Actually in their revisions of their boards if you flip the dip switch 2 to the "ON" position it turns the people skin color to a ghoul green in to make it look like your shooting the undead (TNT Amusement has a video demonstrating it). I found out long ago myself by messing with the switches in MAME. The NES game was not sold in major retailers is mostly due to Nintendo threatening the retailers of pulling licensed products for selling unlicensed games in their store. All the video rental stores in my town except Blockbuster had it for rent though some did put on a warning sticker for parents like Hastings Records (which also had all 3 Adults Only NES titles). I also saw chiller being sold in locally owned game stores. Mostly though it was sold via Mail Order which always results in low sales.

Chiller for the MSX, Spectrum and C64 is a 1985 game while the arcade game is a 1986 game. Those computer games predate the arcade game and are not even ports of Exidy’s Chiller. The NES version is of course a port.

Yeah, even cutting back the gore and nudity that made the game infamous only makes the game lose the novelty value and comes off as an unremarkable game.

Especially with there being a lack of challenge mixed in, aside from trying to achieve the highest score possible.

The designers of this game were ahead of their time. Pure genius!
