Excellent killer stuff Sorin. You also have excellent taste in music. Keep finding those treasures. Thumbs up to all the young guys and gals who are into collecting vinyl. Peace to Everyone.
Great video. Sealed Some Girls! That ZZ album is fantastic! Love that Tower of Power. Glass Harp is killer, bummer about the skip. I own that Bang album as well. Sweet haul! If you like Lynyrd Skynyrd, I posted a deep dive video on them yesterday. Cheers
Always good to see your videos dude! Cool stuff man. That toots is an essential reggae record. You should check out the song sit right down by toots. My favorite reggae song ever. And it was only released on the UK/Jamaican copy of Funky Kingston. Definitely should have been put on the US.
Great pick-ups. That "Some Girls" album is very collectable as it features Lucille Ball on the cover. She sued Rolling Stones for using her image without her permission so they had to change the cover. Later pressings have blank faces on the cover. "Sparkling in the Sand" is a very long song and is an Old School classic. It's wonderful to know there are young fans of Tower of Power and Afro beat out there. Enjoyed watching.
I've found a handful of copies of Some Girls with all of the faces, usually priced pretty high, but a couple good deals. I got my playing copy for $2.50! I love Tower of Power and all of that old funk stuff! Thanks for watching ✌☮
Great stuff as always Sorin. I really need that Glass Harp LP, have their 2nd. Also need Demian and very much regret not buying a copy when it was in front of me about 10 years ago. Bang is another I'm still missing, along with their other. I rate the first 3 Chicago lps...cheap heat! Cheers Nige
Try the first Blood Sweat and Tears from where Chicago stands. Al Koopers invention was the first big band explosion after the Electric Flag started it all. Some good finds.
Love both the First BS&T and the Electric Flag, but my god these Chicago albums rip! Terry Kath is one of my guitar heroes! Chicago Transit Authority is my favorite album by them, and its just great. Thanks for watching ✌☮
Hi 👋 cool records. I love Toots & the Maytals. I have a jazz / reggae mix record by Tommy Mc Cook titled Blazing Horns / Tenor in Roots. He plays the saxophone it works well. I agree with you about Chicago , their early music recordings are the best. They used alot of brass instruments. By the late 1970s they had become a tad boring though.
Ooooh, another Sabbath or Sabbath-ish type band. A great find! And I see they do have some other albums: Death of a Country, The Lost Singles (only a couple good ones), The Maze, and, Mother / Bow To The King. There might be a couple of other more recent albums too. Awesome to find out about them being a fan of the Sabbath type downtuned metal bands, Candlemass, etc... What fun!
Have you listened to Bang yet? I'd love to know what you think. I have some more Sabbath type music coming next video 😀. I love proto-metal type bands. Thanks for watching ✌☮
@@sorinvinyl1523 I've been getting to know Bang lately. My favorite album of theirs is The Maze (2004). My second favorite is their 1972 debut album. I always love that heavy downtuned sound!
Definitely not! I have a really clean original already. If it were an obscure psych record, I would for sure! (And have before). Thanks for watching ✌☮
My local Mt. antique mall gouges hard regardless of condition or artist/title! Nice score. I picked up a sweet copy of Johnny Cash Train Songs on Sun Records. Johnny would have been a star regardless of when he came. Been looking for Headhunters. An MGM 2 lp of Hank Williams. One of my favs to to look out for-The Roots of Psychedelic Chica!-killer s. American psych rock guitar! Toots is one of The Best-I’ve got the Reggae Greats which sounds like the same track list.
Most of the antique stores I visit have one or two booths with super overpriced albums. I love Johnny Cash, nice pickup! I'll look out for the Psychedelic records, I'm not familiar. Toots is amazing! Thanks for watching ✌☮
Stones! ZZ! Ramones! The great funk of Tower of Power! I found a nice OG of that Herbie Hancock LP a few years back at a thrift shop Minty fresh too! Thats a solid pick up! Cool Reggae stuff too! That Glass Harp you showed is a solid LP Phil Keaggy is a legendary Christian Rock artist! I remember hearing about him as a kid and I think he actually performed at our church waaayy back when! He was far beyond his psych stuff tho by that time! I just showed that Baroque’s LP on my last video and I love it! I explain why in the video LoL! I picked up a sub par condition Bang album a couple years ago It has some surface noise but I was happy to grab it for a 20 spot! Wish the cover was a gatefold so you can see the full effect of the outer cover. I also have an OG copy of the Mother/Bow to the King LP that I was lucky to pick up before the price went way up. Bubble Puppy & Demian are both awesome! This was a fun watch! Peace ✌️👽
Phil Keaggy is a great guitar player! Super cool that he performed at your church! I habe definitely reevaluated the Baroques lp. I save it for late nights! Bang's self title is never clean haha. Probably partied with! Thanks for watching ✌☮
Some Girls was my first Rolling Stones album and still my favourite by them. It cool to find one still sealed but I hope you listen to the album too. It's too good to miss. Hooker and Heat is on my want list too. Never ever see it here in Wales. I've got Otis Blue but re issued with a different cover and title. They used to do that back in the day...don't know why. Glass Harp sound interesting. I've not heard of them before but they sound good on Discogs.
Oh I love Some Girls! I have a really clean uncensored copy already, so probably going to let this sealed copy go. I can imagine there isnt too much Canned Heat in Wales haha. Glass Harp is a great record! I highly reccomend! Thanks for watching ✌☮
Hittin' the ol' hard/heavy rock a bit! I bought Bang's debut 45 when it came out. Not sure if it was a hit, but it certainly got a lot of airplay at the time. Not too sure if I've still got it though. I'd have to check. Demian seem to be getting mentioned a lot lately, as another channel I follow also just picked up a copy. I do have the first 3 Bubble Puppy 45's in pretty nice shape, and their album on a later pressing.
Love that stuff! Would the Bang 45 be Questions? A great track! I know Psychederick just found a copy of Demian as well. I've got Hot Smoke n Sassafras 45 and an original copy of the lp! Great stuff! Thanks for watching ✌☮
@@sorinvinyl1523 Yep..., it was the "Questions" 45, but I seem to remember the b-side more "Future Shock" for some reason. I think it was for the Sabbath vibe. Yeah, Psychederek was the channel I was referring to. He usually posts interesting stuff.
I know being much older and collecting for 50 years there is v. little (of our similar tastes) that I havent seen, got or had but it is soooo good to see someone thrilled with Hooker n Heat (had mine forever...) it is blues heaven esp disc 2! Best recent finds ...a bit UK centric...Sun Treader Zin-Zin (35 yrs on my wants list!) and US centric...obviously far harder to find here....High Treason s/t (again 30 yrs plus on WL). Keep up the great posts!
As I've been following your channel, I noticed that you have a sense for finding good deals regarding records. I'm just curious where your collection stands currently in terms of numbers...
I dig for records a lot, and a lot of the time, I will not pay full value for a record. I have 872 records according to discogs haha. Thanks for watching ✌☮
The Baroques record is incredible. It was released the same day as “Sgt. Pepper.” It didn’t sell well because it was on Chess. They didn’t know how to market it.
I was definitely in the wrong mood when I listened, because its right up my alley. Didn' know it came out the same day as srgnt pepper. Yeah its weird for a psych record to be on the Chess label, I could imagine they had no idea what to do with it. Thanks for watching ✌☮
I want to find a nice copy of Hooker N Heat. I’ve never listened to a ZZ Top album. Rocket To Russia is probably the best starting point for Ramones. Headhunters is a great record. I was lucky to see Herbie Hancock 3 times in the early 70s. The Baroques is a album that I really like. I got the RSD version because originals are over priced. Demian is another one I would like but don’t want to pay up for it.
Every time I see Hooker N Heat its in bad shape or overpriced. I'm glad I found that copy of Rocket to Russia, I'm definitely looking out for more Ramones. I could imagine that Herbie was incredible live. After re-evaluating the Baroques LP, I actually like it a lot. Demian is an amazing record. ✌☮
I'd pick the Better End Soon suite on side 4. Amazing playing there. I prefer the first Chicago Transit Authority record. Poem 58 has some amazing playing on there! Lmk what you think!
