      I was a member of my local Pure Barre studio for about half a year. Not sure how similar Pure Barre is to the Peloton barre classes. In any case, what made me initially love the barre-style workout, is how FUN it is. All motions are in time to high-energy music, and you use resistance bands + small weights to really push your muscles to exhaustion. It's absolutely a full-body workout that flies by (unlike yoga, which I find incredibly dull), and it always left me collapsed on my mat at the end, feeling GREAT. I particularly like the way my legs felt afterward; the Pure Barre exercises involve a lot of squatting and chair motions, especially on your tiptoes, which just makes your legs feel long and strong. I ended up gaining noticeable muscle in my shoulders and legs. Ultimately though, I left Pure Barre because I wanted to save some cash, and also because I thought the workouts spent too much time on the butt muscles (and not quite enough on the chest). Oh, and I felt super weird being the only guy in my studio.

    Thanks very much for both these tips and the bike tips, just found your channel. Our bike is on its way. Your note about being 40+ and the "niggly bits" was great. Being 50+ I have that too and I was specifically hoping these classes would help. Your comment about the quality of the coaching has me quite excited to no longer having those niggly aches and pains due to better fitness.
    PS Maybe they should use the old set with a Saturday Night Live/ Disco soundtrack!

    peloton is amazing, I use the running, cycling and strength workouts, and for $12.99, it's an absolute steal. If you're doing 4 workouts a week, which is about where I am at currently, it's less than a dollar per session, that's an insane value. Looking to branch into their pilates and boxing sessions eventually.

    Great video! I began doing Peloton bike classes during Covid for cardio , but continued working with my long-time personal trainer -- at home, instead of the gym -- for strength training. But I'm starting to get "tight" like you and want to find a good way to shift over to doing everything myself at home to save money. Your video gives me the confidence to think using the Peloton app for strength training will be body effective as well as cost effective. Many thanks for doing this!

    How much is the monthly subscription? Think I missed this in the video. Would you recommend this over Apple Fitness+? As I have a Garmin Fenix 5 but everything else Apple, and really don’t want to get another device to work out, but Garmin don’t do their own service like these (that would be awesome). Find the Apple Watch a tad gimmicky and that Garmin products offer more in-depth stats and can be used for longer durations and for more extreme sports. So would you recommend this over the apple fitness classes?

    Another great vid. So my peloton bike plus came and I’m loving it. My question is in regards to the strength programs. Right now weights are crazy. A rack, bench, dumbbells and and plates could cost ya 3-4K here in Canada easy. Just wondering what you would suggest as “required” equipment for getting through the peloton strength programs. Thanks as always 😀

    • @SteveJulien
      @SteveJulien 3 года назад +1

      Prices are crazy for weights!
      Some of my hex Dumbbells are 4X the price I paid for them 12-18 months ago.
      Try MiraFit for good value ones.
      You won’t need a bench for strength, just a mat.
      The weights I use with the app are about 25% lighter than the ones I would use normally as they are very good at getting. aburn with less weight.
      You could also look at bands and bodyweight strength until they come down a bit.
      The good news is that good dumbbells will probably last longer than we will, haha!

    • @choocharoo
      @choocharoo 3 года назад +1

      @@SteveJulien thanks Steve. A set of 2.5-50 dumbbells (2 per) with rack is about 1100 here. A 5-90 adjustable set is about 999. Ive heard the adjustables can be flakey so a hexagon set is prolly the way I will go. I thought about resistance bands just wasn’t sure if the instructors used those or if it’s all just interchangeable. Thanks as always. Stay safe and keep that great content coming.
