IE has made a good point regarding this video. Thankfully, the restrictions are sort of petering out as of recent years, but it won’t be until at least (and I personally believe) the 2040s that device usage on planes is even remotely safe and viable. That said, I’m glad we still prioritize safety over everything else when it comes to planes, even if people do occasionally need to be told not to overdose on a medication that does taste good.

Modern airplanes all have pico-cells installed so cellphones do not interfere with navigation equipment. Trust me, the only reason they still do this is because there are people who don't want some annoying co-passenger bleating on the phone for several hours straight during flight.

Will our little world fall apart if we turn off our phones for a couple of hours ?

Explain why some companies provide Wi-Fi onboard planes then. 🤔

So the in-flight wifi system works under various restrictions imposed upon by internationals organizations like NAA and NCC and also the main cause is that your phone is not optimized for stable communications like an aeroplane has (ATG and SATCOMs are the two most important protocols they maintain for device synchronization and near transmission disturbances the devices cause.)

Many companies can do this , and some planes have better tech than others.
But a WI-FI can be isolated much easier especially if the primary source can be controlled by the crew

Can I use my device as a remote control to take the plane wherever I want?

They tell you that because sometimes it can but most of the time it don't mess with the instruments. It's a just in case thing

It can't. Modern airplanes all have pico-cells installed, technology that prevents interference with navigation and communication equipment of the cockpit. Like I said in another comment, the only reason they still tell you to turn off your phone is because some passengers get annoyed by co-passengers yapping about on their phone for hours on end. It's to maintain the peace aboard and I think it's a good rule.

If it messed with the airplane system that we need some new systems. A $200 phone messing with a multi-million dollar plane😂

Can't they improve the instrumentation then..?
Because these seem to be not safe if these may be prone to jamming or disruption...

Did you even watch the video? They are improving them, but electronics are also improving and changing with time.
