Suggestion: add the ability to make cities and grow cities like a card and the first city that you place down can become the capital of the nation it is in, I would think of some buffs to having cities, but I can’t think of anything lol
They could add money into the game and small/medium/large expansions could be based off of how much money the selected nation has instead if how big it is. All expansions would still have a base amount of expansion tho, but i just thought your idea was cool 🙏 Hopefully tantan sees the is 🙏🙏🙏🙏
@pofesional3134 good idea and maybe the city size could have something to do with expansion or power and like the bigger, the city, the more power and maybe power can up the chance of getting large expansion card
i agree, cities would add much more depth to the game. cities are, with some exception of more migratory/nomadic peoples, the backbone of society and civilization
This project looks awesome: A small suggestion, make hard-passing terrain cost more to color, while easy-passing terrain cost less, so that empires' borders have an incentive to follow natural mountains, like in real life.
Some leaders have certain traits like "mountaineer" or "hill-dweller" maybe countries with these rulers could have a bones for those terrains? What would make rp a lot more fun
Horse riding empires could have a bonus to adding steppes, hills peoples could have a bonus for mountainous terrain, countries known for engineering like Rome could get less of a penalty for adding forests and rivers.
@@theheathenx it's possible, because i've also noticed those traits - but I haven't seen any useful information on how it affects painting depletion - it seems arbitrary at times, and that's a little disruptive.
This game is addictive, some of my suggestions: 1. Visible country name (toggleable) 2. Some kind of toggleable basic province overlay that you can orient yourself with 3. A higher cost for expanding over rivers or into mountains 4. A vassal relationship, the vassal changes to a similar hue as its overlord and cannot expand as much as before (and the overlord may gain the subject's "expansion points"); Maybe only polities half the size of the overlord can be vassalized; it would also be good if the overlord could add territory to its subjects 6. A toggleable automatic selection that switches through the nations on the map one by one
It would be cool if the overlord had some incentive to add territory to the vassal and with some card or move the vassal could go over a certain threshold and be able to revolt against the overlord and become independent again. That would make getting co-opted into a sphere of influence more fun.
@krakenloco not necessarily. It's more like your empire encountering a hill tribe or city state. When the nation is already surrounded it would function like creating a vassal state from your neighbours territory. Either way it would help to create/force more friction early on without resorting to civil wars/uprisings with splits.
Consider adding in a "diplomacy" tag between nations. That way if two nations are at "peace" then you won't accidentally draw over the other's borders, whilst if they are at "war" then they can.
could also in reverse get a "new city" card that could be founded somewhere in the nations borders and it'd be cool to see stuff change hands over time
Two suggestions: 1: Show how much the leaders traits boost what they do 2: Have someway to show off desert terrain, especially since the Sahara shouldn't really look the same as every other piece of land.
Suggestion: an end turn button. Sometimes I’ll get something like a large expansion and I’ll expand my nation a little bit and then I feel like I don’t want to expand it anymore for now, but I still have so much more left to expand. The end turn button could let you cut a turn short
to some extent i like being forced to keep expanding, i think of it as the people are wishing to live in more land and so the leaders are pressured to expand into disadvantageous terrain, colonize, or be forced to take over allied land.
I don't know if you read this but I think that the ability to view history as a time-lapse at some point would be really cool. That goes through my head every time I play this.
Respect brother I absolutely hate the concept of combining card game mechanics with global strategy but looks like you make it really good and interesting
Add AI so nations can expand and develop on their own. Also, can you make it so the nations name stretches across the empire, kinda like in Hoi4 and other map games. Also please change that font
Nice project man! I'm addicted to this game, really good and simple concept. Don't feel rushed on new updates, it's alredy awesome. I hope you could edit and then comfirm the borders, cause i had a lot of moments of accidental bordergore ngl
I rlly rlly like the Game and heres my suggestion: -Add smth like a Population Tab (ig) -Allow the Player to place cities (and name them) -Add Plague Cards or Disaster Cards -Add Alliance Cards
Idea: add ideologies and revolutions that would be customizable, also maybe add a Map editor Similar to ages of conflict, Ty. also adding mobile would be pretty cool if possible
I have a little thing to ask but perhaps make it so you can choose to draw a card for a nation or make a new one for the first 10ish turns to fill up the map
Suggestion: I don’t know how likely of an option it would be, but it would be kind of cool to see a possible randomized geography map. Allow for some players to make a whole new world. Could be fun for map makers with time on their hands.
Why is RUclips being nice to me all of a sudden. honestly five weeks of just the most random and nonsensical videos trying to be shoved down my throat by a algorithm which turns out to be a bunch of monkeys with keyboards starts to take its toll on a man, and now I get this and along with that other video from yesterday and with that one blender tutorial I have been searching for months suddenly getting recommend to me out of the blue. Oh and by the four major moons of Jupiter those weird ads are gone too.
one thing i'd honestly love to see is multiple lists of names for leaders, similar to what azgaar's fantasy map generator does for settlement or country names. it lets you to select a "namebase" for cultures which contains a list of cultural names and i think it could be great in this game
Add some diplomacy(wars, alliances, etc) and disallow countries to expand into another once an expansion card is drawn out, only in the wilderness(white), add population based on terrain quality, with diplomacy idea add ai for it to make decisions and draw cards, once a turn passes the map updates ai has made some decisions, expanded, new nations have to appear themselves, at least one per 10 turns, it's easy to suggest something but implementing it is hard so here's some ideas
Before I join the discord later and do this more officially, I want to suggest some kind of war mechanic that's more different to just expansion, or at least a way to expand to another civilisation's borders without accidentally taking their land
couple suggestions: could you add a universal card draw or turn order so its easier to keep track of what nation needs to make a turn. also, could there be a way to limit the number of nations so there isnt a million different splits. maybe a hand, so you can save cards for later, with some like split being mandotory control of probabilities of drawing cards. thats all LOVE the game
Maybe add penalties to expansion overseas, which could be reduced by certain nation's bonuses. That leads to tech tree and/or idea tree, so there's that. Other than that, love the thing! ❤
A turn order thing would be cool, as well as adding some kind of very simple and clear war system. Something SUPER simple, sort've like territorial io or whatever its called.
It would be nice if the map were seeded with resources and you could use your limited ability to paint territory to choose between critical ones. That way you could make a trade off between gaining area, minimizing border size and choosing strategic resources.
I have a small suggestion. When you're playing on PC, you should be able to click 1, 2, or 3 to change the paintbrush size instead of having to click it
@PaleTanTan would you like any art assistance with the UI? I believe I could help in that regard and make it match the world more. Game looks great though! Nice job!
i like the game a lot, so here is the obligatory suggestion: make it optional and not required to expand to the full extent that it lets you; sometimes I like my nations small or make city states. obligatory second suggestion, make a way to paint only one color while painting so that i wouldnt accidentally paint other nations or unclaimed land.
hi! this game is great, and i play it on linux, it works fine both with wine and proton. but native version would be really nice! and also, ive notced a bug. when you draw union from cards, and then click to draw again, the next time you choose a nation the select button is under the union button, and when clicked it causes entire nation to disappear
So many suggestions that I decided to drop some thoughts! Would be cool for some regions to be annexed easier than others based on factors. Mountain being harder and so forth
I initially had issues with downloading the game on Mac, but then it worked when I downloaded it through the Itch app (although I couldn't find it on the app, so I had to add it to my collection on the website first 😅)
I played it yesterday and its really fun! But, I lost my save. Can you make it so there's some easy way to doodle a quick world (like a cheat mode) so I can recreate it and play it again? It's fine if you can't
Suggestion: Upgrade the UI, the should be new textures for new cards and change the font. a civilization level system would be good also but focus on making better UI
I feel that splits come up too often. I'm just trying to make Persia and then it gets split like tree times in a row and now its the smallest nation on my map. I had to resort to save scumming to complete it. I feel with more cards this will iron itself out.
Hi. Please, for the love of god, make it so it's possible to skip cards (even if just once per turn.) I spent half an hour trying to make a unified Japan in the east-asia map and genuinely *could not do it* without getting a string of splits that meant another 20 turns trying to reunify it. It's awful. Please fix it.
hey just to let you know the orgin map is super wonky like for me it says rome once conquered and orgins some random greek stretches but it never even touched it
so there’s this game called Doodle Empires and nobody’s fucking talking about it and I don’t get why because it’s literally a gem in the rough like bro it’s a map game where you can draw cards like medium expansion or large expansion and just expand your nation but it’s not some brainless spam-click shit there’s a power bar that limits you realistically so you can’t just go crazy and color in the whole map like you’re five years old with crayons and you can name your nation which is fire but here’s where it starts to fall short because on the right they got the nation details like the leader’s name the leader’s ambition the origin of the country and land area but you can’t customize any of that which is wild because if I’m naming a country I sure as hell wanna decide if my leader is a power-hungry conqueror or a chill philosopher king y’know what I’m saying and then there’s the cards like the split nation card which is cool as shit because when you expand too much the power bar fills up and your nation stops expanding and then bam you can split it and create a whole chain reaction of tiny nations like history unfolding on your screen but even that feels like just the beginning because the game’s got events sure but where the hell are the rebellions bro I need rebellions I need resistance movements I need chaos if I’m playing a map game I don’t want my empire to just sit there looking pretty I wanna watch it crumble into civil wars and struggle for unification like give me uprisings give me coups give me rogue generals carving out new nations on my map and speaking of unifications yeah those are in the game too and that’s dope but why stop there like imagine if nations had relations with each other imagine alliances and betrayals imagine a trade mechanic or a tech tree or even goddamn diplomacy cards where I can decide whether to negotiate or send an army and yeah I know it’s a small game and it’s got potential but potential doesn’t mean shit if they don’t add the good stuff because right now it’s like an appetizer that tastes good but leaves you starving for the main course like I’m here creating history but I wanna rewrite the whole damn narrative bro rebellions alliances wars internal strife give me everything this game could be a banger but they gotta build on what they’ve started because it’s good but not good enough yet you feel me and this is my dream game history simulation you feel me and you could add bro I’m telling you Doodle Empires could be the next big thing if they just put in the work like the game’s got the bones but it’s missing the muscle like okay the cards are cool medium expansion large expansion yeah yeah that’s all fun but we need depth bro like real systems that make you feel like you’re running a nation not just doodling on a map because the split nation mechanic? fire absolute fire I love seeing a massive empire crack into a dozen tiny states and spiral into chaos but you know what makes history real? rebellions and civil wars like you expand too fast? boom unrest your people are mad the power bar fills up and instead of just stopping expansion you get rebels you get breakaway states the empire starts eating itself like I need that internal drama and another thing they gotta add is diplomacy because right now the nations just exist they’re like dead fish on the map but imagine if nations could ally or betray each other imagine puppet states or trade agreements like even just cards that say form alliance or declare war would go crazy bro and then you can have events that force choices like do you help your ally or backstab them for power because that’s the type of shit that builds stories in these games and the leaders and details on the side? wasted potential I don’t wanna just see a name and ambition I wanna pick the ambition maybe my leader’s a conqueror maybe they’re peaceful maybe they’re a madman who plunges the country into chaos like let me decide that and let me watch it play out maybe a leader dies and there’s a succession crisis maybe a new leader comes in with a whole different vibe and suddenly the country’s path changes completely and bro unifications are cool I’ll give them that but what if nations could fight to unify imagine rival nations competing for the same land like a card that says claim territory or support separatists so you could lowkey fund rebellion in enemy lands like how sick would that be and it’s not just for chaos it’s for strategy and storytelling this game has so much potential it hurts my brain like it’s right there on the edge of greatness but it’s missing the chaos it’s missing the layers and it’s missing the systems that make a map game addictive as hell they need rebellions diplomacy leaders with depth dynamic events and then bam this game could slap harder than anything else out there because right now it’s fun for like an hour but after that you’re just staring at your doodled empire like cool now what so devs if you’re out there listening fix this shit add the fire and make this game the banger it’s meant to be dates years months based on your time spending or what the heck just do things dude like I want chaos you feel me

actually about to say that

6 should absolutely be in the game, prevents tunnel vision
I'd like a 'select random nation' button. I got to a point where I was ignoring some nations and over focusing on others.
And if possible, a card like 'new nation' but where you must place the new nation somewhere on the borders of the nation that drew the card.
@@gwynplaine4198 that's basically just the split function, really

Maybe the ability to add cities to a nations map? Then when you get a split card you have to draw the new nation around a city?

You sold me on the first episode.
This is awesome! Please keep working on it!!
Do you plan to implement a feature to make your own maps or possibly convert images to maps? (such as azgaar)
You can make "scenarios," like the First Punic War, or the Bronze Age Collapse, or some points in history. And also a flag (customizer).
Idea: viewing history, everytime you draw a card history is updated and you can view the map before and after each change
I did a role play of the ancient world, half of my time was just an Egyptian civil war between Persian and native dynasties.
Suggestion: I don’t know how likely of an option it would be, but it would be kind of cool to see a possible randomized geography map. Allow for some players to make a whole new world. Could be fun for map makers with time on their hands.
Got your content recommended to me recently and I think it's great. We will watch your career with great interest
I think some settings allowing you to change how likely certain cards should appear would be good.

A great thing would be to become a multiplayer game. Most of us i think would like to play it with friends etc.
Yesterday I spend playing this game for 9 hours! Really fun for a map addict like me.
couple suggestions:
could you add a universal card draw or turn order so its easier to keep track of what nation needs to make a turn.
also, could there be a way to limit the number of nations so there isnt a million different splits.
maybe a hand, so you can save cards for later, with some like split being mandotory
control of probabilities of drawing cards.
thats all LOVE the game
Maybe add penalties to expansion overseas, which could be reduced by certain nation's bonuses. That leads to tech tree and/or idea tree, so there's that. Other than that, love the thing! ❤
I think you've gotta add a mode that allows all cards to be available each turn to make the tool more viable for mappers
A turn order thing would be cool, as well as adding some kind of very simple and clear war system. Something SUPER simple, sort've like territorial io or whatever its called.
This game is really cool! By the way is it possible for this game to come to mobile anytime soon?
This game is really cool and i wish to play it !
Dude when is Mp gonna be implemented and can you also add the hills around Benghazi
And a 'Revolution' card that makes you change the nation's colour and name.
And the rare possibility for combinations of cards. A double large expand for Genghis Khan
A 'balkanisation' card where t he nation splits into several nations based on it's size.
Also my idea for the nation: You could put the Hittites in Anatolia, prehaps competeing with the Greeks and Phoenicians
It would be nice if the map were seeded with resources and you could use your limited ability to paint territory to choose between critical ones. That way you could make a trade off between gaining area, minimizing border size and choosing strategic resources.
if u haven’t done this already, i may be deaf or have forgotten but you should make it so it costs more pixels/power to claim lands in the mountains
In my opinion the new nation should be venice
I have a small suggestion. When you're playing on PC, you should be able to click 1, 2, or 3 to change the paintbrush size instead of having to click it
I think the game should come to steam. Also, a sandbox mode would be really nice.
Idea for the new nation: Alpine Kingdom. A nation in the alps! Also, you should add a game mode where you can’t do a nations turn 2 times in a row.
it would be cool if you added name displays onto the map. im playing the game rn, and i think that would add a lot!
Gonna play this at school tomorrow lmao

I have been dreaming of this game!
Please make this an iPhone mobile app! New nation in Veneto
The bug with renaming nations, you can fix it by pressing the E button on the side of the name tab again to close it.
I now realise the sea of Marmara looks like a rat

You should definitely make the new nation the Huns, and put it in the Hungary/Romania area
I’ve found that it only renames everyone when you press enter as opposed to pressing the “e” button next to the name
New nation suggestion for this map: Assyria
we should call the nation Etrucsia
Let's go splits update
A big world map could also be cool
@@Ethan_waigand big world wont be done until around the full release of the game, at least that's what he said in the last video

and another thing they gotta add is diplomacy because right now the nations just exist they’re like dead fish on the map but imagine if nations could ally or betray each other imagine puppet states or trade agreements like even just cards that say form alliance or declare war would go crazy bro and then you can have events that force choices like do you help your ally or backstab them for power because that’s the type of shit that builds stories in these games
and the leaders and details on the side? wasted potential I don’t wanna just see a name and ambition I wanna pick the ambition maybe my leader’s a conqueror maybe they’re peaceful maybe they’re a madman who plunges the country into chaos like let me decide that and let me watch it play out maybe a leader dies and there’s a succession crisis maybe a new leader comes in with a whole different vibe and suddenly the country’s path changes completely
and bro unifications are cool I’ll give them that but what if nations could fight to unify imagine rival nations competing for the same land like a card that says claim territory or support separatists so you could lowkey fund rebellion in enemy lands like how sick would that be and it’s not just for chaos it’s for strategy and storytelling
this game has so much potential it hurts my brain like it’s right there on the edge of greatness but it’s missing the chaos it’s missing the layers and it’s missing the systems that make a map game addictive as hell they need rebellions diplomacy leaders with depth dynamic events and then bam this game could slap harder than anything else out there because right now it’s fun for like an hour but after that you’re just staring at your doodled empire like cool now what so devs if you’re out there listening fix this shit add the fire and make this game the banger it’s meant to be
dates years months based on your time spending or what the heck just do things dude like I want chaos you feel me
Can you make a online mode were each person can have one country and also make it mobile
