All of the air conditioners we scrap are and must be emptied by the hvac tech before we purchase them and if we come across one that is still full of gas I have a hvac friend who recovers and recycles all the gasses!
The ac you see in the video was emptied out of all gasses and then refilled with pressurized air from an air compressor so I could cut it open in this video to get more comments.. Should I make a video of how to re-pressurize a condenser unit with compressed air..?? hahahah

You obviously never passed the epa test. You definitely vented that gas that’s not compressed air. Not only illegal, immoral and terrible for the environment but a 40k fine. Not funny.

i haven't made it to the big time yet, commercial grade motors and transformers... still piddling with household stuff, but i've just started so... i like the way you went thru it all, (separated) and identified what was in the truck, lol, but at least where i'm at it doesn't snow...

haha I haven't made it to the big time yet either I wish I had but all we can do is one step at a time and keep working in the right direction. Slowly I'm starting to learn more and make more connections so it does get better slowly 👍

@CYRUS DAWSON, my plan is this: fours days a week in the van. Three days on the bike and an occasional day off. I say day off, I'm sure I'm like most scrappers, we still tend to do a bit of cleaning up of scrap and generally still scrapping. This is my favourite occupation I've ever had. I scrapped as a kid, as a teenager and now as an adult. I plan to always be a scrapper. As long as my body allows me to. All the best buddy.

Now, HERE'S a good question.. Do you keep it & melt it down or do you turn it in?? I'm melting mine down as I find it & turning them into 5lb bars of solid copper ingots, that of which I have 10 currently, with another 30-40lbs sitting in a tub waiting for spring to come back so I can start melting again.. (edit) I mean, you've already got the tools to extract it all, it's actually pretty fun to melt it all down & turn em into ingots, they look nicer too!!😁. There’s shops and scrap yards and private mechanics doing these things in shops around the world and no one is watching or paying attention or cares, it’s only when someone posts a video that all your environmental experts want to put their two cents in. If they really cared, instead of making a comment that had zero impact and changes nothing. Actually get up off your ass and go to auto shops and air conditioning heating companies. Take a camera with you and document and do something to take action!! Don’t just anonymously point out obvious shit just to feel important like you actually care. At the end of the day you should worry more about the obvious things that are plain for everyone to see. Worry about the blatant pollution and destruction of the planet we all need to survive! Every day you start your vehicle and drive it back n forth to work your daily emissions are far worse than the occasional release of refrigerant into the atmosphere. The fact remains. The tougher it becomes to have a garage or so called professional mechanic fix your vehicle, the more people who learn to make their own repairs at home and will cut corners and save whatever money they can. Most ac units in any car that’s not regularly maintained and are at least a couple years old will leak out all the refrigerant eventually. One rubber gasket , gets worn or dry rot and it will leak. Whoever complained about this guy, I’ll bet at least one of them is currently driving a vehicle that is leaking refrigerant or oil or coolant and isn’t even aware or is and don’t care. Moral of the comment is there’s much bigger problems and concerns that you can actually do something about. Also never assume what you see in a video is the whole story. People usually edit and don’t tell every detail. Which was the case in this video and most that I’ve seen people jump to conclusions and make assumptions. Pretty sure most have heard the saying when you assume, you make an ass out of yourself or something like that!! Thanks for the guy who took the time to make the video so it could help others. I’m sure he appreciates the assumptions of how he does or doesn’t do things!

I had the scrappers fuckin wet dream of an opportunity so a guy from green bay calls me and says he owns so and so business and he needs a guy with a truck to come out to his job address (taking 2 old parking lot light fixtures down and putting in led) the job had 380 or so light pole fixtures and there is 2 on every pole imagine the door of a dishwasher all the way around same size all cast aluminum wired with nice thick 10g house wire and a beefy transformer containing from 3-5lbs of copper on every one. Now remember almost 400 of them! The cast alone I made a killing
