could have used cobalt || chloride or copper two sulfate and check with a damp litmus paper

@@LavroseRovender tap water in the Baltic countries are so clean, it’s almost this distinguishable from bottled water.
for translating the comments, hard water means mineral water while soft water is distilled.
Distilled water doesn't have fluoride (among other things). So it tastes different from tap water.
you can also use a battery and notice way less bubbling in pure water

Distilled water does not conduct electricity due to absence of ions while tap water, containing minerals and salts conducts electricity. Using an LED will work better as compared to a filament bulb since the filament bulb needs a greater electric power to reach its ignition temperature while an lED bulb will light up in even the slightest of currents

So how did Miwu identify the Drinking water? well, the water we obtain from taps is hard. Hard water is unfit for drinking and does not lather with soap, but rather forms sticky scum. The water becomes hard in the following process: Rainwater dissolves carbon dioxide in it and when this mixture falls on rocks containing calcium or magnesium carbonate it thereby becomes hard. To make the water soft it has to be boiled. But the bald guy had not boiled the different samples of water. So, by treating it with soap/soap solution, one of them lathered while the other ones formed sticky scum. Another question, why did Miwu decide not to drink the samples of water? It is because hard water can upset the stomach. Hence, he came up with this method. Hope that helped those who did not understand. I am a 8th grader by the way.
Quick correction, there is no health risks to drinking hard water, so it is not unfit for drinking.
@@maxwell6881 There are no long term effects but it temporarily upsets stomach. Temporary hard water contains Magnesium/calcim bicarbonate, which difficult for the stomach to break down into simpler substances. This inturn causes temporary nausea or vomiting sensation. It will gradually stop after a period of time
Would trying to run a current through the water also work as a test, as the same ions that make the water milky when soap enters it, also allows the water to conduct electricity.
