He was onto something when he brought up the air resistance but that only matters if the feather is falling. A kilogram is still a kilogram regardless. Air resistance doesn’t affect the weight of an object
Nah. Things need to touch the ground to have weight so air resistance has nothing to do with weight. You can't weight a falling object, hence astronauts are "weightless" in space, because they're free-falling. Weight will only measure differently if object A and B, both the same mass, are measured in different places with different gravitational force i.e object A is measured on earth and object B is measured on the moon. Then object A will be heavier despite both having the same mass.
@@Lovarez you do have a point but so does he. I mean, the feathers are not compressed into a ball or something so the air lifts them up and the balance registers less than it should. At least, that is if I recall right what happened in one of my lab experiments I did when I was in 9th grade
@@inestabilidad the thing is, the way i assume you and ver are thinking about it would be that a mass empirically equivalent to 1 kg would then be weighed. but in an ideal situation, if one were to cut from a supply of cabbages, then pile them on to a scale until there was precisely 1 kg on a scale, that would be 1 kg. if .9 kg of feathers is on a scale, that is .9 kg of feathers. add enough feathers until there's 1 kg. air resistance is for objects in motion and is not applicable to a static system. all science and math is approximation. there would have to be a necessary margin of error specified for any variety of experiments. so if ver knew how to phrase this incongruence, he would really just be acknowledging that there would have to be some margin of error acknowledged if someone were to experiment and confirm that 1 kg of cabbages can equal 1 kg of feathers in a real life experiment. if a person looks at both sides of a scale, and says this .9 kg is equal to that 1 kg, they wouldn't be hired lmao.
@@nox_tech_ yeah, in a real life experiment you could get hired, specially if you work at NASA. And of course, we did have that margin of error back then, so in a serious context your answer would be more accurate
he's a smartpie 😭❣ and the fact that ver and shu have different approach on this question (shu said feathers catch dusts so it'll be heavier). these two will have the calmest yet so intense smart kids level debate ever existed in vtuber history
But so doesnt that mean it would take slightly more than a kilogram of feathers to show on a metric scale that it weighs a kilogram? Like he's saying a kilogram of feathers actually would show, in this example 0.9 instead of 1.0. So that means if you see on the scale 1.0 when weighing feathers, then it's actually more than that right so shouldn't the answer then be the feathers are heavier?
Shu also said this, I mean the way he said it is different like he talked about the atomic counts on the two choices etc... But their point is the same 😭 Imagine them having a nerge stream, I will definitely watch that
but the feathers have already been weighed. They came out to 1 kilo. If you're assuming air resistance is a factor when re-weighing them, why are you assuming it's not a factor when they were weighed the first time?
Cabbage is more dense than feathers so it experiences less buoyancy and is therefore lighter compared to the same mass of feathers, at least in air. So he actually is correct
The kilogram question remains equal as long as we say a kilogram, but the instant we go into Ounces, then the material involved actually changes the potential weight, as metals and minerals are weighed in Troy Ounces and most other things are weighed in Avoidupois Ounces
He's correct... but in quantity manner, you need a lot of feather for it to weigh 1kg than red cabbages that only needs 1-2 pcs (or more based on sizes).
ok but does hell yea one realize we're talking about _kilograms_ and weight- . The feathers way less because alongside the air resistance, the weight is still less even if it's the same amount of mass
Ok. Now imagine an argument between Ver and Shu. An argument between the two smartest kids in class.
I'd love to see this.
That is the debate of the century and I am definitely waiting for it to happen.
Like watching your two smartest friends go into a conversation that gradually turns into something only the two of them could understand lol
I need these two collab just for this.
I like to think that ver is like the love child of uki and shu. Doppio because of his voice I like a child of sonny and ren
Damn, on his SOUL, so that means his soul is red? 🤨

praying this nerdge collabs with shu yaminerd soon 🙏 (bonus for ver because shu's one of his oshis)
nijinerdge collab when? 😭 i'd love to see shu and ver have a debate, even if it'll eventually turn into something that's incomprehensible for me 😭
ahh I love kaichou lmao

Omfg why does he lowkey sound like the organic chemistry tutor..
why is he so funny
i see. i have a type for nerds. first shu now this man. i’m 😭
Hey atleast you have good taste👍
The amount of hatred he have for the cabbage is so hilarious
we have a smart man here
so THIS is why he's the president
I need a math tournament between shu and ver
kaichou so smart 😭😭😭
the results are all fascinating
It's just because mass and weight are not the same and instead of saying mass we say weight but Ver took the undertale geno route lmao
shu yaminerd and ver vermillinerd collab when

I’m not trash talking him but does anyone realise the fact that ver has the same colour pallet as red cabbage and no one never mentions it
That'll surely take a toll on his mind if someone said it lol
Someone tell him
I believe he acknowledged it on his debut stream and said to ignore it, I don't remember exactly 😂
then there's the fact that he doesn't like it
Ver’s mind is genuinely sexy.
I love the big-brain analysis, reminds me of Shu's analysis as well

Smart words, Kaichou!
Well, technically speaking you need to bundle it all up in a box or plastic to even weigh the thing...but understandable.
