He is absolutely right. I also like the way he acknowledged the other ways, whilst also noting how they do not conform totally with the classics. I went through a similar process of soul-searching but I am glad the process seems similar, if not identical, when we meditate on the origins of power generation. The most important thing here is to spread the chi to all parts of your body, so that you are pliant and able to communicate with and to all parts. Stiffness anywhere is how we lose (although also instructive of where exactly our chi isn't flowing...). Good stuff Adam!
The best way that i understand this and can make it practical and functional without a physical demonstration, is that any "meridian point" or part you think of in your body, for example- i think about an awkward point in my pinky , it initiates a nervous system ripple that moves like water through the rest of the body and just from your pinky you get a unique WHOLE body movement that is emphasized through that awkward point or any point you choose in the body. If i think about my shoulder my body will create a new movement that initiates from the shoulder, but the WHOLE body moves in accordance to the THOUGHT of that one point. The most external representation of this is how break dancers Pop and Lock and use the worm, you see their shoulder pop up and then the ripple sends through the rest of their body. In a tai chi sense you allow this ripple to occur but you dont do it like a break dancer, you let the waves of energy swim through your body without shooting out externally. So it ends up carrying your body as if a gas or water is moving you from the INSIDE of your body shell.
We are all Lucky to live in these times where this kind of knowledge is just for grabs onto the internet. At the same time most of us need to be guided very specifically to not only mentally know how to do it, but to know how it FEELS. Then there is a true knowing and advancement onto the path. As Adam said in one of his videos: 'It is a profound gift', but I think many are missing the boat because of this lack of proper guidance.

Wow, thank you Sifu for this insight. In my uninformed way I first thought you were referring to everything moving from the Tan Tien movement. Although this is a lot deeper than that. You also look very at one with everything, Buddha like even. You teach us such a lot of what is important to be at one within oneself. Thank you. 🙏
Useful insight based on experience! Those of us working at more intermediate levels of development might have a fairly fluid pond *until* pressure is applied - then we suffer instant partial freezing. Letting the propagation itself do the unfreezing at the wavefront (especially by y/y differentials at a cascade of transition points) requires us learners to slow it down (way down - for me, frustratingly slow) to feel it through. Anyway, I look forward to more of these ... maybe a "moments of insight" series added to your "teaching moments" series, which is more hands-on?
Mostly I live in the ice cube or ice box scenario due to living in cold damp stagnation environment. I do experience the total pond and fluidity for a couple months of the year, the rest is a drag. Did the herbs, did the multitude of programs, it's in my birth chart, got get the hell out of cold damp stagnation places. fairly simple right ???? hahahha not always. Anyhow, great analogy and great works, blessings. And yes obviously, this causes some difficulty, obviously!!
Wow. That actually makes a lot of sense this guys understanding is very deep. Shame he spends so much time on nonsense instead of sharing he's real knowledge. It appears to me he's very very good
The visualization of "rock falling in the pond" does not conform to the actual explanation of the tradition of "if one part moves, every part moves" in Taijiquan therefore it's just a personal opinion. From Wang Zongyue’s Taijiquan treatise, 1881 [...] “First act with your mind, then your body. With your “abdomen” activated, energy will be collected into your bones. If the spirit is calm the body will be also calm. Always remember: if one part moves, every part moves, and if one part is still, every part is still. Consider stillness as movement and movement as stillness. Your Qi will calm the movement being in complete “stillness” from your spine. Have an active spirit inside and be comfortable and at ease from the outside. Step like a cat. Move energy as if drawing silk. Throughout your body, your mind should lead by the spirit rather than lead the energy, if you are focused on the energy, your movement will become stiff/out of energy. Whenever your mind leads the energy, there will be no power, instead leave the energy in its natural form, free to express maximum power. The energy is like a wheel. The waist is like an axle”. -Taijiquan is in motion in a particular way, that way will make the practitioner move “all at once” or “not at all”, the paragraph above expressed this imperative concept of the practice of Taijiquan. The idea of “throwing a rock in a pond and make the water wave” implies that there’s something first that ignites a series of reactions that comes later, the waves. This doesn’t happen in Taijiquan since If he takes no action, I take no action, but once he takes even the slightest action, I have already acted "彼不動己不動彼微動己先動". The energy as it is collected, refined and expressed in Taijiquan will force the practitioner of moving hands, waist and feet all at once or not at all, as said above already, to have an advantage over the incoming force of the opponent. Something (the rock falling) doesn’t happen first and the energy is transmitted later (the waves of the pond) but all happen at the same time. The mind, the spirit, the hand and the energy all move at the same time, or not at all. Both phases, motion and stillness, have a particular way of operation in Taijiquan.
True tai chi genius. The tai chi world should listen and attempt to apply everything this man offers.
You touched me once 2 years ago ... Ripples can still be felt today ... I owe you a lot
What did you feel?

This is an invaluable source of interpretation from the classics, a true gem. Thank You!

Many thanks for sharing this 'formula'. Now it's become more clear to me 🙏🏼

I have really enjoyed this video and the one on mindfulness. Putting ideas into proper perspective is such a great help. Thank you.
Good analogy
You make it very easy to understand, thank you.

Very true. And doesn't even mean that the movement is external.
Realy clear. Thanks
FINALLY ❤️
thank you for sharing your understanding :)
Quite accurate! Very few people now understand this.
Great stuff

Did you make some progress? You are looking more open and your facial expression more friendly.

Sifu please awnser this question: is it possible for you to lift heavy waights with your internal power?
We can be torn by the winds of change, or unfurl our sails in trust of divine madness. Aries
Could you please explain the other triggers other than yau qua and the feet? This is really interesting stuff :)
I saw it with the feet being shown in this video by Ian Sinclair ruclips.net/video/7dA9QRhwjAc/видео.html
Please, what are the basic body opening exercices (Jibengong) according to you?
I found this maybe it could help with your research ruclips.net/video/xokEQf3HdWc/видео.html
