Bit of a claw machine nerd here, but if I'm not mistaken some claw machines out there have this dreaded yellow box or whatever that determines the grip strength of the claw. I haven't encountered any seriously rigged claw machines, but sometimes they will have them set up so that the more you lose, the grip increases. It could be that you were there so long, putting so much money into it, that you hit the payout and the machine gave you it.
That is basically how the claw machines in Japanese arcades win. You typically will win the prize at around the price it would cost to just buy it, usually around $40-$60. And if you fail at the machine enough you can ask the staff for help and they'll open the machine and put the toy in a position that makes it all but guaranteed to get in a couple more attempts. They want you to win the stuff there so you keep coming back.
All claw machines are pretty much rigged. They're set to intentionally drop their payload early the majority of the time, and the claw itself is designed to _look_ flimsy (without actually being so) so that you have something to blame for the drop.
He probably could’ve gotten it for $14-15 minimum in Ali express. But shipping might bump it up to $18-20. As well as wait time, he probably lost 25 maximum instead of buying online. Now he gets to make a video that will help him recover it
The age old problem of "show the problem to someone else and it stops happening." I know this very well, I have a friend who does tech support for a living, I'll call him up on discord, explain a problem briefly, and ask him to watch so it stops happening. 75% success rate. 20% I'm met with "have you updated your drivers?" And the last 5% it's actually a problem.
I worked IT at a company and whenever the problem stopped around me, I just told the person that IT staff had a healing aura and that's why they hired us lol
Classic claw machine payout when you least expect it lol. There are some techniques to win earlier than the payout, like getting the heaviest part over the railing, but if you're just trying to get the machine to lift the prize altogether, then expect to spend a lot of money unless the machine was already close to paying out. Also for anyone who's traveling Japan and wants to try the claw machines, I recommend only playing machines that are 100 yen per play. The machines are rarely easier when they're more expensive, and you will almost always find the same prize in a different arcade with a cheaper/easier machine. Additionally, set a budget, be patient and be ready to fail. Japanese claw machines aren't designed to be won on the first attempt and instead require multiple plays to progressively get the prize closer to a win.
CdawgVa vs Alpharad in crane game world be so cool Imagine pairing it with most Sanrio/ jojo/ super sentai/ ect categories trying to get the most category wins or a random lockout lottery/ bingo Set a time or money limit and tactics are needed 🤔 (Probably too late to film/edit/publish it this year but it would be a cool video to drop around a certain mouse’s bday as a fun we’re sending you all this “be prepared “😂)
I spent $30/3000 yen getting Rowlet out of a claw machine when I was in Japan with my school. I probably could have gotten it put in two tries had I figured the technique I needed out earlier. Still worth it though. It was the most I spent on anything the entire trip and it was my parent's money, so no loss for me.
I am too stubborn to give up when I should, I spent $160 trying to get a Gojo figure. The worst part was I didn't even get it, and to make matters worse I was with some work friends and one of them spent $150 to finally get the figure. I still can't even look at a Round 1 without experiencing the PTSD I got from that night.
The claw machine games have a system where the claws grip strength varies from try to try, so if peaches head was too heavy for the claw to grab that means only one in however many tries actually has a chance of picking her up.
Did the exact same thing as a kid when I was a kid. Dropped $20, my entire budget, on trying to get a bat plush that was too heavy for the claw machine
I’m going to compare this to open cards in packs. Now most of the time it is smarter and cost effective to just buy the card itself, but theres the gambling feeling of victory when you actually pull it out instead of just doing that buying it that you can’t replace. It’s probably the same here. The sense of accomplishment for getting the plush out instead of buying it online is much better.
I was at a theme park back in October and I was trying to get something from a claw machine, however I unfortunately didn’t get anything other than a loss of money.
The plush itself? No not worth $40. You talking about said plush in a Short that people will watch over & over again as the revenue slowly climbs up. That is worth $40
Rookie numbers, I accidentally spent $100 with my parents card to play a digital claw game to win a togepi plush. (Thankfully they were very forgiving and understanding)
One time I used my friends arcade card and he swiped the card and told me to have a go at the claw machine, I ended up grabbing two of the dragons simultaneously and pulled both of them out at once in one try, he let me keep both but I wanted him to have one so I gave him one and kept the other
It happens to all of us. I spent $70 (I was 16 at the time and don't know where the money came from. Probably birthday cards) trying to win a Nintendo Switch. Everyone was watching.
One time I won a big Kirby plush of the Kirby's Dream Buffet variety on a local arcade. That plush now remains on my shelf as a trophy of sorts. Not long after I went to play Taiko no Tatsujin and picked a Touhou track specifically because some dumbass left the drums when playing Night of Nights One of the better days of the Japan trip ngl
Winning a claw machine is already a feat most cannot achieve.
REALL also Gintama pfp goes hard
I succeeded when I was like 6 or 7
I have won like 4 or 5 claw machines and before I even got to highschool, with each of them being on the 1st try
I beat a claw machine 1st try once, and the sense of euphoria I felt was pretty damn close to trying drugs (for legal reasons. this ones a joke)
I won 3 :)

Just sparked a 5* Peach from the showtime banner
I played a claw machine where the prize drop please was literally welded shut
I kid you not
I feel like you and Jaiden should compare notes on how to get over pulling for hyperfixation characters like chikowa
Was it worth $40? No. But were those $40 worth it? Absolutely
@OfficerXbox360 Didn't ask. If I were interested, I'd have subbed by now
@@OfficerXbox360yeah sure thing mr 2 subs 😂
Considering the revenue you're going to get from this short, I think it was definitely worth $40 lol
That might be the entire reason he made this short
A short like this probably wouldnt make much more than 10-15 dollars

Only 40? Those are rookie numbers, I spent 200 dollars on a claw machine trying to get a tiny plush of Eric Cartman.

Seconded. While I've not been to Japan I have a ton of experience winning prizes on their machines via Toreba before it went to shit a few years ago.
The story surely was worth it, the plush not so much

Peach is always worth it.
Should've teamed up with CDawg for his crane game videos, then at least you'd be wasting his money.
I love how he was acting so disappointed during the last attempt, just to end up winning anyways
I love the bit where you recoil in shock, hahaha! That's the best part in claw machines- the uncertainty of winning this scam-like game.
Jacob is the living embodiment of comedic irony.
He doesn’t know the hidden sumimasen technique
i’ve been so yakuzapilled i forgot the catchers just make that sound in real life
Yeah I remember watching the trailer of the game and I remember watching the begging transformations bosses and end.
The cameraman never wins so it can never die
The fact that you got it when the camera was turned onto the machine is too funny
See now you gotta do claw machine challenges with CDawgVA
Being a stream/vod watcher makes these videos feel like deja vu
Only $40? I thought you were going to say hundreds.
A true fan pays nearly any price.
Spending money on Princess Peach is always worth it.
As a tax write off? Of course it was worth $40.
I immediately got PTSD seeing Pink and Claw Machine together... I'll never do claw machines again
You have got it! But it was a very hollow victory that wasn't worth it.
it's more satisfying to win something than to just pay for it
Me and my brother used to record ourselves playing the machines cause we always won when doing so- it was our secret strat to get all the tokens
"I spent.. naaah.. more then i intended.." I can relate to this more then i like 😂
The reverse of camera luck. Alpharad only performs when the cameras are on
Claw machine knew alpharads audience and wanted to make him look silly 😂
Yes. Anything for the princess.
tbh if i couldn't get one online, $40 is definitely in my plushie budget
Those japanese claw machine voices will haunt me for the rest of my days
Fans of the Yakuza series: "first time?"
The satisfaction of getting it is worth the price, the item in question? *No.*
He was so surprised by the claw actually working, it looked like an explosion went off.

Claw machines are a scam in themselves, the one time I got close to winning a prize it’s tag got stuck on top of the prize hatch
Did the exact same thing as a kid when I was a kid. Dropped $20, my entire budget, on trying to get a bat plush that was too heavy for the claw machine
“Was this worth $40?” No. But the video and your reaction, priceless.

Bro was shaking his head thinking it wasn't gonna work out
Well the plus was absolutely not worth that much but the joy of beating a rigged claw is
Not the fake head shaking for the video to show disappointment 😭🤣
Claw machine is camera shy fr
The fucking claw sounds gave me Yakuza flashbacks
Ah yes, the good ol tax write-off excuse
Going for that business expense write-off XD
Yes the taste of victory no matter how much dent in your wallet
This reminds me of a blue yoshi I got after spending $80 dollars worth of arcade points on a claw machine. I named him Blackjack, and he was worth it.
Bro had the fake loss reaction already down. Imagine having your take ruined by success. Straight up Smant logic.
listen man after the Miku car I'm glad you only spent 40 bucks chasing a whim
“Quick record this so I can make it a tax write-off”
No, but you had a good time trying to get it and got a fun story out of it. And that folks, is priceless.
I loved the kids happily clapping the moment you won

The claw machines are already set to only “work” after X amount of uses.
They literally won’t grab hard enough until then.
Can’t believe Jacob is sweating grinding Blame It On the Crane
GiGO has higher prices than all the other arcades I have been to (excluding the one US arcade I have been to). I would not recommend it.
He is playing that Mario party mini game irl
The Claw Machine must've let you win to dodge allegations of scamming you. XD
look at that silly little plush. yea I think that’s totally worth 40 bucks.
Honestly you got a great story and a plushie…maybe this one can slide.
Jacob forgot that Japanese crane machines actually let's you win after enough tries
Lady Luck really let him win, but on her own terms.
I was at a theme park back in October and I was trying to get something from a claw machine, however I unfortunately didn’t get anything other than a loss of money.
The $40 isnt just for the plush, its for the thrill of the hunt
It wasn’t the head. The claw machine manual says something like this “if you want to put this claw machine in an arcade, don’t max the claw strength”
Jacobs luck being Jacobs luck once again
The toy itself wasn't but hearing the little kid cheering that you won definitely was
Okay but when are you gonna go head to head vs Conner in a crane game challenge video?
