Yakety Axe is certainly played by many guitar players starting with the hit recording by Chet Atkins in 1965. The song has appeared under many different titles like Yakety Moog, Yakety Eeef and several more. It was orignillay written by Boots in late 1958 with the help of James "Spider" Rich who by the way also recorded it as Yakety Axe.
My grandfather used to play this on harmonica in the 70s, and my wifes grandfather played it on the accordion in the 90s but they used to do a medley version with a couple more "circus" songs worked in. Anyone else know about the "extended" versions?

That was a great performance. I still think of the end credits of the Benny Hill show whenever I hear it.
Man... he was darn good, I haven't seen not one single cover properly made of this theme. He made it look so simple !

This song is so over-used. But to see a great performance of this is where it's at.

Long before.
