Ah man! Finally a shorty! I run the current in my impact and ratcheting screwdriver with on board bits. Its a little too long for my liking, the 1/4" bit holding function puts klein on top in my opinion! Metric is cool too also! Thanks for the info as usual!
I just picked up the metric/sae impact flip socket set at Lowe’s today… i had the old SAE set that comes in the grey box, and it came in handy so many random times… especially on nuts that were too deep for the regular flip sockets
I love the bag space saving aspect of all these. When you can replace 6 nut driver handles in your bag, it goes along way. They may not be perfect when it comes to magnets, etc.. but they are a great add to a service bag.
I know. It’s like Klein is the only company with new tools in the last 4-5 months. My Veto SB-LD is in the mail finally.. couldn’t remember if you were getting that, but if so you may get it soon.
Great video. LOVE what Klein has been putting out lately. Always been a super solid brand, but not all that innovative. Lately they've absolutely crushed it on the innovation front. Looking forward to see what they come out with for box wrenches. Great tools.
Nice review. Not sure I need the metric flip socket, but very glad Klein makes a shorter 1/4-5/16 flip now. Been using the short Malco and DeWalt ones.
Who are we kidding.... I'll buy both take my money 💰 I always carried a 8/10mm malco just on case along with my makita socket rail mm and sae. I don't think it will save much space but I like the extended sae flip socket so this may kill the makita socket rails off. The magnetic holding feature is handy for sure!
Often people ask for help with assembly of a utilty cart or some flat pack thing.... so 13mm or 14mm gets some exercise. Sometimes it's some random peice of German machinery!?! Or better yet its a super rush crusty or damaged bolt and many times metric is the amswer for a hammer on tight fit!
Will be interesting to see if they bring it over to the UK / Europe, although I have my doubts that they will be released in the UK. I have been told the major reseller of Klein in the UK isn't stocking Modbox, so at the moment, Amazon would be the only source, shipped from America.
It doesn’t make a lot of sense not too, but I’m sure there is a lot behind the scenes that we never know that keeps certain things from happening. Sometimes it’s a competitor that tells companies they can’t sell certain brands in a deal they make with stores, etc.. similar to what our Lowe’s and Home Depot’s do here. They want “exclusives”
Do these weigh differently from the VACO ones? I bought the VACO metric ones recently and if you remove the big stubby screwdriver the actual flip sockets weigh much less than literally every metric socket set out now :P
Good question 👍 Just put the 1/2 & 9/16 on it, after putting it in my Surge there is about a 3/16 gap of room left between the impact and socket… So.. yes
@@xthee_0nly_1x11 no I didn’t pick that up. I may if they sell it individually, but I didn’t want to buy another entire setup for that one socket. So I couldn’t try that one.
@MM As of July 1st, Malco has their own flip-socket.(Malco 7-in-1 C-RHEX® Flip-Bit Socket Set) I don’t see any reviews/ratings on Amazon, but it might be worth checking them out and making a comparison video.

@@MORGANSMaintenance I checked at my local Lowe’s earlier and the metric flip socket set isn’t available yet. I’ll definitely buy one when it hits the shelves!
I run into more SAE still in my day to day job, but it just depends on what you do. I know some people who are mainly Metric like you. They have always been geared towards towards USA electricians, but maybe they are branching out
These tools are aimed at electricians and and overwhelming majority of their work here in the US is SAE. Lots of HVAC, too. These really are not aimed at Automotive Technicians, etc where the work is performed in a bay with access to all of their tools as opposed to field work.
The only issue I've had with the Klein flip sockets is the retention of the actual socket. I'm not sure why, but I just can't get the socket retention as good as it should be.
Finally metric. now when are they going to come out with a 1/4” metric pass through ratchet set with a pass through driver Handel in the set? I don’t know about the rest of you all but even though Im in the US 90% of the devices and equipment I work on is metric. and what little SAE I run into metric sockets typically fit better on the SAE hardware. I don’t even carry SAE on me anymore except for flip sockets only because I haven’t found a metric set yet.
I would have said odds are “no” on the set you are looking for, but I’ve seen more metric stuff from Klein in the last little bit than ever before.. so “maybe” would be my answer now. Metric is something a lot of people have been asking for, so they are listening 🤷♂️ I mostly run into SAE still, but do run into Metric enough that it’s good to have. There are a lot of people in the same boat as you though.
Kind of funny but this is how much I prefer Malco over Klein. I'm a night owl. Took a shower at 2am go to bed. I always turn the tstat at night to 74 I'm in Florida. I see it's at 78 so something is wrong. I look at my cameras and check the condenser and it looks like one of my units isn't on. I get dressed grab my meter at this point I could have grabbed my Klein nut driver out of my bag that was right there but I went into one of my 2 garages to get my impact and Malco flip socket. I see and hear the fan motor but no compressor. Of course it was a bad capacitor at now 3am. I went into my other garage grabbed an Amrad (the best) 35/5 cap and back in business. Took another shower went to bed at 4am up at 8:30 already ordered a new spare cap. Life is fun huh? lol
😂😂.. I do typically run my 1/4 & 5/16 MALCO’S in my impact, but it’s because I already owned them and they don’t break. I don’t often have to switch between nut drivers and screws when I’m using those. I use these flip sockets in my screwdrivers more than my impact. Malco does need some more sizes though.
Yeah, I don’t run into much day to day. But there is stuff in vehicles, furniture, tv mounts, etc. Anything you buy that is primarily made outside the US will often have metric bolts
Seems like Klein is definitely broadening their base. Being an “American electricians market” for so long they didn’t need the metric…but changing times have prevailed. I’m glad to see it. Now if they ever make their borescope for iPhone I’ll be in complete shock.😂😂😂
