I definitely want to get some of the helgrimite soft plastics. One of my favorites is the finese worm. Great video! John,
The $100 mark seems to be when rod quality goes up. If you shop Bass Pro or Cabella’s they sometime have some crazy deals. I have picked up $150 rods for $100 or less. Rods I could not afford otherwise. They all made a major difference in my fishing and are now my go to rods. Paired with a decent reel makes for a good day on the water. A balanced combo means less fatigue and more sensitivity.

Your videos are great, thank you. I will caution you on braid. On rivers it can be dangerous if you don't have quick access to scissors or a knife. It can cut a finger off if you get caught up in trees or the bottom and it will not break off. I do still use it some with a leader but you should just let your viewers know who canoe or kayak that they need to be able to cut it off if the situation gets bad fast.

Rooster Tails will catch fish (bass, sunfush, crappie, white bass, even catfish) when others fail. The 1/8-oz and 1/6-oz in brown, black, yellow, white, green, bumblebee... all killer. The biggest largemouth I've caught in creeks on one was 4.5 lbs. Smallmouth also like the crawfish pattern. Best creek smallmouth was 3 lbs 11 oz on Ft. I almost always use Finesse Bulletz jigheads with my Nikko and Zman baits. What's the point of paying for the most durable soft plastics you can buy if you're just going to break them off on a snag on the first cast? You can skin hook the plastics if you're in real snaggy water, or just let the hook lie along the back of the bait for surer hooksets. Love the Nikko Hellgrammite and Zman's TicklerZ, HogZ and TRD. (I guessed Georgia. Too bad there's no prize.)

I've noticed you hook your hellgrammite "sideways". That way when the hook lays flat the lure is belly down. Or is that just the way you grabbed it that day? LOL! And it has been said not to hook your lure in your line guide for fear of damage to the guide. Use one of the supports instead. Especially ( I would think) on a hundred dollar rod! Have you used in line spinners on bass. I know you've gotten trout but I can't remember if a spinner has worked for ya. And last but not least, what about a surface lure. Rebel Pop-R? As always, love the vids.

If you want to save money the bass pro shops xps flurocarbon is rebadged seagar red label. They make all of bass pros store brand fluro and ship it in the same boxes as the seagar stuff.

    Just to let you know
Because of your channel I've decided to go back to fishing I've not been in 6 years and I've only fished with live bait
I wish you could take the time to show us how to set up the bait and maybe how to reel the bait in

Hey John quick question: When you use a mono leader, are connecting it with a swivel or do you just use a knot?
