Awesome video, horrendous to think tho that in reality so many men didn’t just back off and laugh a bit but blew off chunks, cut limbs, and spilled the guts of their fellow man..
They must have been pretty hard-nosed about it though. They had to just stand there and reload their rifles and keep the procedure up while people were dropping left and right. No time to grief, take cover or be scared that you might be next. You have to be numb and indifferent to make it through that.

in reenactments that follow historical lines, like this one, it is most likely based on who won the actual engagement. However, other reenactments that are not based on an actual battle may be decided before the "fighting" begins. All charges and melees will end like this or so for safety's sake.
Doing civil war reenacting, there are a few times where the confederates have been inclined to seemingly never take many casualties. There have been occasions where our captain has lost patience and ordered us to fix bayonets and charge, at least here they don't allow the usage of bayonets, so when bayonets have been ordered it generally causes them to fall back. But that's an entirely different situation than the european events
