I’ve been waiting for this 🤘 I’ve been working on my build and this should prove very helpful I’m using Agony phasers currently with the wide angle dual beam from the disco rep and the Terran beam array, but what would you say are the best phasers currently in the game? Are the obliviating phasers worth using?
Best phasers for Pvp, Targeting-Linked in my opinion. If you have 4 of them on the ship, that's 20 accuracy.... all the time, not a "chance" for something. Obliviating phasers look interesting, but I don't have any yet so I can't really say. I've found the exact type isn't really all that important, the reason Phasers and Disruptors are so popular is that they have the best sets, not because the individual weapons are better than any other type.
Why pseudo considering most run pilot team? Also, why no borg cooldown doffs on most of your youtube builds? Also, why protomatters when only one proc source (with overload there can be 2 if running SV)? Ty for your time, sorry for all the questions.
Keep in mind this build video from March 2023, right after the ship came out and nearly two years out of date. At this time, most dogfighters were beam overload +csv using colony consoles, unconventional systems wasn't used except on science vessels, and pilot team did not give placate immunity. A more modern build would look different - check the other Hydra build video I posted from September 2023 and you can see just how much has changed since this. Then keep in mind Isomags have come out during that time, along with several other consoles and changes. I have a more current build posted on discord, and that's where I'd go to get the absolute cutting edge latest builds - for example, now with temporal stasis, you are basically forced to run Command primary spec and/or improved polarize hull, but I have no done a video to explain these updates. You can also reverse engineer builds I used in premade matches as those are usually pretty up to date for the time I post the video at least. It's a lot less effort to post a video of a match than it is to make a build/explanation video for me... Cheers and no problem ask as many questions as you like.
Hi, in combat, Rhythmic Rumble provides resistances based on speed (200-300 drr), and I get another 70 drr against critical hits from miracle worker spec, 30 drr from miracle worker spec when using aux2sif heal, the ~30 drr from aux2sif itself, 12.5 bonus drr from the dyson rep trait - in combat, very rarely if ever am I below 70-75% resistances (unless subnuked, which is why I try to clear that and re-buff quickly)
@@bretsgamingchannel Thanks for the breakdown. But I think something else is missing. What about at the 2:00 minute mark of this video, where you are not moving, havent used aux2sif, and not in combat. To get 43% resistance, you would need about 80 armor rating. The only passive armor I would expect is the 12.5 bonus from the dyson rep and maybe a bit from the skilltree. I dont see any armor consoles either.
@@hyprodimus I'm not sure, I went to an alt character of mine with an empty skill tree and no gear equipped and I'm still at 32%. On the char in this video, I have all 3 points in hull plating and the dyson bonus drr trait, and I also have maxed endeavors in the 3 resistance categories (+25 to each). Endeavors alone don't make up enough for 32% though, so I'm not sure where that other ~25-30 DRR is coming from.
I'm curious - If the Hill Image Refractors Temp hull gets removed so easily now, why are people continuing to use it? Is there something I'm missing because it never feels as though anyone is even out healing singular damage sources.
I mainly use it for insulation against -drr debuffs. Temp HP doesn't benefit from resistances, but it also doesn't get affected by resistance debuffs either, so if you can keep it rolling it's useful against that kind of stuff. I don't always keep it at 100% but very rarely do I not have *some* temphp in combat on any build with colony consoles.
What do you think of any of the 10th anniversary legendary ships for PvP? I am also using Oblivating phasers except they only Proc once per target (tested) so they are not worth it
Hey, the legendary defiant is decent but pretty much the same as the Khaeill/Quitu but with extra hull cap in trade for no experimental weapon. I have a build and match video for this ship. Legendary Intrepid is a good ship and can do double duty as a healer or an embassy console hullrep zombie, plus the ablative console it has is the highest bonus drr in the game with 900 (basically 98% resistance for 15 seconds), restricted to that ship though. Ross class is a usable healer or even beam overload ship. I have a build and match video showing it set up for beam overload. Temporal Connie could be cool but more importantly it gets you the PLOT Armor trait account wide which is extremely good, especially for healers, sci builds, and others. 250 resist and a big heal over 15 seconds with only 30 seconds of downtime. Temporal NX sucks but it does come with the preferential targeting trait which is great for beam overload or rapid fire ships. Lots of good stuff in the bundle and well worth the buy IMO. Anyone who has that bundle can participate decently well in PvP even if they don't own any other ships, lots of options (still need rep and fleet gear of course). I would only buy the base bundle not the fancy one. The other extras don't seem worth it to me.
@@bretsgamingchannel Lets not forget the Legendary sovereign miracle worker assault cruiser which has some good seating for a beam overload build, only one intel ship, the Kelven timeline legendary... PvP is big on Intel and science toons these days because sub nuc... I made a Tac woops lol
@@exoticspeedefy7916 The Legendary Sovereign has a major problem and that's too much tactical seating. The Legendary Excelsior is a downright better ship at the same type of build, sadly. The Kelvin Legendary is really good of course, although I wish it had a little bit more hull cap - it's basically just a 5/3 Eclipse. Tactical is still good, damage will always have a place. Sci is just a bit better for stripping buffs and the defensive stuff like co-opt and scattering field.
Hey, I pretty much exclusively use the 3-piece competitive engines/warp core/shield combo for the bonus damage resistance it applies. It really helps me survive against very high energy spike damage delivered by player ships. On this build, I'm using a colony deflector to maximize my criticals. However I'd swap to the Jem'Hadar or Romulan deflector for more perception if I needed it. Another alternative is to use the same deflectors I mentioned, competitive engines are a must have, but then the discovery core and shield. The 2-piece discovery set gives you 120% hull regen, so you aren't resisting incoming damage but you are replenishing your HP more rapidly. That's also what I would run instead for PvE where you don't really have to worry much about energy damage because NPC's deal more kinetic damage.
@Bret's Gaming Channel yeah I'm not sure what the competitive 3 piece is called haha. Thanks for both detailed replies. I appreciate the effort for sure. I also joined your discord and will probably ask a ton of annoying questions.
@@clidefrog2 No problem! I'll answer whatever I can. the competitive 3-piece comes from the competitive reputation. Not sure when you last played but you're probably familiar with the maco set from omega reputation since that has been around forever, same kind of thing.
Arenas pop on the weekends but only rarely is there more than one going on at once. Ker’rat on the other hand is busy most of the day sometimes 20+ people. The problem is there is a sizable chunk of the pvp community who are unwilling to play in the public queues and only do small matches amongst themselves or show up in Ker’rat and leave as soon as they are afraid of getting killed. So while the community is still sizable, it’s heavily fractured, and there is no more casual pvp like there used to be - it’s all pretty high end.
