Biriyani is a curry cooked with rice a meal in itself. (With saffron colouring) Whereas pilou rice is meat boiled in water & spices (the stock kept to cook the rice), The cooked meat is fried with onion & spices. Lastly, rice is added with the stock. It is drier than biriyani & is usually served with a curry or other dishes...
