I don't think I've seen any content creator accurately describe how Encore works. You start off with 0 stacks, get a kill. If it was a precision kill you gain a stack, if it was a bodyshot you lose a stack. Then the game checks: do you have a stack of Encore? If you do not have a stack, you gain the stability buff. If you do have a stack, you gain the range buff which varies based on the number of stacks. Both buffs last for 7 seconds. You can refresh and repeat the process on each subsequent kill. You cannot buff both range and stability at the same time. Stability only kicks in when you lose your last range stack by getting a bodyshot kill, or if you get a kill and had no stacks to begin with. edit: apologies if the comment comes across pointed and terse, I was trying to avoid too many contractions and run-on sentences for clarity's sake only.

I've actually been stearing away from desperado on my messenger since I went flawless(for the first time ever) last week and got 2 adept messengers both with encore, one with desp, and other with KC. I figured the archetype is already extremely lethal so why not just make it easier to land the TTK
Kill clip and desperado really do different things on messenger. Kill clip improves ease of use and team shot potential. Desperado speeds up kills and makes clean up shots faster if you miss part of your burst
My favourite sleeper pulse is a Time-Worn Spire with a long zoom scope, high cal and Iron Grip (the stability one). Fourth perk is Under Pressure which doesn’t do me much good but the rest is ace; stability masterwork. The combination of super high stability (80 or so?) with 22 zoom means that I can challenge some really long angles with great comfort, and the fast and consistent flinch allows me to fight snipers with little worry. Highly recommend if you have one; unfortunately it’s super rare in the IB pool this season.
My time worn has long zoom, feeding frenzy, and iron grip with a stability masterwork and my god it feels weightless when I use it. With that roll it really is as simple as "click heads and win"
My zen moment desperado messenger took me flawless this weekend but honestly I think I prefer kill clip it seems more consistent and when you need those shots to hit hard kill clip does the job

Honestly i’ve really been enjoying Gridskipper with a couple different rolls since last season. The new sandbox has really been nice for it and other options to shine better. I honestly don’t know what’s best on it, but Heating Up and High Impact Reserves has felt really good. Most rolls on the gun are actually pretty useful, too, without too many instant-shard perks.

Low-key fun roll Arrowhead break (for recoil direction) high cal (yes it's generic so far) rapid hit (still generic I know) range masterwork (I feel it's still generic) now here's the kicker Elemental capacitor on an arc subclass and use adept Icarus Once rapid hit is at X5 your basically at around 90ish on all stats I don't know exact numbers so if anyone knows the maths let me know
I mean, if you aren’t going for Desperado, why not just use Legal Action II? Better max range than any Messenger could ever get, and it can roll Heating up/Frenzy as well.
As far as I'm aware encore doesn't stay up forever, both buffs from encore have the 7s timer on them, killing wind still probably the best choice for the slot
Yep. I got a max range roll with killing wind / frenzy about a week after putting together a Gemeni’s build when I saw you use it. I went from maining exclusively Titan to using almost only my Hunter for the past two weeks, and haven’t had this much fun for a LOONG time.
I absolutely do not agree that slugs need a nerf. Slugs are only getting a lot of attention because of the recent shotgun nerf. Most players are just migrating to a better option. IMO Slugs have been slept on since the beginning of the game. Now that more people are using them and finding success, "yeah that needs a nerf." Why? I already have to aim for the head to find any real mileage with this thing and most shotgun fights are messy in nature. I really don't want to see a nerf to slugs. They are good as they are right now and a nerf could ruin them.

You're correct on Elimination. Why does it need to exist during Trials? I think Elimination needs to be the same node as Trials and they just replace each other depending on day of the week OR just make Trials active the whole week and resets on Fridays. And on Iron Banner weeks, just replace Trials with Elimination.
Frenzy on Legal Action is really nice, you can just sit in the back keeping periodic and substantial damage going until your Frenzy procs, then you can just run in and shred.
My long range pulse for now is the Legal Action II. Got one with heating up and Rampage. Polygonal and stability mw are also perfect. The zoom still allows 45m 2taps.
These vids are entertaining. Been watching Cammycakes since early D1. Point being, he demonstrates the various benefits of the roll of any said weapon. However, with the time he has spent learning all aspects of the game, these vids could essentially be made with green and white weapons

Our other teammate kept saying “this kid is so bad”, “GET REZ”. All you said to us at the end of the game was “thanks for trying”, and I thanked you back.

I think the word you might be looking for there at the end is "consistency", perk combos meant to improve the consistency and feel of a weapon without needing something like a kill to get them going.
Rapid Hit with Sacred Provenance (and the ease with which stacks are granted on a 4-burst pulse) makes it a great mid-range dueling weapon in my experience.

With messenger, i think i prefer moving target to anything else in the first set of perks. Bonus aim assist that is literally always on is great and so is strafe speed on a lane-y weapon
personally not sold on Heating Up on any weapon, defs prefer to fix Recoil Direction via barrels/mods for consistency of control sake. The accuracy buff is sweet tho. Not to mention it diluting the perk pool for PvE perks, ickyyy.
Trust me, Heating Up is straight magic on automatic weapons. It burns the candle at both ends: the recoil direction helps the stability bost make a bigger difference, which in turn helps the accuracy boost make a bigger difference. Try it out on one if you haven't yet. I know I personally dismissed tunnel vision entirely until I felt how strong it was on my Scathelocke.

Elimination is probably still in the game mainly for the people who don't own beyond light (or witch queen in a few months) and still want to experience the mode that it's on trials the majority of time
If y'all want a roll that's THE most consistent y'all need to try chambered compensator, high cal, encore, and elemental capacitor. It's a laser beam and probably my favorite feeling pulse rifle in PVP.

First one I ever got was hammer forged, flared, rapid and kill clip with a stability masterwork. Works perfectly for me on controller and even if I don’t hit crits for one reason or the other I still have a good reload
Yo cam idk if you'll see this but i think i have a cracked loadout thats been really good for me playing agro. Ok so the build is retrofurtuists with qd swash with synthos, bottom tree striker and fb with eye of the storm, so the set up is running in with ur shotty, synto Melee lungeing and getting swash and frontal assault then if theirs more people ii shotty more but if i get into a gum fight the increased stability from frontal+damage+ eye giving stability also makes it an almost instant win, rinse and repeat for 40 kills
Wouldn't a Legal Action with surplus+frenzy be a similar if not more interesting alternative for having a pulse be "assembled contrastingly"? Its high zoom gives plenty of additional range after all that can reach 49meters with no perks active, just range stat boosts.

If you hit your headshots desperado is the best hands down. If your headshot ratio is bad then go killclip
Desperado is far better at taking down multiple opponents or fixing missed shots

Yo cam idk if you'll see this but i think i have a cracked loadout thats been really good for me playing agro. Ok so the build is retrofurtuists with qd swash with synthos, bottom tree striker and fb with eye of the storm, so the set up is running in with ur shotty, synto Melee lungeing and getting swash and frontal assault then if theirs more people ii shotty more but if i get into a gum fight the increased stability from frontal+damage+ eye giving stability also makes it an almost instant win, rinse and repeat for 40 kills

Frenzy and Encore while camping with stag in rift is fun, the longer they take to kill you the more likely your buff procs.

Wouldn't a Legal Action with surplus+frenzy be a similar if not more interesting alternative for having a pulse be "assembled contrastingly"? Its high zoom gives plenty of additional range after all that can reach 49meters with no perks active, just range stat boosts.
I have a non adept messenger with full bore, ricochet rounds, moving target and frenzy. I haven't used it but after this video I think I might.
This just reminds me why I love Frenzy.
