I just turned 38 and am in the same boat you were. Came across your “Fitness Over 35” video a few months back, and decided to take your tips to heart. Thanks for the inspiration and for your no-bs videos. Cheers to the next 38 years!
Great tips! Thanks for sharing. 41, just trying to get into crossfit after many years of weight lifting. Looking for something that challenges my muscles in a different way and faster pace each session.
I just got back into Crossfit, I love that you put out these videos! It helps me stay the course not being what I once was, but knowing it's about falling in love with the sport! I remember when I was in my early 20's trying to figure this and other things out, that needing to do what's right for your body is all the difference! I'd love to see more trianing voice over montoages! Those are always motivational. Thanks Jason!
I feel the same way about looking foolish at crossfit or going to the gym. I can't get over the mindset of looking foolish when I work out. This is what's stopping me from going back to crossfit.
@@JasonGrubb absolutely just started doing what I can with WODs at home nothing big small weights. just working on doing small things and building endurance and learning the CrossFit lingo. Thanks for the reply.
Hey Jason, Thanks for your tips mate. I’m a master also in the 40-45 & just made my Quarterfinals debut… my life has turned completely around for the better since walking into CrossFit Wollongong Australia early 2023. & looking forward towards the future!!! Looking forward to more tips from you also Jason as I just subscribed!!! Good luck in the Quarterfinals mate!!! Kind regards Jay 💪🏼🏋🏽♀️🙌🏼😎
Been in the same boat for many years - 3-4 IPA’s, running 4-5 times each week, broken and inconsistent diet. Going to start some CrossFit soon too. Good to see someone else with the same path. Thanks for the solid content!
You are such an inspiring Human being with the greatest personality. Thank You for sharing. I’m looking so much forward to watch You stand on top of the podium again at the CrossFit Games 💪🏼🙌🏼
I’m 48 I’m ex UK Forces, I stopped all fitness when I retired from the military 6 years ago. I’ve now just started and joined a CrossFit gym for the first time ever, done my first class today and loved it, what a buzz I got from it, did I find it hard your you’ve got that right I blowning out of every orifice you could think off. But I stuck at it not got a clue about nutrition and what I should or shouldn’t eat the good thing is I don’t drink alcohol any advice is much appreciated from anyone
Hey Robert!! Just be sure to stay slow and consistent! Injury or overtraining is your enemy. And it's definitely time for some nutrition upgrades. You could work with me for a month or two if you want... it's not hard!! www.jasongrubb.com/nutrition-coaching
Really enjoy your videos. Good luck with the Games. Im a bigger guys and I Crossfit. Is there a running program you would recommend? One that incorpates Crossfit and running. Thanks again!
Now we know what personality type it takes to be a crossfit champ. An addict. Seriously, thanks for the great videos. Very helpful. Do you have a video on your diet?
Jason, I’m 73 and was a competitive powerlifter for over 50 years. All the heavy squat reps help lead to two artificial hips and two artificial knees. I wish that CrossFit was around in my early 20’s. I still lift and weight train religiously. My question is: am I too old for CrossFit? Will my machinery keep me from doing CrossFit? Do you know anyone like me that CrossFits with you? Much of my training consists of machines, Cybex, Cable machines etc…thanks in advance for any advice.
Brother... nothing wrong with machines as long as you're moving! CrossFit may or may not be good for you. You want to find an absolutely awesome coach that can get to know you, your background, and your history (with your hips and knees). You want to be able to do functional complex movements forever... and CF can help with that - but only with the right coach. You don't need to be doing firebreather workouts over your capacity.
i have watched this video a few times over the years but today it rly was fitting for me. u just described my day esp with the cereal & pizza!!! how hard was it to break tht sugar cereal in the morning? I am training for the NJ Qualifier & Senior Olympics next August!!! i need to build muscle with agility & speed. but most importantly i need to be held accountable. Jason can u help???? Do u have any programs tht could help me??
I qualified for QF’s the past two years in my 3rd year of CF. But I feel so far away from even a semifinal athlete (29 years old) what needs to change to get there?
Good Morning Jason I was just looking up some CrossFit videos when I came across this video and noticed that we meet last week in Wellington. I wasn’t sure if was you. We spoke briefly.

You're welcome!!
I stopped watching sailboat videos on RUclips and started watching Jason Grubb. Thank you sir! Listened to this on my way to the CF gym
Rock on!
Your 5th point is so good and so applicable to so much in life! 👏👏👏
Agree!
I feel the same way about looking foolish at crossfit or going to the gym. I can't get over the mindset of looking foolish when I work out. This is what's stopping me from going back to crossfit.
I totally get that!! What if there was an option to workout in your garage first? Build up a base of fitness and knowledge, then go to a gym?

Thanks Tim!!! As far as a program combining CF and Running... you're probably going to want something custom. We could talk about that.

I mean... that's probably true.
Jason, what’s an IPA? Great motivational video!
IPA (it's a flavor of bear India Pale Ale)

For me the IPAs are hard to kick. I’ve managed to minimise biscuits and crisps, but ipas and the occasional cigarette is the next to work on.
