Jubilee's dress reminds me of Gigi Hadid's dress in the 2018 Met Gala. Also Mystique's kinda mirror's kendall jenner's 2019 Met Gala with the feathery dress but with different colors.
As mentioned below the garden of flowers on Kwannon's dress are supposed to be cherry blossoms. While I love the call back to the Revanche costume with the arms I will agree that the shoes are not the best choice I think what I would have done differently if I designed the dress would be to make the front lower to cover most of the shoes and I would take the cherry blossoms and have them go more down towards the middle and follow along the hem instead of being high up like it is-if that makes sense. With the darker color scheme having the cherry blossoms going along the hem would give it more of that intense fabric design the Japanese do use
On the point of X-Force, I get the design story wise and character wise. I feel, most wouldn’t want to wear the outfits. Quintin is a missed opportunity though.
Prodigy’s outfit is an ‘Ionic Greek Column’ in fashion form. The curls at the top of the column along with the vertical fluting are a dead give away. Google is if you’re not familiar. I love how the Greek theme is pulled into the sandal. It reminds me of Hermes. The god with wings on his ankles.
Colossus looks like a lot of the Slavic men I see on nights out here in England, while he looks like an explosion of Asos Fashion, he is a snack. They gave Dazzler a basic Disco/70s Rock Chick outfit, which would have been cool anywhere else but not the Hellfire Gala. Also I think Jubilee’s looks is an American spin on a Chinese inspired look, the sleeve looks somewhat Hanfu inspired and the floral pattern looks to reference lotus flowers which are often associated with places like India and China.
Ahh, I had wondered if the dress was a traditional Japanese garment, but I couldn't place it with anything I knew about. I like the cherry blossom as a flower and I think it's beautiful that she integrated it, but I don't like the way she integrated it. Do you know if her having the flowers like that is a traditional way to wear the cherry blossoms with this dress?
@@GreatXMentations not necessarily traditional way but cherry blossom patterns are popularly used in their fabric print the illustrator used it as a 3d print draped look I think they get inspiration designs in likes of Guo Pei and Iris Van Harpen, the sleeve cut is a yukata cut(they should’ve gave her Japanese traditional kimono sleeve cut its such a missed opportunity), the bodice on open chest is a choice lol with that bottom part(I hate the bottom part tbh) also Such a missed design that they don’t give her clothing any pattern or embroidery Japanese are known for their intricate fabric prints historically
I was really excited to see John Greycrow's Hellfire Gala look! He's my 5th favorite X-Men character! I thought he'd at least be Psylocke's +1, but I guess him and the rest of the Hellions all have to crash. At least the issue looks super fun! Back to the fashion, I can appreciate some aspects of Psylocke's outfit like the cherry blossoms, but I wish the shoes were better. I wish the hair was different too. I'm not sure what I would change it to, but something different. I really like Havok's look! He looks great! Sinister and Exodus look good, but very similar to their usual.
My thoughts on X-Factor; Daken looks good, but just putting his tattoo on a suit jacket feels a little lazy. He rarely wears a shirt and wen tons of men are shirtless, he wears a shirt? I guess it's supposed to be how he never goes with the flow? Northstar looks great! It fits his aesthetic. Kyle looks nice. Eye-Boy looks cool. Polaris looks ok. I wish she had a headdress or something. She's known for headdresses or really big hair. This feels very subdued for her. I would have liked if her outfit looked more metallic, like her powers were keeping it on her!
My favorite Hellfire Gala design ended up being a 7 way tie LOL Frenzy, Sunfire, Aurora, Bishop, Pyro, Storm and Colossus all look PERFECT to me! I LOVE that Frenzy looks like a gorgeous Warrior Queen! Her look is AMAZING! Sunfire, Colossus, Bishop and Pyro have never looked better! Aurora's look is simpler than most, but just gorgeous! Storm looks like a Goddess.
Marauders team looks; I'm loving how Bishop is giving off a bit of Lil Nas X vibes and I'm so here for it! The flame detailing on Pyro combine with the fringe necklace for a shirt works so freaking well together! Sebastian Shaw's never looked better. I really like Iceman's look. It feels like he's having fun experimenting with fashion now that he's out of the closet. Good for him. I don't like Banshee's look. It's a suit version of his usual look, which I don't like already.
My favorites are all of the S.W.O.R.D teams outfits. I feel like as a whole they really hit it out of the park and there's not one outfit I didn't like. Individually I also like Colossus, Moonstar, Synch, Bishop, Cannonball and Mystique's outfits.
SWORD looks great! I've already gushed about how perfect Frenzy looks. Magneto is giving off strong Steampunk vibes and I LOVE it! Khora's look is nice, but this new character feel redundant with Chamber/Jono Starsmore. Manifold looks ok. The nods to his Aboriginal culture are cool.

We can see hints of Magik's final design in the cover for Planet Size X-Men, but I agree, I think we'll have to wait and see what it looks like on an actual page to really grasp the scope of it.
The X-Men team looks so good! X-23 looks nice, but I wish her look had more of her Goth style to it. This feels void of her personality. It's just a Wolverine dress, but no part of it seems her own personal style. The rest of the guys have never looked better! Synch and Cannonball are super stylish! I didn't know Colossus could look sexy like this! Colossus has the Goth energy X-23 is lacking! Sunfire is a perfect combo of his personal style, his culture and referencing his powers!

I forgot to mention Prodigy LOL I never would have thought Prodigy could be so fashionable! He is rocking this gold look! It's such a different look then he's ever had before. I'm not sure if the wings are supposed to symbolize something though? Why do him and Iceman have wings? He often wears yellow and is one of the few characters to look good in yellow. Gold can be super fancy yellow and is a great color on him too. Maybe Prodigy should wear more gold.
Yes, the color does look really really great on him. I didn't really understand what the reference of the outfit was, but after thinking about it I thought maybe it was a play on the "Muses" from Hercules, and how that could play into his power of basically knowing everything it just like them.
I'm not digging the preview art style here for the New Mutants because it makes it hard to tell if any of these will look good. Dani Moonstar/Mirage may end up looking nice. Warpath could look good. I'll have to see how the spiky shoulder pads look in other art. It feels like they are a throwback to how his first X-Force look that had giant red shoulder pads that he joked he couldn't turn his head without hitting his jaw against them LOL I'm a sucker for tailcoats and that style of shoes on men, so this could look good! Poor Karma has never had a good look since she came out as a Lesbian! Marvel seems to think Lesbians can't have any fashion sense! Why Marvel, WHY!?!? Magik look terrible.

My thoughts on the Excalibur team; Gambit and Jubilee look pretty great, but could look better. Gambit looks his best with longer hair, but they've been giving him this short bob like hairstyle for a while now. It's a little weird him and Jubilee are rocking the same hairstyle basically LOL I like Gambit's look, but I do wish it had a little more flare like Gambit usually has, like a bigger collar or something. Meggan who they are calling Gloriana is ok. It feels like a generic fairy princess dress. I like Rictor's cloak, but I HATE how Excalibur has completely forgotten his punk rock aesthetic! Even at Rictor's most depressed he'd usually have a little edge to his look. This was a guy who was introduced in a studded leather vest with no shirt on! I feel like he should be shirtless or just in a mesh fishnet top at most! Maybe then those pants and shoes would work better then, but as is, it's like an uglier version of the Riddler's outfit. I don't like Monarch/Jamie Braddock's look! Those gloves are heinous. The cape collar is super weird. The crown style is meh. The sandals are the best part.
Rictor has been my biggest disappointment out of Excalibur. It just feels like this new direction has been really forced on him. How you describe Rictor is exactly they guy I was hoping to see rock this gala, and we only got the sneakiest peek of it with the mesh shirt.

I like that Rictor's powers are finally being acknowledged with the importance they deserve in Excalibur because it's overdue, but beyond that, I'm not feeling it either. Rictor's powers enable him to be connected to the Earth like Storm is to the weather. If that makes Storm a Goddess of the Wind, shouldn't Rictor be a God of the Ground? We've gotten peaks over the decades of just how insanely powerful Rictor could be, but Marvel has underutilized him overall. It's been indicated that Rictor has some form of even communicating with the Earth. I'd like to see this Gay Mexican Mutant level up to the big leagues already! Can you tell Rictor is among my favorite X-Men characters?
@@Nightengale90 Hahaha totally. At the very minimum it's good that he's at least getting some decent page time in Excalibur compared to the others. It will be interesting to see what they do with him after the Gala, because by the looks of the Excalibur solicit he seems to be playing a big role in the night.
@@GreatXMentations The issue is called breaking up. Maybe, it will be foreshadowing how the Excalibur comic will be ending or only get one more arc to wrap everything up. Tini Howard will be writing X-Corp. More and more fans have been dropping the title and reviews haven't been favorable for it usually. The only issue I've found ok was the last 2 or 3. It maybe time to end that title and let the characters go to other titles. Betsy has been the main focus of the title and everyone else has just felt like her back up. They all deserve better than that. Gambit and Jubilee are utterly wasted there. Rogue is on X-Men. Rictor now has all of Apocalypse's magic books. He could be very useful to Krokoa in a lot of places.
I know X-Force is security, but they could still have some personality to their looks. Everyone is black tie and they look like they are ready for a superhero business luncheon. Security can still be stylish. Sage looks ok. I HATE Kid Omega and Beast's looks. I don't like Wolverine or Domino or Professor X's looks. The bolo ties were the only part I liked LOL

hahaha 100% Bayonetta, you nailed it. Yeah, I think a lot of the fan art versions of these characters really blew the official designs out of the water.
The Way of X team is a mixed bag. Loa's tropical fish look is cool! Dazzler's look is meh. This feels like a watered down version of Dazzler's Disco look. Dazzler is a performer. She should be sporting a really over the top look. Mercury's look makes me uncomfortable. Is she still a teenager? Even if she's 18 now, I wish she was wearing more than a little body paint. Mercury's look is more revealing than Emma Frost and that's uncomfortable to me. Nightcrawler looks better than EVER! I'm not sure how Nightcrawler is wearing those shoes?
i'm surprised that the artists didn't take the opportunity to make Pyro and Iceman match; aren't they like a thing now? like you, i do not understand Prodigy's look; it says nothing about who he is at all! Eye-boy's look just works for him! Way of X leaves me underwhelmed. I LOVE MAGIK'S LOOK! Hellions... if looks could kill... they'd be wanted for murder Colossus... oh, daddy
The New Mutants page is really disappointing because it looks like a bunch of half-finished scribbles. The girls are all missing their noses. It's impossible to get a good idea of what these designs would be like in a finished page. Every other page shows fully realized designs, but New Mutants is a half-done page. Magik is stunning on the covers of Planet-Sized X-Men and New Mutants with the variant cover, but here there's no detail and she's missing her nose and all color in her face and her eyes are closed. I think the flowing cloth is supposed to represent her stepping disks. Warpath is 90s in the worst way, but him being clueless about fashion seems to be a running gag. Karma's is awful. I see what they're going for, but it doesn't work. The men really bore me. Most of them seem to be going for the same show off their chest look that loses all impact when everyone is doing it. Only Colossus really pulls it off in my opinion. Iceman looks like he doesn't have any pants. I feel like the women were much more creative in their designs.
I'm hoping this isn't all of the new team line up for X-Corp. I was looking forward to some really out of the box picks like Scrambler due to his inventing skills or other unusual picks like that. Selene just killed a bunch of men in Captain America! She was arrested and sent to Krokoa for trial. Why isn't she in the hole? Back to the fashion, Mastermind is rocking a Victorian Steampunk dapper look. Selene's look is so underwhelming! Every outfit she wore during the Necrosha arc alone was so much fancier and just better! This feels so basic for her! It's like a watered down look from Bayonetta. Multiple Man looks terrible! I just am not feeling it at all. Sunspot looks ok.
The imp is and has always been a musketeers type person yes he is a religious man and has certain hang ups but the outfit does fit him modest and true to form I may not be a fashion icon but I have read comics for over 35 years and this screams him
The first person I ever loved is Bobby drake I am a straight man but the elegance of the ice man is beyond compare if you look at him as a sculpture and not a book person the way light summers off him the way water flows from his body the way emma frost used him it is magnificent in its glory yes it is over the top for sexual things but as art my hero stands out as perfect

I forgot to mention Prodigy LOL I never would have thought Prodigy could be so fashionable! He is rocking this gold look! It's such a different look then he's ever had before. I'm not sure if the wings are supposed to symbolize something though? Why do him and Iceman have wings? He often wears yellow and is one of the few characters to look good in yellow. Gold can be super fancy yellow and is a great color on him too. Maybe Prodigy should wear more gold.
Yes, the color does look really really great on him. I didn't really understand what the reference of the outfit was, but after thinking about it I thought maybe it was a play on the "Muses" from Hercules, and how that could play into his power of basically knowing everything it just like them.

Warpath could look good. I'll have to see how the spiky shoulder pads look in other art. It feels like they are a throwback to how his first X-Force look that had giant red shoulder pads that he joked he couldn't turn his head without hitting his jaw against them LOL I'm a sucker for tailcoats and that style of shoes on men, so this could look good!

My thoughts on the Excalibur team;
Gambit and Jubilee look pretty great, but could look better. Gambit looks his best with longer hair, but they've been giving him this short bob like hairstyle for a while now. It's a little weird him and Jubilee are rocking the same hairstyle basically LOL I like Gambit's look, but I do wish it had a little more flare like Gambit usually has, like a bigger collar or something.
Meggan who they are calling Gloriana is ok. It feels like a generic fairy princess dress.
I like Rictor's cloak, but I HATE how Excalibur has completely forgotten his punk rock aesthetic! Even at Rictor's most depressed he'd usually have a little edge to his look. This was a guy who was introduced in a studded leather vest with no shirt on! I feel like he should be shirtless or just in a mesh fishnet top at most! Maybe then those pants and shoes would work better then, but as is, it's like an uglier version of the Riddler's outfit.
I don't like Monarch/Jamie Braddock's look! Those gloves are heinous. The cape collar is super weird. The crown style is meh. The sandals are the best part.
Rictor has been my biggest disappointment out of Excalibur. It just feels like this new direction has been really forced on him. How you describe Rictor is exactly they guy I was hoping to see rock this gala, and we only got the sneakiest peek of it with the mesh shirt.

I like that Rictor's powers are finally being acknowledged with the importance they deserve in Excalibur because it's overdue, but beyond that, I'm not feeling it either. Rictor's powers enable him to be connected to the Earth like Storm is to the weather. If that makes Storm a Goddess of the Wind, shouldn't Rictor be a God of the Ground? We've gotten peaks over the decades of just how insanely powerful Rictor could be, but Marvel has underutilized him overall. It's been indicated that Rictor has some form of even communicating with the Earth. I'd like to see this Gay Mexican Mutant level up to the big leagues already!

@@Nightengale90 Hahaha totally. At the very minimum it's good that he's at least getting some decent page time in Excalibur compared to the others. It will be interesting to see what they do with him after the Gala, because by the looks of the Excalibur solicit he seems to be playing a big role in the night.
@@GreatXMentations The issue is called breaking up. Maybe, it will be foreshadowing how the Excalibur comic will be ending or only get one more arc to wrap everything up. Tini Howard will be writing X-Corp. More and more fans have been dropping the title and reviews haven't been favorable for it usually. The only issue I've found ok was the last 2 or 3. It maybe time to end that title and let the characters go to other titles. Betsy has been the main focus of the title and everyone else has just felt like her back up. They all deserve better than that. Gambit and Jubilee are utterly wasted there. Rogue is on X-Men. Rictor now has all of Apocalypse's magic books. He could be very useful to Krokoa in a lot of places.
I feel like Jubilee and Dazzler should've switched dresses.

I know X-Force is security, but they could still have some personality to their looks. Everyone is black tie and they look like they are ready for a superhero business luncheon. Security can still be stylish.

Dazzler's look is meh. This feels like a watered down version of Dazzler's Disco look. Dazzler is a performer. She should be sporting a really over the top look.
Mercury's look makes me uncomfortable. Is she still a teenager? Even if she's 18 now, I wish she was wearing more than a little body paint. Mercury's look is more revealing than Emma Frost and that's uncomfortable to me.
Nightcrawler looks better than EVER! I'm not sure how Nightcrawler is wearing those shoes?

Different Pyro
The New Mutants page is really disappointing because it looks like a bunch of half-finished scribbles. The girls are all missing their noses. It's impossible to get a good idea of what these designs would be like in a finished page. Every other page shows fully realized designs, but New Mutants is a half-done page. Magik is stunning on the covers of Planet-Sized X-Men and New Mutants with the variant cover, but here there's no detail and she's missing her nose and all color in her face and her eyes are closed. I think the flowing cloth is supposed to represent her stepping disks. Warpath is 90s in the worst way, but him being clueless about fashion seems to be a running gag. Karma's is awful. I see what they're going for, but it doesn't work.
The men really bore me. Most of them seem to be going for the same show off their chest look that loses all impact when everyone is doing it. Only Colossus really pulls it off in my opinion. Iceman looks like he doesn't have any pants. I feel like the women were much more creative in their designs.
I used to like the X-men because they were outsiders, gritty, flawed heroes. Fashion show zzzzzzzzz

The imp is and has always been a musketeers type person yes he is a religious man and has certain hang ups but the outfit does fit him modest and true to form I may not be a fashion icon but I have read comics for over 35 years and this screams him

The first person I ever loved is Bobby drake I am a straight man but the elegance of the ice man is beyond compare if you look at him as a sculpture and not a book person the way light summers off him the way water flows from his body the way emma frost used him it is magnificent in its glory yes it is over the top for sexual things but as art my hero stands out as perfect
