If you just put a laptop in the sleeve and nothing in the main compartment does the laptop lean forward. My Envoy 3 would do this, and cause the entire bag to lean forward. I think that bag was just too big and this smaller bag would be perfect. Great review!
It will stand up. Mind you my MBP is only 4.5 pounds. One thing that I realized is that -- the new "stiff" flap helps it stand up when I put it down on the floor! I was at the 5.11 store this weekend and checked out the 5.11 Rush Lima 12L. I definitely like the vanquest better, although 5.11 makes some good bags also.
Great review PK. I have a prior generation Envoy, large (which is enormous) so was thinking about the 13" new one. I am afraid it might be too small, though -- and as you point out, not sure one of the main selling points, to my mind -- the "origami style" dividers to come -- makes sense with something of this size. Also, while i LOVE Vanquest products in general, I'm also finding I'm starting to shy away from all the velcro.... I kind of wish there were a quieter and maybe more long-lasting option.
It IS small, but then it forces me to think what to pack for the day. So good point / bad point. BTW I am likely to put this up for sale soon as I just have way too many packs. Hit me up if you are interested.
@@PKShiu I might be, come next payday! But I have hesitancy for the reasons expressed... as well as perhaps having a few too many bags! I'll think about it through the pay period, though. Too much of a a Vanquest fan to ignore it altogether....
BW7085 Sorry I sold it already. It’s a great bag and right now I think they are running some sort of weekend sale, not sure if this is part of the sale though.
Looks like this bag will not sit level with the front loading compartments and the flap. Does it sit up straight? It appears not enough storage on the rear of bag. So it would lean forward.
It sits reasonably well if you have a laptop in there because that will move the center of gravity back. If you load up the front then you are right it will lean over.
Thank you for the review. I find Vanquest products are very well made but their organization pockets become limited once you start to fill the pockets and the bag becomes smaller and smaller. I think for a non made in USA bag the price is very high. I have the mobius 2.0 and the main compartment it worthless once you add two bottles. Do you still have this for sale?
it looks like there might be enough room for a 14" mac pro laptop in that sleeve. there appears to be a little room around your 13" laptop. Am I correct in thinking a 14" laptop will fit as well?
@@PKShiu not sure I’m convinced a 14” will fit in the laptop sleeve. Specs say the “ interior measures 14” wide but a laptop of “ up to 13” will fit in the sleeve
I found myself highly attracted to this bad but for it’s size I think it’s too small and the excessive amount of features has really run up the price. I was this >< close to buying one but I now have to reconsider. The amount of pockets it offers must make their usage nil as the overall volume is tight. The larger bag looks like it would definitely exceed my needs. Too bad.
PK Shiu ... Thank you for your opinion and recommendations. I will check into the 5.11 and keep this one still in mind. Nice channel by the way and you earned a new subscriber. 😎👍
Visaliaipa It is the escapade by Bond Travel Gear. Unfortunately they do not make that anymore. The company changed direction and are now making canvas gear under the name lochby.
Short time yes. The material is thick, but not water proof. The edge is folded so will keep out rain for a bit. But I would not carry my laptop and food for 1 hour in pouring rain.
@@PKShiu Tq for the explanation, I am tryin to find the perfect bag for my work as a bike messenger in the city, looks like this bag has all the bells and whistles, is it a wise choice to choose this bag for me in regards its weather resistance performance u think?
Real nice review, I’ve watched a couple on this bag and you hit on some things others did not, glad I watched 👍🏻👍🏻
Great video, thank you. Please do more gear reviews.
Best messenger bag on earth
Are you planning on reviewing the newer vanquest bag
Is there one bag in particular that you are interested in?

Looks cool but i do wish they would stop using the 500d on everything.
Great video, very helpful as I search for a new messenger bag. Can I ask the make of the water bottle that was used in the video?
It’s a a bottle from LifeTime the health club.

Wait you have the 14 inch MBP already?? The space is 12.5 inch wide, the current 13 inch MBP is 11.97 inch wide. So a 14 inch MBP may fit?

Take a look at their 5.11 version. They have three sizes, similar but I prefer the Vanquest quality.

Does the main strap have a buckle? hard to tell with the black on black on black. Thanks.
Oreomeister yes you can unbuckle the strap from the front while carrying the pack on your back.
I an you tell me what the small electronic bag you used in this review?

Good job!
Can you please tell me what brand of bags you have for the cords etc?

ha ha sorry. I clearly meant 20 OZ.
