  • Busy busy beez! Four little busy beez :P
I must say it was an very exciting and interesting session with the 4 little bundles of energy, never sitting still. But I still had a lot of fun with Andri and her family on Hartenbos beach, South Africa.
PS: I am not a videographer and this is not an official Video (no payment was received for this service) this was just some fun behind the scene clips put together by me to remember the session :)

Hey Adele,Loved your video. I just had one question ,at the beginning of the video when you have the family standing , you are shooting right into the sun. How did you manage to block the sun? And what were your settings if you dont mind me asking. Thank you. Looking forward to seeing more videos....

Hi there, thank you for the comment.
I do all my sessions with the sun behind my subjects, the reason for this is so they don't have to look into the sun and squint. I also feel it creates unflattering shadows on their face if they face the sun. And lets face it, its no fun looking into the sun, specially for kids.
So I put them semi in front of the sun form me, with the sun slightly to the left or right of them. With my lens hood it blocks some of the lens flares. If the sun is directly behind them I will try and hide in their (people or dune) shadow if that makes sense. I also expose for my subject not the background. Its nice and light since its during Golden hour so the sun is nice and soft.
      Settings:
So every photo is a bit different since we move around and the sun is setting so it constantly changes, but in general I always have an F-stop of 3.2 (works best for me).
My ISO at the beginning was 320, ended with ISO of 640 and shutter speed changes as we move around and as sun set :)
