    I’m guilty of creating a rough but tight schedule of my days in my head, and sharing them with no one. Then I get very aggravated when anyone tries to throw a wrench in my schedule as if they should have known what I had planned.
    I know it’s crazy but it’s how my brain works. I can’t be bothered to share my plans everyday because I don’t have time in my plans for that. 🤷‍♂️

    "Rest is a reward" thing may sound harsh, but I think after you decide to start doing it you'll get used to it faster than you expect and after that you'll feel better and more accomplished than before, it's just hard to start.. at least it is foor me xD

    I really needed this video. Thank you. I used to infuriate an ex at times by becoming so grounded in the present moment I'd be able to use precise bursts of serendipity. She'd ask me how I knew things would work then get upset when I'd say "I didn't. I just felt like doing it that way." I suspect what I do is closer to next level sensory logic, but since neither can be verified(?).

    Something that I've recently done is to approach studying like its bodybuilding. If I plan a 10 hour study day, I cant physically study non stop during that time just like you cant physically lift an optimal weight routine non stop. You have to do a couple sets of so many reps. So I'll start the day studying the hardest subjects (econ/math) and take a break after a few hours. As the day goes on, I progressively lighten the load (german/gen eds) and take small breaks between smaller and smaller set periods.

    All this “social distancing”, with nothing to do has made me nearly ignore time passing. Trying to keep a schedule now is like pulling teeth a year later, and building a new routine is definitely on the “to-do” list once I find a pen, and then I will have a pen.

    So.... are you a life coach? Asking because I feel like you'd be really good at it. I've struggled with this whole...can't get EVERYTHING done today that I want to do; but I don't want to schedule my WHOLE day, either. I want a workable schedule; but I don't want to feel too mechanical about it.
    You seem to have a good grasp on finding the fine balance for these intentions.
    I schedule time to relax. Have learned that FLOATING in a deprivation chamber REALLY helps.

      Thanks! I am up to things! Also it’s taken me awhile to get comfortable talking in front of a camera and doing RUclips. The reason for a time one budget is to tell time where to go rather than wondering where it went

  • @MauriceLeviejr
    @MauriceLeviejr 5 лет назад +1

    No, don’t start with goals. Start with time: pay yourself first. Grab outlook calendar, print the entire week, day starts at 00:00 and ends at 23:59. Put your development down first, then Paint your schedule including commute, shopping. Otherwise the daily minutiae overwhelms. All your time slots are 20 or 30 minutes, tell your friends taxis Uber buses and trains exist (no mooches).
    Pay for a Gym- why? Walk briskly with two weights is free. Pack mace/a blade /or a CCW and a cell phone if you feel afraid.
    Huge time management bonus: Your TV - take it outside and put a sign on it that says “FREE”. Boom, just saved you years of your life.

    • @InternetLiJo
      @InternetLiJo  5 лет назад

      Yeah I have never owned a TV lol. Nor do I really do things for entertainment value in general, it’s just not important or support my goals... which I will always put first. Any self development needed to reach those goals will be factored in as a part of the process. Efficiency is key.

      L J don’t start with recurring tasks, start by looking at your time (Franklin Covey full size paper planner), plug in your sleep, feeding times (we treat our pets better than we treat ourselves). Know your daily rhythm but never plan in less than 20-30 minute increments. My Monday schedule is crazy so I don’t schedule anything but my Thursdays are always mine. As a woman you have a 23-35 day rhythm / cycle you have to work with not against, whereas dealing with a middle school schedule is almost always painful until early June

    I think that rest is something different perceived for Judging and Perceivers types. The Js has a methodical way of working. For the perceivers if we take the enough "rest" then we can work without problem ahead.

    • @AlchemistCH

      As more of INTP but with quite a bit of INTJ traits, I totally agree. Must be linked to INTP more open-minded worldview requiring some downtime to reprocess the big picture (and a bunch of derived ideas... but that needs a limiter or can become permanent daydreaming) by incorporating new data (as opposed to more overorganized types having tendency to push unfitting data out of the picture). Fun part is that this post-processing can be combined with some "bubble gum for brains" level entertainment to keep uninvolved sections of the brain from dying of boredom
      However my personal issue with too much planning lies in something more likely beyond regular INTP/INTJ difference. It's both a blessing and a curse (tuns or to be more of the later in real life, if your limiter is torn out by the education system) I call "sprinter-type mental performance". Basically, short-term performance way beyond long-term sustainable values (and doing something tedious that can't utilize the full potential often doesn't reduce the overspending, resulting just in inefficient waste of limited resource). Attempts to plan based on this peak performance (and I do have the INTJ instinct to optimize whatever in my reach) in long term tend to lead to burnout with performance dropping to almost zero and plans flying out of the window altogether. And brainpower is a bit less predictable limiting factor than time - but one thing is clear: the "just plan the time efficiently and do your best to keep up with plans, and as you get used to the workload it'll get easier" approach doesn't work for me, because it tends to chronically exceed long-term sustainability, which then escalates into disaster as performance starts to drop. (I have no trouble going over the limit in short-term to finish something urgent and important quickly, but systematically being tricked into this mode was the reason I quit my previous job after another massive burnout).
      In other words, if you have to spend to much effort just to keep your brain from blanking out in the middle of whatever thing you have scheduled, maybe you should cut the plans down before attempting to keep up with them gets you in even worse condition - take care of yourself in long-term first, only then optimize short-term efficiency.

      @@AlchemistCH Rest is a necessity not a option. It's good to understand how we accumulate energy and to work towards it and not against it.

    • @AlchemistCH
      @AlchemistCH 5 лет назад +1

      @@mirjetagjika The issue is that this sort of mental energy overspending and/or need for additional data processing falls in the same category as introversion and a pile of other INTP/INTJ special traits: the things the standardized extroverted society doesn't really understand and has even more trouble verifying and quantifying (as opposed to just slacking off or making up extra needs) - so it just chooses to pretend those are not real issues and keeps putting up demands that seem to work for enough people who have different limiting factors.
      In other words, it's difficult to manage some such things when everybody around you keeps claiming that you clearly can do more (even if it's already more than what they do - they'll immediately change the measurement criteria to sweep that under the rug), especially if you kind of can, but at too high long-term cost (and it's difficult to argue with extroverts, when your brain already needs a reboot - not that balancing between procrastination and burnout is easy without them pushing)

    • @t5396
      @t5396 5 лет назад +1

      @@AlchemistCH your writing is definitely more INTP than INTJ. INTJs wouldn't be as interested in explaining every detail as you have.
      Also, I hope you realize that INTJs and INTPs don't even share the same cognitive functions, despite the fact they have many seeming similarities.
      I'm an INTJ who only leans towards Judging just a hair, so I can understand how one might be confused about their type.

    Interesting approach to assessing how to divide your time. Something akin to figuring out what what your fixed expenses are versus what your variable expenses are. While living off the grid I used a similar approach for doing the work, dividing duties into outdoor projects and indoor projects. Indoor projects were done on rainy days and outdoor projects were done on sunny days. You did however go into your system in much greater detail so I hope you don’t mind if I study it to improve my own system. Thanks again for another great presentation.

      Maurice Levie while your suggestion is one application the time the sun rises and sets and what you feel hungry for may suffice as you say for a weekend excursion it would hardly cover all your needs for a 20 year period of time. If I misunderstood your comment please feel free to reiterate it with perhaps more clarity. I do thank you however for your response though as I appreciate all constructive feedback.

    Ok... I'd love input on this one. I use GTD to capture and track all my projects/tasks. It has worked super efficiently for about 15 years now, over various tools, jobs and needs. But time boxing... wow... I put anything on the calendar for the next day and I feel great about it. I wake up the next morning, and there is no f***ing way I will do anything on that calendar! But if I leave it all in Todoist, I will fish things out all day and crank out project based stuff. So... is this an INTJ thing others deal with, or just my personal manifestation of it? Basically, if I have self control over my time, I crank stuff out. But if my time is pre-determined (even by me!), I resist it. Thoughts?
