I'm surprised to see a video using one of my old GBC mods! I'm the guy formerly behind ChopsWare. I apologize for not kicking the shop around anymore- life just got too hectic for me and I had to shut it down. The frontlight on your GBC looks a bit dimmer than I remember, so I recommend checking the solder point for the positive point on the backside. If there isn't one, I recommend soldering a 100 ohm resistor to the end of the positive wire, then soldering the other end back to the solder point on the GBC. That'll help give you a consistent brightness regardless of what the battery life is at.
GBC purple clear case was the best, (i have one as well , haven't used in years). I ve seen people do the same case "mod" for switch joycons which is interesting...
So the Gameboy Everdrive cartridge will hold GBC and GBA games as well , correct? And the Pokémon games with clocks will still work on the x5 right? We just won’t be able to edit the time outside of the game..?
The time will not pass, with rtc if you set the time to 8am and the turn off the game boy, the time will continue to pass, in x5 it will be forever 8am
the time thing is not realy an issue because you can set the time new when launching pkmn silver, crystal or gold so while it is a bit annoying i dont think that its worth the amount of extra money that it costs and savestates are always a thing i like to skip on using anyway so while it is good to have in some games normal saving works 99% of the time as it is also the originaly intended way for these games to work
ASG 101 is too expensive given that you can just drop in an IPS screen mod in an AGS 001. 80$ for the 001 and 60$ for the screen. Especially how the AGS 101 sells now for 180-240
This is very true. It's amazing how much the aftermarket scene for the GameBoy family exploded. The IPS screens weren't in existence at the time I recorded this so that's kind of crazy to think about.
@@thechemist1049pretty sure they had IPs screens. That’s what he’s talking about. There’s a difference between AGS 001 with no backlit screen and the AGS101 is backlit ips from Nintendo
I don't understand very well how the real time clock works, if you set for example DAY 10:00 for the rest of the game time does not flow and will always be the DAY 10:00?
Nihil - yeah if you get the model I have there’s no support for RTC. So it will stay that time for the rest of the game. So, as an example, in Pokémon gold, if you want Espeon at some point you would need to set the time at the beginning of the game to make sure when Eevee evolves its into Espeon and not umbreon. Or if a Pokémon you want to catch in the wild only appears at night (like gastly) you’ll need the game to be at night. It really hinders Pokémon games if you play them.

I'm inexperienced and don't know if it is possible, but maybe we can transfer the data saving on the computer and put it in an emulator just to evolve into Umbreon (using your example). So, this brings us to the following question, can we able to see (then copy and paste) the save data on the computer?
Nihil - the computer is a good idea. If you can open the savestate with another emulator and save the game at a different time and reload it in your cart that would be a workaround.

I formatted a 64GB card with no issues. Nowadays 64gb card is cheaper then a 32gb card. What a strange world we live in.
