i would advise a full bead of sealant. Yeah its not sealing the pond, but rain getting in between glass and block will rot the timber that is "supporting the glass. If it freezes and then expands ?

Thanks for your thoughts, we aren't going to change the way we install them though!

Nice build. Question: how do you secure the liner to the top of the wall? DO you use anything to protect the edge on top where the liner is folding over to prevent it from rubbing and eventually ripping due to the rough edge of the concrete block? Thank you for sharing.

Liner is held in place firstpy by water, then once full copings are laid ontop to hold it down

What sealant did you use to connect the liner to the window?

Recently had this method fail on me, for the record "I'm not blaming the sealant" the MS300 bonded perfectly to the glass but after 3 months the liner simply peeled away from the sealant. Personally I'm still on the fence with this surface mount install method. I have now re-done the whole seal BUT this time roughed up the EPDM liner with sandpaper and cleaned everything down with acetone. Fingers crossed this gets me off fence 🤞

We've always created a recess in the walls, fixed the liner to the wall then fixed the window onto the liner then a thick bead around the edges on the inside and outside, never had a leak

Any reason you guys use liners instead of fibreglass? Liners are a right pain to seal properly and they always look abit tat

Why don't you get boxed welded liners for square or rectangle ponds, so much neater without all the folds that collect debris and its a pain to clean?

Hi, Can you give me a price for a pond window 1300 x 600

  • @KennyEvansUK

No idea why you would put timber in there when you can rebate the blockwork in a fraction of the time at no extra cost and not have the window fall out in 18 months time once its sodden and no longer structurally sound. High oxygen content water rots wood out super fast too. Id also be wary of using PIR in a fish environment, the glue used is definitely toxic to humans. If the liner leaked you wouldnt necessarily know in a concrete pond but chemicals could swim around from behind the liner and the fish could be insidiously poisoned.
